Floyd is not Berto. Berto after punches stays in front of his opponents and gets countered. Ortiz had a lot of success with that. There is a reason why fighters stop rushing into Floyd. Ortiz has a punchers chance
I thought I was going out on a limb to say Floyd would stop Ortiz, but apparently not.
If he doesn't stop Ortiz, it will be because Ortiz took a beating and just showed some heart.
mind says floyd is the smart choice even as a critic ive got to respect his skills etc but 16 months out of the ring and at his age has got to bring abit of rust especially against a young guy like victor ortiz who has knocked down every opponent he has ever faced, my predicition is floyd wins by UD but i wont be surprised if victor knocks him down in the fight,
i mean think about floyd aint faced a young guy in his last few fights, mosley, marquez, hatton (1 year younger yes i know), de la hoya, baldomir or judah so we shall see what happens, not buying entirely into the hype but victor is a guy who has come far in life so he aint got nothing to lose but everything to gain so thats why this fight is exciting me abit more in a way to look forward to.
I don't rule out a stoppage.
But, I think if it gets to stage where Victor is constantly backing up and his output has been drastically reduced then I think it will be a case where he will survive for the ret of the fight.
Floyd isn't the kind of guy that will really force a stoppage, he waits for it to come to him. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn't, oh well.
And I just don't think that Ortiz will constantly keep coming whilst taking consistent punishment like say Ricky Hatton would.
I was talking to IronDan last week, and I mentioned that...
"I think he will have Vic backing up around the mid to late rounds in this fight. And when that happens, I hope he gets a stoppage"
He always brings it against southpaws, it's gonna be a fun watch :D
And it ain't that small 146 pounder that entered the ring against Judah, this Floyd is bigger, much stronger, I'm expecting a stoppage.
Floyd is stopping him.

At first I was thinking Floyd would win by UD. But I think in this fight he is going to come forward more and press the fight. While Ortiz may enjoy some early success Floyd is going dominate him in the long run. Floyd by KO/TKO in 9 rounds or less.
