criticizing people who happen to be latinos and blacks = racism
Floyd making racist statements against Filipinos,Asians = not racism
.... and we feed these fools with our tax dollars bringing them welfare and sh*t and these is how we are getting paid back.
All day, 360/24/7 in NSB ....
They add injury to our ailing economy! :nonono:
This thing about Pac and steroids have been present since 2009. Why hasn't Merchant asked Pacquiao anything about OST in any post fight interviews???? Come on fellas.Merchant hasn't commentated on any Pacquiao fight since Pac's fight with Cotto in 2009.
Kellerman commentated in the Clottey fight (March '10), Margarito fight (November '10), and Showtime did the commentary for the Mosley fight (May '11).
Some people try to see race in absolutely everything, even when it‘s not there to be seen.
A fact that you knew was going to rear its ugly head sooner or later... Come on we are dealing with Floyd here... You knew the race card was going to come up. It is just a given, with the way this guy acts, it was just a matter of time till he included the white race in his list of people who are trying to put him down. He can't do no wrong remember and his yes men, the flomos will always be consenting to whatever he does. If he decides to use his skin color to make himself out to be the victim, ignorant flomos raise their fist to that faster then floyd can sucker punch an opponent..
Anyway, my point is not that Larry Merchant isn't at times opinionated or even disdainful towards fighters. He is especially at age 80 and I do not enjoy his commentary as much these days.
I think calls for racism need a lot more solid backing than a handful of examples though when those claims can be easily counter-acted with examples of him doing the opposite.
You have to give some respect to Merchant because he has covered boxing longer than probably any other man alive. He has always been a man who never backed down, either from saying his opinion or taking on 50 lb bigger men in American football over 60 years ago. While not a fighter, he is not some guy who does not know what it's like to get hurt since he was forced to retire from sports due to injuries himself.

I agree and I wouldn't call him a racist. I never called him a racist but I do thing he is impartial to fighters of certain styles with his commentary.

No, you're just a nut-hugger. Merchant has always been professional.
So I'm nut hugging all the fighters mentioned in this thread huh? Some of the posters on this forum are sad. They can't put together intelligent responses so they have to resort name-calling.
It's alright little guy :bottle:
It takes some gall to accuse Larry Merchant with a lack of professionalism when your favourite little boxer false-cracked (SEE surprise punched) his opponent and then went on a tirade screaming in the face of a senior citizen when asked about it. And illegally assaulted numerous other innocent persons in the street. And was involved with the shooting of another person.
E
We all saw Floyd go off on Merchant and it wasn't a good decision to do so. But until Floyd is convicted of assaulting someone it is wrong to assume that he actually did commit assault or was involved with a shooting. Were you there? Absolutely not so you don't know if those allegation are true or not.
It's all hearsay until something is proven. Same with the Pacquiao steroid allegations.
he thanked god and his team and gave a straight answer to the question then thanked everybody and got cut off with the same question. what more did he need to say?
Could he not get his thankyous out of the way in one go...no? Too difficult?
what does it say about someone who insults their own father for the world to see and then has no respect for an elder and insults him too
It says a lot of things. I didn't agree with the way Floyd handled that incident ether. He took it way too far. He needs to learn how to handle his emotions better.
On the other end I understand why Floyd did what he did. Floyd obviously has resentment issue with his father for leaving him when he was younger and not being the best father. That compiled with the fact that Floyd Sr wants to take credit for EVERYTHING is a recipe for disaster.
The argument was fine up until Floyd let his emotions get the best of him.
Also let's not forget Jefferson KO'd another black fighter.
Let's not forget Mosley KO'd Mayorga. It's not that hard to take a pick between the two.

He already thanked people at the beginning of the interview. How many times does he need to do it? Its Merchants job to get to the issue at hand and not waste air time listening to Mayweather thank fans and sponsers over n over again.

If you think Merchant saying "congrats on the win Bernard" overrule's Merchant making multiple excuses for Pavlik's loss against Hopkins, than I don't know what to tell you and you won't get our point. Pavlik was praised for his win against Taylor and for sending Taylor to the hospital. Only for Merchant to make excuses all through his loss to Hopkins.
Regarding mayweather, I don't think Merchant saying "congrats on the win Floyd" overrule's the countless times he's hated on the man.
For instance, Merchant critisized Mayweather Saturday night when Mayweather was walking to the arena for having his children with him. Come on man, seriously?
Merchant said that stuff before the fight. He thought Pavlik was wrong for trying to make a money fight with Hopkins instead of defending his title at middleweight.
What was there not to praise about Pavlik's win over Taylor? He knocked out a middleweight champion in a terrific fight where he had been dropped and nearly KO'd.
Obviously Mayweather and Merchant are past the point of return but Mayweather would have made it a lot easier on himself by having a hint of class when dealing with Merchant and other journalists. There is no reason to avoid answering questions.
As an example he could have repeated that "you have to protect yourself at all times" and that it was all he was going to say to the question. There was no need to start insulting an old man along with his entourage.
just let these fighters talk, that's always been merchant's problem. larry cut floyd off when he wanted to thank his fans and the people who came out to support him, i think that's what set him off and they got a long history together.
jim gray and max kellerman do a better job at asking the questions at the right moments without being a total douche about it. it's called being professional.

Larry Merchant is such a vicious racist that he once couldn't contain his disgust so much that he hurled the most awful obscenity I've ever heard at Derrick Jefferson:
"Derrick Jefferson, I LOVE YOU"
Not content with that, he was so offended at the sight of a white man losing(Mayorga fight) he again hurled his racist thoughts at Shane Mosley:
"Shane Mosley, I LOVE YOU."
I was so offended by this overt racism, I wrote to HBO demanding that Merchant be terminated, which would free him up for all his clan meetings.
No, I'm just marveling at what a pathetic heap of mush you are.
:lol1:
Enough to reply to the pathetic mush? Go sit in a corner cunt..Adult are discussing here..:bottle:
What point were you making posting that video. Give me a second number where your point is made. I don't have time to go through that entire boring interview....
Hopkins said Merchant had given him justifiable criticism for some of his past fights and Merchant congratulated him for his win.
Have you seen Floyd's earlier fights? That Merchant was apart of, He even showed dislike way back then towards him. When both had no history with eachohter. Explain that.

Seems pretty basic stuff to me.
