Im not a troll, im a a boxing fan. Not a Pactard, although i will say that Pac is the exact opposite of Floyd. Floyd grew up in the suburbs. His uncle Jeff has said his whole persona is false. He was never hungry, never lacked for anything. I can see with his crazy father, why he might be a bit mentally unhinged. he never really had a childhood, and it ****ed him up, ala michael jackson. But even in his 30's, his behavior is that of a child. he's pedaling a lie, hence his insecurities. He's a fraud. im not saying that he isnt tough - he is, he gets hit in the face for a living - but he's not from the ghetto. He surrounds himself with people from harsher upbringings - but that doesnt make him ghetto.
When i look at Floyd, i cringe.
That is all.
Like someone else mentioned......Floyd suffers from Michael Jackson syndrome. Both had no childhood and were pretty much forced by thier fathers to be succesfull at their craft from a very early age. Only difference is, Michael liked to hang out in a tree, think he was peter pan, and have sleepovers with children. Floyd is just an immature man-child who thinks its cool to act like an ass and continuously brag about how much money he has.
you elaborated on that michael jackson point pretty well, great post
I'd say Andre Ward would be a good place to start if you wanted a boxing role model to look up to.
If role models are what you seek in boxing then I would agree. The same could also be said of the Klitschko brothers.

I find it very hard to judge or psychoanalyze people I know, let alone someone I have never met. I dont particularly like the way the guy tries to sell his fights, I find it downright corny and even cornier are his fans, who actually get taken in by all of that stuff.
He is just another dude with his own faults and foibles, the difference is that he is a sports star who unlike other sports stars, footballers, golfers etc. has to sell his fights to a PPV audience in order to make the vast sums of money he craves.
He seems to understand that he is more hated than loved and he can see the opportunity to make money on the strength of that. Class doesnt come into this for me because some of the most fukked up and disfunctional people I have met fall into what you might pigeon hole as upper middle class.
Its true that in equal measure if you either love(flomo) or hate(haterz..lol) the guy then you are giving him what he needs and he can congratulate himself on a job well done.
Genius in the ring. Complete tool outside of it.
Shame, you watch early interviews of him and he could have turned out all right. Imagine how he could have been a role model to inspire young black people, instead he just waves his money in their face and says 'look at me, I'm getting paid and you're poor, f**k you'.
I take it a different way. I see it as him saying, if you WORK HARD, rather it be in your profession, going to college, this is what you can get, this is what you can succeed.
Trust me, either way black kids have millions of others role models, Floyd Mayweather might not even crack the top 100 of role models for black kids, most say they want to be like Lebron James, Jordan, Kobe, Barack Obama or some actor.

Floyd gets away with his act because he's black.
If he was Asian or White he would be shunned by the media for his antics and forced to apologize by civil rights organizations for his racist rants.
He is a privileged Black American with a huge sense of ENTITLEMENT.
Let's face it, there is a HUGE DOUBLE STANDARD in this country and it makes me sick.
Idiot.
.
I totally agree with the TS. This is why I'm not a Floyd fan, his personality is just ridiculous and he has really fallen into this "Godfather" persona. I mean that won't stop me from watching him fight, buying his PPVs and just admiring his amazing boxing skills, but his personality is just retarded. He is a child in a grown man's body.
Jeff Mayweather once came out and said that Floyd had it pretty good growing up as as kid. Sure he might not have had the ideal parents, but he was actually raised by his grandmother. He spent his entire youth in a boxing gym and never had to wonder where his next meal was coming from unlike Oritz. Shiit come to think of it, MY childhood was rougher than Floyd's.
Floyd says he's tired of hearing about Ortiz's story. Did it ever occur to him that the viewers are sick and tired of him talking about how rich he is every single time the camera is on him???:dunno:
Great point.
We get it you don't like Floyd's persona because what you saw on TV. Pretty sad how TV moves and influences people into thinking and feeling what the media wants.:nonono:
I thought this was all an act in order to draw in viewers?
You guys need to make up your minds. LOL.

Floyd didn't grow up rich, wtf is wrong with you. Mother was on drugs, father was a drug dealer/trainer who was abusive and sold those drugs to his mother. SR wasn't rich, had a lil money maybe but far from rich. Stayed with his grandmother with 6-7 people. It wasn't easy at all growing up

mmm that delicious white whine
Well, for one thing Floyd is 35 and still acting like a teenager.
