Berto vs Khan for Khans WW debut.
Before anyone says that's a "hell of a first WW fight" Khan and many of his fans are already saying he can beat Pbf so Berto is not out of the question for his first fight.
My opinion, Berto By KO early. I dont think Khan has anything in his arsenal to stop Berto from walking him down. Berto dose not have the best foot work but hes got enough speed to cut the ring off on Khan and turn it into a brawl. I dont know what kind of power khan would have at 147, but hell need more power than he has now to get a W over Berto.
Your thoughts?
Khan-Judah all over again. Roach would come up with a masterful gameplan and completely shut Berto down. Khan would pick him apart from the outside. Berto has no jab and fights in bursts, very inconsistent. I mean he has too many flaws to list.
Khan's conditioning is his only chance. He has to survive the first half of the fight.
But I think Berto hits too hard and knocks him out, Khans chin is still suspect to me.
Khan would beat the hell out of him and get a wide UD or late stoppage.
Khan is becoming really good at the Pacquiao style in and out fighting, and Berto doesn't have the defense or counter punching ability to do anything about it. He would get beat on for as long as the fight lasted.
And yes, Khan could take the odd right hand that Berto would land once in a while. Berto doesn't pressure, and can't really counter punch, so his chances of landing a fight ending punch are extremely low.
Khan's 1st fight at 147, better not be against Berto. I already daid in another tread Khan leaves his chin up when he lets his hands go. Berto is just as fast & has more power. Plus he's naturaly bigger & both guys tire, not just Berto. Khan will get worn down quicker trying to wrestle of a bigger fighter.
I see Khan using a lot of lower body movement, scoring points from a distance with his jab and pitty-pat punches en route to a UD. There's no way he stands and trades with Berto like Ortiz did because he isn't as strong or punch hard enough. Additionally, he runs the risk of getting stopped by exchanging and trading punches toe to toe with Berto.

Ive got Kahn winning this by UD. In my opinion there are two ways of beating Berto, one is to out tough him (Ortiz) and the other is to make Berto work hard to get his punches off. Kahn would most likely box on the outside, throw combo's and win rounds. I still have doubts about Berto's stamina and his footwork and defense is pretty poor.
Hmm, I need to see how Khan takes a punch at 147, before voting. Berto could kill him with an uppercut, but I see a wide UD by Khan based on speed and skills.
Great matchup. Tough style for both , I think footwork and timing (jab) wins this fight for Khan but if he decides to brawl and or leave himself open to counter, you best believe Berto is going to land some good shots and prolly get him outta there. I just think Khan has a better team, better footwork & overall conditioning/skills and will most likely come in with a better gameplan then Berto. Im not by any means saying Berto's skill are no where near Khans, I just think overall Khan has the slight edge over Berto.
I would love to see this fight. Very interesting to see how Khan deals with Berto's size, speed and power. Khan is a tall jrww so he might appear larger but Berto is a career ww who i think fought as a mw either early in his career or as an amateur.
Before Khan goes against someone like Bero test him out with someone like Mike Jones.
Honestly I think Mike Jones has a better chance in beating Khan than Berto does.
Jones would be a tougher test for Khan than Berto would be IMO.
TBH we haven't seen Khan tested either unless you want to call Maidana a test Berto's power and hand speed is going to be a problem unless Khan moving to 147 improves his chin by a lot.

I just can't see how Berto can beat Khan...He just not that good. I can see Bradley(even though he's ducking Khan) beating Khan. But, Berto? I don't know, he's an average fighter at best.
Floyd dominates Khan. Ortiz has a better chance against Khan than Berto does. And, I will pick Khan to edge out Ortiz.
Berto has the fact that he's a natural welterweight going for him in this matchup. He suits the weightclass perfectly and he has excellent build but he has no game and he has no reach.
Whats he gonna do? Grow an extra two inches in height and on his arms?
Khan is gonna be natural at 154. It will be his optimum fighting weight in my opinion. However in going up to 147 I believe he will outgame Berto.
I haven't seen Berto tested except against an Ortiz that JUST popped out of 140 where he was dazzled by Maidana and Peterson.

I forgot to add, he could just keep Andre on the outside and dismantle him.
No sweat cos Berto is quite one dimensional. What Berto had going for him on Saturday were size and power.
Khan is bigger and could deal with him.
You say as if hes at that level where he can pull off a boxing clinic for 12 rounds against a fighter of Bertos caliber. Hes not at that level yet, he couldnt pull that kind of performance against Miadana, hows he gonna do it against Berto? As one denominational as Berto is hes just as fast, has more reach and much much stronger.
