First thoughts are. Wow. not for the fight, not for the brilliance, but for how it ended. No one ever could have guessed it would have ended like that.
After pulling myself together and realizing what happened. I took a look back.
The fight completely changed 1:40 into the 3rd round with a subtle gesture. Nope...All the trash talk all, the choking, the pressure being on the world stage, something snapped in Ortiz. Nope. A head-shake. Nope. And at that moment Ortiz was not fighting to win, he was fighting to prove he belonged.
Seconds after that Ortiz started to fight, not aggressive, but angry. It all came to a head in the forth, literally and figuratively. He lost control every-time Mayweather would gesture to him your not hurting me, (nope) not even close. Was a truth or not, no one will know, but it broke something in Ortiz at that level and forced the error.
He wanted to hurt him with anything he had. If he didn't have a mouth guard he would have bit him. That's when the wheels fell off.
I've herd it before, i'm not sure where it stacks in the relevance of the rules and game planning for a fight. But it's common knowledge you should never fight angry. Wastes too much energy with unfocused passion, and that was Ortiz's undoing.
There is a fine line between passion and anger, Ortiz found where, but Mayweather knew.

MJ was the king of trash talk. Remember the free throw he made with his eyes closed when Mutumbo dared him too?
Yeah and when someone succeeds like that... it starts to **** with people. Exactly what happened to Ortiz in round 3.
Ortiz just isn't mentally tough enough to compete with boxers the calibre of Mayweather.
I remember when people would talk of Michael Jordan and his trashtalk apparently he was a legend. I think there is a breaking point with everyone... especially in that situation in the heat of the moment.
MAN! excellent evaluation. I saw the frustration building in Ortiz at the end of the third. I think FLoyd saw it too. I don't care what anyone says Floyd hurt him with that flurry at the beginning of the fourth and it was only going to get worse from there. I think Victor from that point on was looking for a way to have all this end.
After being choked, and Floyd looking at Ortiz like a loving father... just before the butt... Everyone has their limits. True hearts are shown in the heat of battle.

yep..Ortiz lost it Tyson style..he snapped and realized he couldnt hit floyd enough to hurt him and he was the one getting hurt..he lost it,snapped and spassed out..and thats when floyd layed his ass out..........
Yeah. It almost felt like Ortiz realized he lost it after he butted 'em. He tried to hard to apologize to Floyd.
But i think even if the fight went on Floyd would have picked him apart. The black eye was before the KO. Floyd was looking for a KO for sure. the best counter was when ortiz was shooting his jab and then floyd countered hard with a right hand after the forth jab. Ortize knew he was in way over his head early... imo.

Yep and he took them 2 punches like he felt it subconsciously he deserved them, thats why the smiling he didn't know how to act.
You could see the anger ripple in his face before he Koed Ortiz. I think he was pissed that Ortiz cut him that bad...
Honestly when you think about it... i would have thrown those two punches also... dude smashed his face into mine making me bleed i would be pissed no doubt!
of course he did... wifebeater doesn't fight anyone that actually has a chance to beat him
since you like the idea of may being a homo, do you have a pic of ortiz kissing mayweather last night????

I turned to my girlfriend 30 seconds into round 3 and said 'Floyd has worked him out, its going to be a shut out from now on'.
I noticed the change then, Floyd started hitting the counter left hooks, moving away at the right times and using the shouldner roll more effectly, basically by the start of round 3 I think Floyd had Ortiz's timing and you could see Ortiz getting more and more frustrated, leading to the headbutt and his KO.
Great post - as a fighter (am), it's true you should not fight angry. Takes too much mental energy and results in negative physical consequences. You must be focused, relaxed as if you just woke up... can't explain it.
