Don't Understand The Hate For Ortiz Because He Surfs

I surf and skimboard from time to time. I live in Brownsville, TX. South Padre Island is about 20 minutes from me. The majority of surfers, kit surfers, etc are hispanic over here. There was even one dude who worked for Los Zetas who would always be at the island surfing (killed in Matamoros 2 years ago). Surfing is one of the hardest sports you'll ever try. I never been more injured from a sport than from surfing.

I doubt anyone here hates him because he surfs. Ortiz just has a weird personality, he's weird, but even that doesn't give me a reason to hate him. What I hate is how he denies that he ever quit against Maidana. He makes it seem as if though someone else took complete control over him that night.

Brand Rios and others list that and other things to discredit Ortiz and call him a white boy. It's kind of bizarre thing to hate on someone for, but whatever. I like Brandon and Victor as fighters, I don't care what they do in their free time. PS I am down in Brownsville every year, that is a cool ass town as is SP and Corpus Christi. :boxing:

I thought I was the only person on earth that lived in brownsville(I'm leaving as soon as I finish with school)....Ortiz doesn't really get hated on for surfing...it's just another thing to bring up and make fun of when people are bored...

guess you havent been on the forum often. i have. anytime its brought up its more of a joke type thing more than anything. most of the time anyone hates on him its because of the maidana fight.
