Quite a good fight, from a fan perspective, and one that I think needs to happen for us to get a better guage on the heavyweight scene. Helenius at this point has beaten the better opponents and is on a roll. Chris seems to have rededicated himself and has come into his last few fights in better condition. Both guys are tough and can bang. I'd give the power edge to Helenius and the toughness edge to Arreola, though that's still a bit of a question mark around Helenius.
Arreola is one of the more aggressive combination punchers in the division, and Helenius has traditionally started slowly. However, he possesses sneaky power and tends to come on very strongly later in the fight.
If Nips keeps the pressure on in the early going he might build a substantial points lead or even hurt Helenius, though given how badly his face puffs up I'd expect him to be very much the worse for wear if this goes beyond eight.
I'd personally go for Helenius, as I think his confidence is sky high at the moment whilst Arreola is in the rebuilding phase after suffering two losses to Adamek and Vitali.
What do you think?
I think Helenius needs to develop a stronger and more precise jab to win this fight, so atm I got Arreola winning.
Definitely. Thing is, Helenius actually has a pretty good jab but he doesn't throw it with commitment enough of the time. He'll just resort to sort of pawing it or sticking it out there like a fat chick throwing a boxercise punch. It's not a technique issue so much as a concentration and urgency issue.
helenius needs to work on his footwork if he improves on that he would beat arreola very easily in my opinion
Not just his footwork but his whole sense of maintaining distance, which would be improved mightily by a more assertive jab. At the moment he just lets fighters do what they want to him, and covers up by way of defence. It's worked thus far, due to his power, but that doesn't mean it's always going to work and Arreola will really bust Hellboy up if he lets him. Nips isn't an amazing fighter but it would be a mistake to let him build up steam.
Nobody is making him out to be anything more than he is. It would be different if I was liking his chances against the Klitschko brothers. Arreola on the other hand is a sloppy brawler coming off a recent beating the same way as Peter, Brewster and Liakhovich were. Maybe he has a little more fight left in him and that would be interesting to see.
Apologies if it is too offensive a thought to you that Arreola with his face first defense could be beaten by a guy who hits hard.
It's just moderately humorous that you would criticize Helenius for facing Klitschko victims, then praise Arreola for being one.
True. Helenius is still very much a work in progress but whatever one may think about the state of his recent opponents you can't deny that knocking out three former champions, all of them durable, after scarcely more than 15 fight, is damned impressive and something to talk about. I like the Arreola fight because it'll force Helenius to address his problems, namely his weak jab and his tendency to coast. And also because more than likely we're going to see some brutal exchanges and a stoppage.
I'm sure beating Sergei is quite a great indicator of his stock. I know you people haven't had a one hit wonder since Hammer of Thor, but you need to ease up on this guy. He has done nothing.
Peter and Liahovich were done long ago.

To be fair though Liakhovich only fought 4 times in the last 4 1/2 years and had a .500 record in his last 4 fights.
So even though he was a former HW titlist, lets keep it in perspective on where he actually was as a fighter when the fight happened.
Helenius still showed good skills and no doubt is a true HW contender.
I thought the same about Lyak when the fight was announced, but his performance on the night showed me that he still had a bit of fight in him. It was a harder fight for Helenius than many were expecting, and that was down to Lyakhovich.

What a fukking douche bag you are. Seriously, the Nordic Nightmare has 16 fights under his belt and you criticizing the guy for beating past prime former hw titlists/champion (if you want to call 'em that)? Most hw prospects are fighting cans at this stage in their careers. You really are out of touch with reality here..
Arreola has been fighting a bum of the month while Helenius has fought back-to-back former hw titlists. Helenius is in a different class right IMO...

I agree. As a backer of Helenius I would not be too worried if he were to face Arreola since I see that as a much more favourable match-up for him than the more skilled heavyweights. Arreola has recently turned it around though and may be a more dangerous opponent that he was as 20 pounds heavier.
The sloppy Arreola of old that we are used to seeing would get hit too much by the hard-punching Helenius. If he could tighten up his punching technique and use the guard effectively, Helenius's tendency to coast and lazily trade punches might not be the best of ideas. This is the perfect fight for him to work on those issues. It is also the perfect fight for Arreola to show he is still a force in the division.
It's hard to say how Nips would react to Helenius's size and power punching at this point in time. He has experience of fighting the second best big man in the game today, and even if it was a one-sided losing effort he showed the chin and the determination to keep coming forward under relentless pressure. That was a while back though, and Nips hasn't fought a high quality opponent since Adamek. Helenius would be the perfect opponent to get back into the title picture even though I'd favour the big Fin to win. He's not super fast, not super slick, stands right in front of you all night, and gives you opportunities to get off combinations. If Arreola still has aspirations to make something of himself then this is a very winnable, if dangerous, fight for him.
I'm not sure if it would improve Helenius's stock much if he fought a Klitschko and got beaten like a drum for 11 rounds.
Don't dignify this guy posts, he's obviously a troll who isn't interested in logical discourse..
Arreola has at least fought a Klitschko. Helenious hasn't come close to that.

This is by far the best fight that can be put together in the HW division in terms of bringing back the buzz for the big guys both men will not be hesitant to mix it up and considering neither is the most fleet of foot the exchanges that'll take place should be brutal it might be cliched' but whoever has the better chin will probably come out ahead in the end.
Helenius has the advantages to take it but can he be consistent with his workrate and use his lenght and height he needs to develop a stiff hard jab and then he'd be even more scary
Arreola destroys this clumsy Eurobum.
What has he done? Beat a couple of Klitschko victims? Arreola has far more wrinkles in his game offensively and defensively, and even if he was still fat would have his way with this viking wannabe loser.
Arreola has not even done that much. He has only beaten one Klitschko victim.
At the moment Helenius has relied on absorbing everything his opponent throws then coming back to knock them out. A prepared Arreola won't give him a moment's rest, but will come straight at him. That's why I like this fight: it'll give us an idea of how Helenius deals with a constant pressure fighter with a good chin. Arreola's flaws we already know. He can be outboxed and gets befuddled by movement, two things he won't encounter with Helenius. Can he withstand the sickening uppercuts and hooks that Hellboy will unleash if he spots an opening? Helenius has a brutal talent for finishing guys off that he hurts, tough durable guys like Brewster and Peter, and Arreola's no defensive genius. He will get hit, and repeatedly. But then so will Helenius. The fight might come down to something as simple as who can dish out more than the other can take?

I like Helenius because I feel he is the future of the Heavy Weight division and because his name sounds like that of a greek god so that's awesome lol and he has good size and length and good pop.
But Arreola has way more expirience he may be a bit mentally weak (remember how much he hated Big Bear?) but he has a good heart and a tenacty that will overwhelm the young but exciting Helenius.
In a few year I have to go with Helenius because he will get better and then some but right now he gets beat by both Klitschkos and Arreola or Nips as he is so lovingly referred.
IMO
