Given how Floyd has altered his strategical mindset towards his last two fights at welterweight, do you think he will do better against Pac fighting like he did vs. Mosley and Ortiz, or should he be more cautios, defenseminded like in his previous fights at the weight?
Also. What are the pros/cons of both styles with regards to a fight with Pacquiao.
I have a strong bias for great defense, but at the same time, i think Floyd looked fantastic in the 4 rounds displayed tonight.
People keep saying Floyd has no power. Bull****, he tagged Ortiz repeatedly with that straight right hand and had Ortiz backpedalling in TWO ****ING ROUNDS.
Pacquiao CANNOT fight going backwards, FACT.
Didn't Pacquiao knock out Cotto going backwards? Yes he did, the 2nd knockdown.
From what I can see is Pacquiao is faster than Floyd at this point of their career, and Floyd's legs are questionable, but he is a bigger man.
The fight can go either way.
If Pacquiao doesn't get thrown off by Mayweather's mind games and doesn't get drawn into Mayweather's fight then he can do something that no one else has managed.
he knocked out a guy with his hands down. i could knock out many guys if they had their hands down. it aint nothing
He was knocking out Ortiz regardless of what happened. It was inevitable, it just happened a little earlier than expected
Manny should keep avoiding Floyd. Floyd fights tall and still has good hand and foot speed, plus great defense. I do not see how Manny can overcome the size issue, his weak jab, and lack of head movement. Floyd was shrugging off Victor's jab and was actually stepping in off his jab and throwing right hands. Manny's jab is not even on par with Victor's. I also think the size is major. Floyd does not give up his height. That means a lot when you are fighting someone who is smaller with shorter arms. JMM looked like a little kid against Mayweather. That was not because of weight. The fact is Manny will not over power Floyd or be stronger than him. Manny is not a inside fighter either. Manny will have to get Floyd against the ropes and land something big. Who is betting on that? Manny has a punchers chance against Floyd. Plain and simple.
This is all that i needed to read. Some people can't seem to see this as well. Even when he's coming forward he still knows how to use his longer reach and sometimes his height to his advantage. He came forward but he fought Ortiz at long range which allows him to timed Ortiz's rhythm perfectly. He fought aggressively smart unlike other face-first Boxers who'd rather come forward at close range leaning with their faces forward. Manny's only advantages(IMO) would have to be his speed and power. He's not gonna get away jumping in and out against someone who can fight at long range to give himself enough space and time Manny's rhythm.

Ortiz was on his way to getting stopped and he took the easy way out. Floyd has a way of discouraging fighters by hitting them with pin point precision hard flush shots. pac is no different his punch output is going to decrease and his going to get stop late.
floyd too open for a straight left
and ortiz wasnt exploring it
floyd was fighting a right hand fighter on a southpaw stance
floyd will be eating pacs straight left all night while pac already on floyds left side throwing extra 2-3 punch combo
LOL your dreaming kid , Floyd dont eat any punches from anybody , Manny could not catch old Mosley , Floyd will school him , 100% school him !!
Ortiz was never in the same league, I've said it from the start.
Floyd looked damn amazing but then again he looked even more amazing because of Ortiz.
If he paid off Pacquiao like he did Ortiz then very high.
man there are some dumb mother****ers on this site
this is the 2nd "paid him off" poster I've seen, this is getting ridiculous

you're on crack...Ortiz didn't land more than one straight left...go watch the fight. Lampley was dead wrong.
What fight were you watching?? Victor was missing like crazy against the ropes. I just watch that part of the fight like 10 times back to back. Ortiz was losing and he got desperate, thus throwing the headbutt. Ortiz was 160 vs a 147 pound Mayweather yet Mayweather was walking him down. If the fight would have went on Mayweather would have stopped him in the later rounds.
yup. Lampley was biased and swayed the public. I have dled the fight and watched it again. Mayweather impressed me even more. That right hand doesn't miss and he sits down on it from time to time. Floyd has some very good pop with his shots...more than I ever seen from him. His footspeed has slowed but his footwork is as good as ever so it makes no difference.
FLoyd was amazing last ngiht, and if the fight continued he would have broke Ortiz down. Ortiz was running a lot in the fight and it was only a matter of time.
As a mayweather fan I'm actually mad that Floyd won so early, because I feel like he would have put on an amzing beatdown in that second half. Ortiz didn't want to fight.
Mayweather would beat Pac but stop him? Child, please.
Im 60 and I got no doubt Floyd will stop Manny , he will break him down and stop him in the late rounds , I dont think Manny can do a thing with Floyd , he is too good everywhere and is bigger , he will stop him Im sure of it .
Floyd was getting tagged on the ropes? Since when? Marquez is slower, flat footed and stands right in front of Pacquiao so what are you talking about.
Ortiz was 165 lbs and getting backed up. Pacquiao won't be more than 150. Pacquiao wil be stopped.
Yeah Floyd was walking down a guy much bigger than he was, and he wasn't getting tagged repeatedly on the ropes. I'm watching the fight again right now, he gets hit with less than 5 or 6 flush shots on the ropes, he effectively rolls with a lot of Ortiz's punches. Floyd wasn't really caught a single time in this fight, nothing that would "hurt" floyd or put him in trouble, watch the fight again for yourself if you want to be truly objective
I don't think this fight looked even remotely hard for Floyd in those 4 rounds, even the commentators were saying Floyd is dominating him, Ortiz is fighting Floyd's fight, Round 4 Floyd started landing repeated combinations and had Ortiz's eye already swollen
This was easy work for Floyd like I called it would be before the fight
Watching floyd get hit with lead right hooks on the temple over the top of that shoulder roll, and watching him get tagged and shifted around on the ropes...all the while obviously looking very uncomfortable, tells me that his legs really have lost a step. I don't see how mayweathers current day activity in the ring would be enough to stop a 12 round onslaught of southpaw pacquiao punches, unless he completely outclasses/outboxes pacquiao from the start. And I just can't see him doing that standing infront of pacquiao in the philly shell stance all night.
