so why is Floyd fighting Ortiz again?
He didn't want to fight Margarito because "he has losses". He didn't want to fight Cotto because, "Cotto has to get his PPV #s up".
Seeing as how Ortiz is 2 for 2 in the losses and not being a draw aspect,
how is this fight justifiable when according to Floyd and his stans, guys with losses and no drawing power simply don't deserve a fight?
Got knocked out by a jr. welterweight, and dropped twice in his last fight against a prospect. He has no fan base, and has never, ever headlined his own PPV.
So why is this fight happening again?
Because I can, thats why. Because nobody exposes Floyd better than I.
Now, based on Floyds standards of losses and star power, can you justify this fight without being a groupie?
Keep crying Agbeko :bottle::bottle:
Cotto is the most overrated fighter on this entire forum.
Victor is young, hes champion. Because he's fighting Floyd, Pactards label him a bum.
Victor is a good fighter and is better than Cotto. This will be a better fight.
You guys act like Ortiz isn't a champion and that he hasn't redeemed himself after the stoppage against Maidana, in which I believe he was ahead.
LOL are you serious.. you dont know boxing son..
Cotto, Clottely and Marg are better then Ortiz...
Floyd is the worst cherry picker of his generation. He avoided prime welterweight threats and went after guys from lower divisions, or guys who were much older.
When the #3 welterweight in the world, has 1 fight in the division against another unproven and ordinary fighter, yes, its a cherry pick when he could easily fight the pfp #1 fighter.
But instead, he comes up with another excuse, drug testing.
wouldnt that make him the best cherry picker?? :smashfrea:smashfrea
One ear and out the other.
If what you call what Floyd's doing "cherrypicking" then he's certainly not the worst offender among active superstars.
And I could be retarded or something. But i fail to realize how fighting the #3 Welterweight in the world, all because the #2 guy doesn't want to fight you is a "cherrypick". In any sane, rational, boxing universe, this is a decent fight.
Cotto/Margarito vs Mayweather would've been great like 3-6 years ago. Too bad arum fugged that all the way up for us boxing fans. And too bad Cotto & Margarito had no consistency and their true identities got exposed. Get over it and move on.

No, it would've been better if these 2 fighters had showed some long term consistency (like Mayweather has) which would've set up an inevitable "megafight" somewhere down the line. But both fighters eventually got exposed for what they really were.
Also "would have been better" and easier to make a fight with these 2 if Mayweather didn't have longstanding monetary disputes with their promoter.
Don't you think Mayweather's financial issues with Arum was a major roadblock as well? Or do you conviently overlook this fact because it doesn't fit with your confirmation bias?
Consistency?
As in taking on tough fights year after year?
Or consistency as in, quitting in a championship fight on HBO and having never headlined a PPV?
What qualities does Ortiz have for a megafight that Margarito and Cotto didn't?
None. He is the same fighter that has losses like Margarito and the same fighter with no drawing power like Cotto.
With Floyds standards, there is no way to justify this fight when he avoided two guys for being who Ortiz is today.
ortiz is bigger hits harder 10 years younger he has some advantages over him thats why its a good match up
Sounds like Margarito a few years ago.
and just like Ortiz today, "Margarito had losses and isn't a PPV draw".
So, whats really the difference?
So it would've been better if he had've fought him a few months earlier? He still would've been 38 and the #1 Welterweight in the world, just like he was at the point when Floyd fought him. And Mosley was preparing for a fight in January '10 anyway with Berto, but it got cancelled. Ain't like he was coming from a retirement or anything. He was still active and seeking out fights.
No, it would have been better had he actually fought Margarito and Cotto, who were in their primes.
But instead,
he "retired". Then conveniently came back when neither was a threat anymore.
Hardly a coincidence.
Now, hes fighting a guy with losses, a guy who even got knocked out, and a guy who has never headlined his own PPV.
How can he or those who subscribed to Floyds mantra of , "he has losses and isn't a draw", justify that?
pacquiao fought mosley after he got his ass beat by mayweather and got a draw with mora and was 40 years old:dunno:
and? That has what to do with Floyd not fighting prime welterweights because he said they had losses and no drawing power? Nothing.
He fought Mosley when he was 38 and out of the ring for 16 months.
Yea, I can see how that is much tougher than facing a guy who is in his prime and fighting twice a year, year after year, after year.
pacquiao fought mosley after he got his ass beat by mayweather and got a draw with mora and was 40 years old:dunno:
Because he's the #3 Welterweight in the world. And the #2 guy doesn't want to fight unless he's allowed to have his bloodstream filled with illegal substances.
"Who? Shane Mosley that got 5 losses?"
"He's not a PPV attraction"
Despite the RHETORIC he still fought Mosley, correct?

LMAO did you guys see Cotto's face during the Floyd Mayweather - Gatti fight? That man had a face that clearly showed he wanted no parts of Floyd Mayweather.
Anyway, the fight might have happened if Floyd stayed with Top Rank. It would have been a good fight but Floyd would have been too fast for Cotto.
What would have Floyd achieved by fighting Margarito? He is a tough fighter but nobody would have given Floyd any credit whatsoever for beating Margarito. And in hindsight Floyd made the correct decision in avoiding Margarito because who knows how long this dude has been using loaded hand wraps.
Floyd is now risking his legacy by fighting a fighter who has nothing to lose and everything to gain. A fight like this is always dangerous and lets not forget that Victor is part of GBP. Floyd should win this easily but if Victor can land a few of his straight lefts then the night can turn bad for Money Mayweather.
Who says nobody would have given Floyd credit for beating Margarito?
Nobody but Floyd stans.
He ducked, he avoided, he retired and vacationed like a little ho.
Cotto is the most overrated fighter on this entire forum.

You got time to listen to every word that comes out of Mayweather's mouth, I rather not listen to a moron like him but hey thats why you're the Flomo...........Carry on :poke:
Uh, he said these things about 4 years ago.
You heard them, I heard them, we all heard them.
So again, can you justify this fight based on his own standards?
Most people agree that outside of Manny, Ortiz is the best 147 fighter that Mayweather could face right now.
He fought Oscar at 154 for way more money instead of fighting Marg. Do you think Floyd would be the PPV attraction he is now with out the ODLH fight?
I don't care about "PPV attractions". It doesn't make me a fan of boxing. Real fights like Marquez vs Vazquez do. I don't care how much money fighters make because thats not what I watch sports for. I watch to be entertained by competition.
Now, if Margarito was as easy as Floyd said he was, he would have beat him, before or after DLH. So nobody really gives a **** that he fought DLH for more money.
Now, about the welterweight class, its **** now. Compared to when it was really poppin' between 07 and 08, when Floyd was the lineal champion. He chose to avoid every single threat in the division at that time. Just because hes fighting someone deemed to be one of the best now, doesn't make up for lost time. Especially when that "one of the best now", has 1 fight at 147, against another unproven guy.
Why shouldn't he be held to the standard he created for himself?
No fan cared that any fighter had previous losses or were a PPV draw until Floyd made it an issue and used it avoid the best of the weight class.
