Freddie Roach isnt a Klitschko fan, he used to work assist for them, but he picked Haye to beat Wlad etc...So pretty sure this settles it. Wlad is the hardest hitter of all time.
Thank you for that excellent and insightful contribution. Run along now.
:drillserg You don't scream loud enough with your Lennox Lewis picture, a guy who learned to boxe in Canada and then, ran back in his country.
Considering how tall he is and how good his technique is, it's not surprising. He gets a lot of leverage on his punches. Tyson was about explosiveness and speed.
And amazing weight distribution. Watching Tyson punch I'm amazed at how much of his body he puts into the punches yet is still rarely off balance. And despite his size he's so squat and compact that the punch has phenomenal solidity behind it.
Wlad's punches are explosive and fast as well, but they have more of the effect of a whip. If he can't get full extension on his shots it drastically diminishes the power of the punch. But every so often he'll hit someone just right and they'll drop like a stone.
Punch for punch, though, Tyson is the bigger hitter.
Maybe Roach is just intested in the money that boxing offers him, cause saying that a slow klit can hit harder than Tyson or ANY hard puncher in HW history is just stupid. Haye was still on his feet and please, don't tell me that Haye is a tough warrior. One jab by a hard hitting HW would have done it for Haye. The Klits are big atlhetes and they hit with some power, but they are slow. Speed ( with some weight behind it ) is the key, that's the reason why a very fast 120 pound boxer can KO a 220 pound bum, i saw it personnaly, i'm the one who told them to fight each other in the ring ! lol
The Klits are looking good because they are fighting in weakest HW division of all time. If by chance a good HW comes along before they retire, they will both look like average boxers.

Roach also said that David Haye would beat Klitschko...

nah i think Tyson hit harder. Otherwise haye would have been ko'ed by the wind of Wlads punches.
The Haye fight put Wlad's power into a clearer perspective for me. He can punch, but he's not the puncher I thought he was.

Holy was not known for his power
mercer was a bum, didnt even box till like 25 years old
McCall? Who?
So explain to me again why Shavers is a harder puncher than Tyson?
Why was a 350 year old Holmes able to hang with a prime Holyfield, Mercer and McCall then?

Besides even a young Larry holmes isn;t that great. He made a career out of ali's left overs.

Was Holmes a bum? Tyson dropped him with one shot, then knocked him unconscious. I don't give a shit about Holmes's age, who else ever did that to him?
Holmes was damn near 50 years old. He also got his glove stuck up on the ropes when tyson belted him.
Tyson only looked like a puncher when he fought bummy fighters. Look at his losses, all those guys took his best punch and laughed it off.
You can make anyone look like a puncher if they got the right opponent. Pauli malignaggi has 8 K.O's lol

No one in the sport ko'd every one with every single power shot they landed though there are plenty of highlights of Wlad putting fighters down in such a manner.
Even if we cannot determine whether he is the hardest puncher ever or not I think its possible and that he is certainly at the top of the list.
Yes, that's a perfectly fair statement to make, and one I wouldn't argue with.
Tyson's one punch prowess gets vastly underrated on here though. We was dropping numerous opponents with one shot. His blistering combinations in the early part of his career tend to make people overlook this fact.
Single shot power Wlad has more than anybody in the sport's history. Tyson is just a smaller man, more mobile and aggressive yes, but less weight and leverage.
Again based on what? He has the KOs against Chambers, Thompson, Shufford and Brock. OK, fair play to him for that, but are these wins alone enough to justify that claim? I really don't think so. Why could Wlad not emulate Lennox's win over Rahman? After all he had a much slower, fatter and older Rahman in front of him to do it to and was catching him clean. Why was Peter able to absorb right hand after right hand for twelve rounds, but gets put on queer street and nearly stopped by McCline? Why was Brewster able to take such punishment without going down in their rematch? He was getting strafed with full power shots, and Brewster, tough as he is, is not immune to getting rocked. Wlad's nowhere near as overrated as a one-punch artist as someone like Shavers is, but he still gets overrated like hell.
