You know, I do not normally like stirring the pot, just talk boxing and strategy. But that quote is damn embarrassing and one I never caught. Not surprising, since Roach has made similar statements about other Pacquiao opponents. The bigger question is how come Roach just cannot keep his mouth shut? Don't get me wrong, if he never said anything, the weigh in should have ended any doubt about who would win the fight. But to me, Roach enjoys outing the validity of who Manny fights. Don't get me wrong, Floyd pulled his card in the Face-off, talking about destroying Ortiz. And before things get out of control, all blame goes to Oscar for agreeing to it, but I have always wondered did Oscar agree to 147lbs on purpose. I mean, since he is getting a cut from MP. He was sure to blow up after beating De La Hoya.
you pac-haters are fukkin dumb. pac just moved up to 135 lbs and was going to jump to 147 lbs.
if gamboa did something like that, you fukkers would call him crazy too.
Name one statement I made in any of my posts in this thread that implied hatred towards Manny Pacquaio. In fact, the thread has more to do with Roach specifically and his statements. Stop copying and pasting your BS in my thread.

I think the only time i've been happier seeing someone get beatdown was when Pac beat up Margs. If anyone saw the Oscar vs Forbes fight they would of been able to tell Pac was gonna touch him up a lot. My favorite Freddy Roach quote is by far "I've seen your last two fights" LOL
Thats the sad part, people here don't talk about Forbes picked apart DLH @ 150, now you expect him to do good @ 147. Roach knew exactly what DLH had in the tank, NOTHING. But people are still surprised "The Manchurian candidate" = PAC was an underdog, Las Vegas isn't stupid.
yes bums compared to mayweather..because money may is the best..
but hey at least he's not hiding behind his promoter and dodging the test :)
....oh shiii it rhymed.
So in other words you agree with me...
And please.. How many fights did Floyd had against non-GB fighters after he fought Dela Hoya..
Was Hatton under contract with GB? I do not remember. But again, forget the odds and that other bullsh!t. Anyone that did see the weigh in and could not process the outcome of the fight then there is no helping you. I am talking about Roach specifically undermining the validity of Pacquiao's opponents and the ability of Manny Pacquiao with his words. Saying we would not have fought someone in their prime is ridiculous when that same man states his fighter is in his prime at 147lbs. Here is another example that backs up my last sentence.
“Ricky Hatton, he got knocked out by Floyd and he beat Paulie Malignaggi. How good is he? Floyd is the much better fight. If we can get Floyd I want Floyd now because Manny’s in his prime right now.
“And we’ll give him a show, too.”

That article was after the Oscar fight. Manny is in his prime at 147lbs according to Roach, but would not fight De la Hoya in his prime at 147lbs. You can say Roach is just running his mouth, but that is my point. Roach's statements undermine Manny's abilities and his belief in his fighter.
so what if he speaks the truth, thing is roach discredits every single fighter before he fights them
look at what he has said about floyd
"pac will easily ko hiM"
"floyd has lost his legs" implying floyd is past it
roach is just trying to play mind games as always, he does it with everyone
A prime oscar would have defeated the 135 version of Pacman, but a past his prime oscar could not, we all know that.
But you know Roach does not believe that when it comes to Mayweather.

You can't compare the two at all. Manny seemed perfectly fine to me when he maintained his speed and was throwing combination after combination against a fighter who could hardly keep his hands up little own throw a punch back! Not to mention he has looked fine ever since not showing any signs of slowing down!
I really don't think 99 percent of people thought De la Hoya was going to be that weight drained to the point he couldn't even defend himself. It really was THAT bad!
I would personally enjoy the sport more if I saw more legitimate fights unlike the one we are discussing now!
Nobody knew that until the fight took place itself.. Everything else were just were saying that his chin would not hold up and he wont be able to carry the power with him t 135..
You guys are idiots.. How many times did Floyd Sr, and Roger told the media that Jr's opponents were bums, no good, no skills. The fact is nobody gave Pac a chance even after the Forbes fight. And no.. Pac agreed to fight DLH because he was giving a career pay day.. The same reason why Floyd chose to fight DLH also.. The difference is that Pac was clearly cherry picked by Oscar because he was to chicken **** to fight Marg.. Roach does not decide who Pac fight's next.. And in this case, it was DLH dictating the terms on every part of the contract..
Give the man his credit and respect for even taking a dangerous fight like that. Moving up 3 weight classes is always risky even if you are topnotch fighter. Otherwise every fighter would do it.

guess what manny was a 135 fighter moving up to 147 as a one off with only an 8 week camp, no way manny was at his best either in that fight
99 percent of people thought manny was going to get killed and now look at how many haters make excuses to discredit him. pathetic, appreciate one of the greatest fighters you will ever see in the ring, you will enjoy the sport a lot more

Roach was not afraid to say why he picked DLH. He said it millions of times, it's cause he saw DLH "couldn't pull the trigger any more" against Forbes, and Pacquiao is Forbes on steroids. He and Ariza were also very happy when they saw DLH huffing and puffing after running, and Roach was banking on Hoya coming in weight drained, he mentioned how DLH hadn't made 147 in 10 years. People called Roach crazy but come fight night, Roach was right in everything he said.

You are missing the point. Does Roach out the validity of Manny's opponents and the validity of Manny himself with his words? Usually a fighters card does not get pulled by his own trainer.

De La Hoya knew he was going to get his ass kicked by Cotto, Margarito or anyone relivant at the time. So why not get your ass kicked by a smaller dude for much more money? This was a head scratching fight at the time when signed and since then there have been some more head scratching matchups and accusations from them. Everyone involved knew what laid ahead of themselve$. De La Hoya benefited off of Pac even after their fight ended.
