Ortiz was able to throw so many punches against Berto because Berto has no defense and no ability to cut his opponent's workrate. He's there to punch. Ortiz also got hit a lot. Peterson is not a garbage fighter at all, and I would never say that. But he has many of the all around skills Floyd did, except Floyd is FAR better at it all. And we saw how Peterson controlled that fight the last 5 or 6 rounds. How is Ortiz going to beat Mayweather? He isn't a pressure fighter, and if he tried to force the action against Mayweather the same way he did against Berto, he'll get smacked around. He did a good job of it. if Garcia gets him to work on the jab, he'll close the distance effectively. All he has to do is force the fight. It's rather simple. Ortiz has a crap jab. It would be an amazing turnaround to suddenly have a jab capable of bothering Floyd in the least. Like I said before, he was more active against Berto because Berto can't stop anyone from being active. The pressure he used against Berto would not work against Mayweather, at all. If there was some body of work Ortiz had at 147 that allowed me to ignore 140, I would, but he was there the fight before last. His flaws at 147 are the same as at 140. Maybe Floyd doesn't use his legs like he used to, he hasn't had to yet and I doubt they are still what they were 5 years ago. But he won't have to against Ortiz either. The bottom line is the skill difference. Ortiz has a massive disadvantage there, and is not more athletic than Floyd either. Like JRosales said, Mayweather will lose soon. But Ortiz is not that guy.

Although Floyd is inactive I don't believe the inactivity will hurt him the way it did Oscar and Sugar Ray Leonard. Those guys were boozing, doing drugs, ad letting their weight balloon up which has a devastating effect on the body especially when you're over 30. Floyd doesn't drink, smoke, and stays in shape year round. Look at Vitali Klitschko and how dominant he has been at his age. It's due to the fact that he stays in shape all year and lives a clean life style. Floyd also takes minimal punishment in each fight. Father time does beat everyone. And, it will beat Floyd as well. Father time even beats fighters who are just technically and fundamentally sound as Floyd is. But, everybody difference. When you do, take into consideration the the age of that fighter & the weightclass. After that add to it that Floyd hasn't even had more than 3 fights in the last 4 years.
