almost all commissions and sanctioning bodies require 10 oz above the 147 limit (ie the fight is at JR mw or above.)
obviously gloves can be used as a means of leveraging deals, but the general rule is observed more often than not. think about what might happen if a guy dies in a fight with smaller gloves than the commission regularly requires
my guess would be (and im only guessing because i havn't heard anything specific to the contrary from a verified source) that they will be using 8 oz gloves.
floyd in grant
ortiz in reyes
that's my guess.
I absolutely detest 10oz gloves in welterweight fights. What's funny is Mayweather has complained about having to use 'pillows' before (Hatton/Oscar) so if they are fighting with 10oz you know it's Mayweather who has asked for them to blunt Ortiz's edge in power. I hope it's not the case!
And remember being Neveda both fighters have to agree for 8oz gloves to be used. To be fair Floyd has a good track record here and I can't recall him making anyone use 10oz gloves. I also believe him when he said he's going for the knockout so wearing 10oz doesn't make sense.
I'm sure they will be 8 oz gloves just like with SSM and JMM. WW are all using 8 oz now. Only people on here think it's some big concession by PBF to use 8 oz gloves.
Who actually walks in first? I know the belt is on the line which means Mayweather should but with his ego am hoping not to see the beltholder walking in first.
Mosley walked first, so Ortiz probably will too.
