If you're asking me if Gamboa clearly won, then yes Gamboa clearly won. Salido had his moments though. But, never once was Gamboa did I feel that Gamboa was in any serious trouble or in the verge of losing the fight. Okay, then, my point is that clearly beating a guy like Salido is, in and of itself, fairly impressive. Whether it was a spectacular win or not by Yuri is a little unfair, IMO. Right now, for Mikey Garcia, even getting past "Siri" by a SD would be impressive. Gamboa has a ways to go. Regardless of his amateur experience, Yuri is still evolving as a pro. (I would argue that he, and other Cuban defectors, spent too much time in the ams. It probably hurt their ultimate professional potential.) For now, it's safe to say that "El Ciclon" is (was) the man to beat at 126, and that he's an exciting fighter with major promise going forward.

I understand all that. But you didn't address my comments about Yuri's win over "Siri": Gamboa didn't look spectacular, but he handled Orlando quite convincingly. Do you agree or disagree? The Juanma win made that Gamboa win better though, that is what I'm saying. Salido is the same fighter post Juanma than he was pre Juanma. But, he didn't have a marquee name pre Juanman. So beating Juanma made the Gamboa win better than it was before Salido beat Juanma. I understand all that. Exactly he is. You see Garcia fight, you see Salido fight, you can tell who the more skilled talented fighter is. I do agree that will intangibles can beat skills and talent. We don't know how much grit, Garcia has yet though. He hasn't had to use it yet. So yes I do agree that so far Salido has showed more in this department. And, I also agree that Salido is the best fighter that Gamboa fought for whatever reason. I was making a reference to Gamboa not being allowed to fight Lopez.

Frankly, I think Ponce is somewhat overrated. But Salido? He's underated, IMO. Mikey is better schooled and more talented than "Siri", but Orlando is a very tough, blue-collar fighter. Sometimes grit can triumph over talent. A guy like Salido, who came up the hard way, can really rough up a kid like Garcia. Orlando is better than anyone Mikey has faced. Barros gives García a thorough beating right now, right from the bell. Why? What does Barros do that would give Garcia trouble? What does Barros that would give Lock trouble? But, since they're not top contenders or not shown on HBO or Showtime at a regular basis then one person might consider them as "nobodies" And, it's not even that he beat them, that makes him one to look out for.
