Gamboa said himself that he was reluctant to trade with De Leon because he respected his power. He was hoping that De leon would lose some steam in the latter rounds.
Gamboa started to turn up the heat shortly before the stoppage and De Leon was looking kinda weary IMO. I think he could have stopped him had the fight went about 2 or 3 more rounds.
it's very stupid to compare their performances against the same opponents, don't get why people still bring it up. i deff didn't think it would continue after salido faced both guys and we got to see the outcomes of those. gamboa did what he had to do tonight, and that's win. ponce came to fight, that was obvious, but he didn't really win a round. i don't get why people are getting so irritated that this fight went some rounds.
Clowns keep bringing previous fights up, but selectively, like Moneynevalost now.
Yes, and broke his will. NO MAS. It's warm, you'll like it :bottle:
Oh, and he KO'd the guy who had Juanma in queer street, and he UD easily the guy who gave Juanma the beating of his life. You had forgotten those two.

Salido while lost also dropped gamboa and should have won the fight via DQ since gamboa hit him in the back of the head in the last round
Ahhh, going there. So Gamboa should have won via KO, because Salido wasn't gonna get up from that one. Gamboa actually bought him some time. You are pathetic. Crawl back into your lair.
he gamboa's the best man he headbutted a guy who lopez took out in 1 round

He went 12 rounds in the last year and a half against 2 current titlists and finished strong against Salido, even better than he started, but he felt it necessary to prove to the "critics" that he can take into the late rounds?
Seriously? Gamboa's a good fighter, so there's no need to make sh!t up about how good he is. Gamboa's too impatient to be carrying an opponent for 8 rounds. Gamboa turned it up in the 8th because he wasn't getting counter punches thrown at him and most of his punches started to get through DPL's guard. De Leon didn't want to continue because he saw the writing on the wall that he was going to take a beating.
It takes time to figure out awkward southpaws, especially ones that have 1 punch KO power.
LOL sure he did with a headbutts and all seriously gamboa DID NOT look impressive he was scared of ponce's power and didn't go for the kill :dunno:
Ponce said "no más, no más, the scorecards." :D Here, take it :bottle:
I got my money on broner or garcia if he fights them
You're gonna lose your money.
There have been worse cuts in recent history...if Ponce wanted to fight he could have....
That wasn't his decision. :slap:
I don't think Gamboa carried him, but I don't think Gamboa was on his A-game either, although De Leon had something to do with it. De Leon isn't a bum and I wasn't surprised to see Gamboa struggle a bit, good win for Gambs though.
Maybe his trainer hinted to him that it was better to go to the score cards.
Well I respect the Cuban boxers, one of my all time favorite El mantequilla napoles.
yeah thats what i got from it, the trainer was kind of hinting him to chose scorecards
I think that is exaggerating the outcome.
That's quitting for you. Do you really think PDL or his corner thought he was ahead in the scorecards? Please.
Gamboa wasn't toying with him. He was tentative to go on the attack because Ponce was timing, blocking, and landing counter punches on him. When the fight was stopped De Leon had worn down and finally stopped counter punching, which had Gamboa going in for the kill.
Gamboa just isn't the type to toy for 8 rounds, he'd get bored and want to finish it after a couple rounds. Gamboa seems as if he's "toying" because he exudes supreme confidence.
I would like to see the video again. Do you have video of this?
catch de replay on hbo i got it on my dvr the coach asks ponce and when he says scorecards like tempting him ponce goes si si with his head check it out
