This was a blessing in disguise for Ortiz to get knocked out in the controversial manner, because casual and Ortiz fans will have their defense mechanism prop them to think that Ortiz was still in the fight and that if it wasn't for the so called cheap shot, Ortiz would have won, making Ortiz still marketable to bank off these idiots, while everyone else knew Ortiz was getting walked down and was not landing that many clean shots as people thought he was. Ortiz was tiring, getting walked down, and not able to land many clean shots so out of frustration he headed butted Floyd. Ortiz was pretty much done at the fourth round and had no alternative then to play dirty to try and level the playing field his way cause Ortiz knew he was on his way of getting himself stopped.
I don’t know what fight you guys were watching at no point did that fight looked competitive. He got frustrated because he missed with everything he threw and he was getting tried. He knew he was about to get humiliated so he give up.
They were just watching with their "Floyd Hate" goggles on.

This is another thing I thought about shortly after the fight after all the guests left.
The casual fans will discard this loss and garner sympathy for Ortiz and continue to support him. Sort of a shame, though...because any neutral boxing fan will know that Ortiz won't be as big as he originally had planned before the Maidana loss.
Ortiz will always be an entertaining fighter, and he will continue to get fights, but be outclassed by fighters who are able to weather the early storm.
And another thing that another poster said here, statistics don't lie. Ortiz gets opponents out of there early, not late.
It's a blessing in disguise for Ortiz because he's going to get another multi-million dollar payday.
Re. the fight itself, Ortiz finally looked competitive in the 4th round, it was no blessing to have the fight stopped there.

Floyd was having his best round in the fourth. Come on.
Nah, imo he owned the first three rounds but Ortiz finally started to get through in the 4th. I think FMJ was still in control but things had evened up somewhat.
I guarantee if you made separate polls asking who wins Khan vs. Ortiz and Bradley vs. Ortiz, Ortiz would get the majority of the votes in both.
People love no heart southpaws, look at how long Judah has remained relevant.
:lol1:, you probably right.
I don't understand it at all.

This summarize Victor Ortiz perfectly.
I wonder if people still think this guy could beat Bradley or Khan? Hell, even if he could beat Cotto?

Blessing in disguise? If you meant blessed with a stupid brain, no heart, idiotic responses and no future other than a mediocre welterweight......then I agree with you.

Anyone who fools themselves into thinking Ortiz was in anyway competitive through those four rounds, and I've seen people on here saying he was, is just hating on Floyd because they can't stand to give him credit.
I can't stand the man but Floyd Mayweather the fighter was REALLY freaking good in this fight. He was going to have Ortiz crying in a corner if that fight kept going.
To Ortiz's credit, he was making the fight exciting by fighting back with his own attack after Floyd opened up on him for a short while. I think the ref would've jumped in to stop Ortiz from getting laid out cold.
I sensed it too. It's like they planned it all along.
Garcia to Ortiz : "If worse come to worst, head-butt his ass. That'll slow him down.
Keeping the cosign train moving..... That is all :boxing:
yep, I gave floyd the first three rounds but Ortiz landed two big shots in the 4th and the fight was beginning to open up

flomos are dumb az fukk... ortiz just started to get aggressive... not saying he would've won, but the fight just started to get interesting.

One thing's for sure; the fact it ended as it did has sort of let Ortiz get away with that headbutt. I still don't get how he didn't get or hasn't been pressed on that matter more.
In his post-fight interview he said he didn't mean it & that he didn't intentionally do it but you can clearly see him pull back & charge with the head.
Lost a lot of respect for Ortiz in this fight; especially with his reaction after the fight. It was almost as though he didn't give a dam. I'm not say cry in the ring but the guy showed no anger or frustration @ what Floyd did. It was just like he accepted it, sort of how he did it with Maidana. That stupid ass grin burns me up.
Super-cosign.
Look at Ortiz' record. He doesn't stop guys late. Ortiz has early power. And in four rounds, he didn't make a dent on Floyd. Shane and Zab landed better shots on Floyd.
Ortiz was done. He bailed himself out of a Gatti-esque beating. VO was tryingt o get himself DQ'd. That is what you call "pulling a Zab".
Zab is an expert at finding creative ways to avoid a beating.
Co-Sign!! I personally thought Oritz was mentally broken by Floyd. He's not a dirty fighter but when he headbutted Floyd that told me that he was gonna loss that fight weather it be Ko'd or just totally dominated thurout the fight.
