Ortiz was too green. He made 2 amateur mistakes that cost him the fight.
First he blatantly headbutted Mayweather in a round he may have been on the way to winning and making the fight even, for what seemed to me at least to have been absolutely no reason.
Second, he forgot the golden rule in boxing; Protect yourself at all times. Fighters don't have to wait until your ready, I've seen several fighters take full advantage of a fighter not staying focused or looking to the ref, basically not protecting themselves.
Ortiz would've won that fight if the ref did his job. Ortiz had Floyd figured out. He knew Floyd was scared to trade with him and all Ortiz had to do was throw combinations and he would've won the fight easy possibly by KO.
he was'nt too green, he was too fuken stupid.....he was owning floyd at times too....2nd round an the 4rth round was ortiz's... .
based on last night, floyd aint got a chance of winning vs pac..

nah i dont think its that... he tried to play dirty, mayweather made him pay for that
I agree that Mayweather responded back in kind, even though what he did wasn't a foul, but my point remains the same;
Why would you throw an obvious headbutt in a round you are on the way to winning?
Why would you pull back from a fighter with your hands at your side while looking at the ref?
He may not be green, but those were green mistakes. You live and you learn, let's hope Ortiz learned from this.
only a good vet or someone with veteran rough house tactics will headbutt his opponent and not get a point taken away for it. see holyfield, bradley, and ward.
getting hit with suckerpunches isn't a vet or green thing... gatti and mosley both got suckerpunched by wifebeater... ortiz should've known better. wifebeater has a history of suckerpunching... you gotta show fukkers like wifebeater no mercy and you don't apologize for shiit until after the fight.
Ortiz aint green, hes fought at the top tier of boxing for a while now..i get the feeling that these kinds of "mistakes" are going to be a feature of his career.
