The Mares-Agbeko II working date is December 3 on Showtime. Which goes against the Cotto-Margarito II fight on PPV.
The Cotto-Margarito event has been a fight that I personally have been looking forward to. But, not only will Mares-Agbeko be on free TV. But, Anselmo Moreno has been talked in being in the co-feature against Vic Darchinyan.
Don't know what to do?
:wtf1:, why couldn't GBP put the event on Dec 17 or so :damnit:
Yea Jro, watch the Moreno fight and you'll still be able to see Cotto-Margs. Depends how much interest you have in Wolak vs. TBA, Jones vs Lujan, and Rigo vs. Ramos.
In fact, especially since I can see all of the undercard fights going the distance...I can see Cotto-Margs not even entering the ring untill 11:30. You may be able to conceivably watch the entire showtime card plus Cotto-Margs all live.
Its not nad for either; its not like Cotto/Margs II will over 450k anyways so I don't see a problem. IF Golden Boy was going up against Manny then it would be a big deal but two faded guys rematch nah they will be ok.
Its a bad move for Golden Boy in my opinion. As far as top boxing matches go, Mares-Agbeko II is a better fight. But Cotto-Marg is a much bigger fight to the casual fan and will get much better ratings.
Let's be real here, no way will Agbeko-Mares have the slightest effect on a mega rematch like Cotto/Margarito. But if we're talking about ONLY hardcore boxing fans, I still think most of us would rather tune in to see the Cotto/Margs rematch because it's gonna be a big event. The Showtime fight is a good second option though, for those of us who might not be able to shell out the cash or have the patience to sit through a crappy stream.
We will probably get both for free in the UK.
Cotto-Margarito 2 on Sky Sports and Agbeko-Mares 2 on Premier Sports.
So I will watch Cotto-Margarito and record Agbeko-Mares and watch is straight after without seeing the result
:D
i doubt sky would show cotto marg 2 live, maybe 11am on sunday morning. Maybe.
Hope they do though
:lol1:,
I know, this is one of the fights I been looking forward the most. Out of all the PPV's this year. This is the one PPV that I was really excited for.
But, not only will showtime have Mares-Agbeko, which is a damn good fight. But, they got my boy Moreno fighting Darchinyan.
If it was just Mares-Agbeko, I would easily go with Cotto-Marg. But, the addition of Moreno makes this very debatable for me.
if the 2 main events are on at the same time, watch the moreno fight, switch to cotto marg for the main event and record mares agbeko
From Steve Kim :
As Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto engage in their return bout at Madison Square Garden in New York on December 3rd on HBO Pay-Per-View, it looks like another rematch will be taking place on Showtime 3,000 miles away. Apparently, Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko will box once again for the IBF bantamweight title, along with WBA bantamweight beltholder Anselmo Moreno facing Vic Darchinyan at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Geez, not this again.
"In an ideal world, I don’t think anyone’s going to say it’s good to go head-to-head," said Schaefer, who said Showtime simply had no other available dates this late in the year. "I mean, what could be good about it? But sometimes you have no other choice. I think Mares and Agbeko is a much anticipated and much talked-about rematch, which just recently happened. A lot of controversies there and you could say the same with Cotto and Margarito. I don’t want to knock the fight. We are happy with our fight. It’s an action-packed fight card and I think it will do very well. It will do very well for Showtime and it will do very well at the gate."

Moreno is fighting Darchinyan?? Since when????
Moreno is one of my favourite fighters also at the moment but I think its worth recording for Marg-Cotto.
I don't really care for the fighters at all and they are both on the slide but I will definitely be watching that live. No question.
Well record one and watch the other :-)
That's what i'm gonna do! No need to trip when DVR's are in every household! The only issue im having is that the Mares fight is gonna be 10mins away from where I live.

It's Cotto-Marg nikka
DA FUKK?

It seems that way, now I'm in a bind and I don't know which one to pick.
The Moreno addition makes this very difficult for me.

Looks to me that Showtime is the one flexing nuts here to send a message to Top Rank for not only giving Pac/Marquez to HBO but also Cotto/Marg.

If that happens, it's Marez Agbeko all day. They really have a history together & the fight isn't years too late, both are still high level fighters & it's on showtime minus the ppv prcetag. How much is Cotto-Margarito going to cost anyway. PPV's are about to skyrocket.
Goldenboy isn't really doing their fighter's any favors by pitting them against a big marquee fight like Cotto-Marg II.
Cotto-Marg II will hog nearly all the spotlight just by the very nature of the fight.
Bad move for Golden Boy if their intention is to promote their fighters.

So Golden Boy will be going heads up with Top Rank PPV? | BoxingScene Community
