Victor
PROS
* high intensity training
* obviously highly motivated
* Hunger is apparent
CONS
*very poor footwork in sparring
* Inaccurate punching (punching for impact, not accuracy)
* While I believe he is training very intensely, I don't think he understands how good Floyd really is.
FLOYD
PROS
* INTENSE training
* Usual attention to ACCURATE punching
* A focus on inside fighting (hard body shots)
CONS
* Leeches and parasites that surround him ( aside from uncle, Ellerbe, sparring partners, kids,50 cent) .
* Dietary habits and sleep patterns are no good especially for an aging fighter.
i'm actually not all that impressed with floyd's training. there's no doubt it's effective, but he does the same things over and over and over......and then does them some more later in the day. he doesn't absolutely nothing to challenge his normal movements or improve power and explosiveness. which is why he has none. i get what his game plan is and has always been - he's going to rely on accuracy and quickness and let whatever power he has in his punches add up over the course of several rounds. there's no shame in that and it's obviously worked well for him. but i'm still of the opinion that maximal training involves much more strenuous physical explosion than the trademark mayweather "pattycake" routine.
He walks around at near welterweight limit, how does he have a bad diet? His sleep schedule is the same, not everyone is going to have the same circadian rhythm, and there are studies that show this as well.
Everything else I'd agree with.
Sad thing is now I'm only going by the clips I've seen but Vic looks to only be training for strength and punching power, I don't think he's trying to improve technically, the strategy I see is basically trying to overwhelm Floyd, there will be no plan b...
Similar to Shane's comments, "I'm just as fast", "im stronger", "i punch harder", but none of that **** played out and surprise there was no plan b...Ortiz saying things like "i don't see nothing special", "he's not that great", "he doesn't belong in the same ring with me"...
Sounds like over-confidence & under-estimating a proven p4p great, sounds like a recipe for destruction to me and by the way, Ortiz looked slow as hell on the speed bag...
Someone should contact Ms. Jackson's twitter and tell her to work it up a bit for the cameras. I know she's just promoting herself, but I feel bad everytime Floyd tries to kiss her.
Thats what I said, its completely akward. She always pulls back.

As most around here Ive seen plenty of footage of Mayweather training and to me he looks smaller than usual and just not as physically hardened or intense as I have seen in the past. I have to wonder with the long layoff and everything going on outside of the ring, will this be the first misstep of Floyd's career?
Combine that with the simple fact that Ortiz is a young, strong, fast southpaw who seems to be absolutely brimming with confidence and determination will this at the very least be a tough fight for Floyd?
I'll go out on a limb here and say yes. In fact I think this could be the first fight we see Floyd roughed up and shook. I dont know if Ortiz can actually stay with Floyd through the whole fight but I think he will make him earn his money this time.
Floyd is working on stamina and speed......he has seen how Ortiz burns out in the final 4 rds....Floyd wins the fight in those rds.
The observation I made was that Ms. Jackson simply DOES NOT like to kiss Floyd. Last night she yet again pulled away from him :sad2:.
Too bad he's too dumb to see she only wants his money.
I don't think it's a bad idea for Ortiz to muscle his way through with big power. It's obvious that Floyd is much more skilled. Trying to box Floyd is asking for a funeral. He has no choice but to try & be stronger & overpower Floyd.
mayweather is going to beat him EASY ! i hate to say it but it will be EASY WORK. lets bet :boxing:
it's not going to be easy.............. you're exaggerating
Floyd needs to stop playing and get a nutritionist. Its the third rail of athletics.
Drinking soda for breakfast i mean you gotta be kidding me.
Can you imagine Bhop doing that?
34 year old Floyd looks slower. If his reflex speed decayed as well he could be in trouble.
Also Ortiz looks really big and was really banging the mitts and bag hard. I am taking the Las Vegas odds an putting my money on the underdog.
i give ortiz a big chance to win this fight. people will say oh he isnt as technical as floyd. but who is? was JLC the greatest technical fighter when he fought floyd? no he stood there and threw down and out banged him. ortiz is young, fast, power which floyd hasnt seen in such a long time. he is in there against a bigger guy not some small church mouse like marquez or hatton. or old man mosley.
mayweather had a different style back then, he is a better inside fighter, now
doesn't move as much. he is physically more stronger and probably sits down on more of his punches.

Floyd is now the same age Oscar was when Oscar faced Floyd...he is also as inactive as Oscar had become. He is not the same Floyd he used to be. Ortiz eventually lands hard on everyone and Floyd no longer has the foot speed to avoid it like he used to. I think this will be a different type of fight for him. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out and if Ortiz can wear him down. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Floyd gets caught with something and gets thrown off his game.

Good point, I think Ortiz does know just how good Floyd is he's just trying to hype himself up and talk with confidence. What is he suppose to say, "Floyd is an amazing fighter who will never be beat"?

so your trying to say you know more about boxing than he does? is that why he has the WBC strap and your critiqueing him? he knows how good that dude is and if he losses he losses its a boxing match. 1 winner , 1 loser. plain and simple
