Its good for the sport when a fight that "MUST HAPPEN" and can't otherwise happens...
However if u have the ability to weigh within 147 weight limit, whether its 146 or 140, u shouldn't force someone from that weight class to drop weight. Pacquiao weighed in at over 140 against De La Hoya, there was no need to make Cotto fight at a catchweight at all. Although Pacquiao vs Margarito made sense at a catchweight, the fight itself didn't "HAVE TO HAPPEN".
Forbes was at 150, Sturm and B-Hop(catchweight) were above 154.
My point is that De La Hoya at 154 and above most oh his last fight, except Forbes and Pacquiao.
I thought the point was who's the catch-weight king.
I mean if we going by who uses their power to negotiate what weight-class they fight in.
Then by all means hands down Oscar De la Hoya is the king. With SRL not far behind.
I'm thinking the TS wasn't talking about retired fighters. My guess is this was aimed at Manny. But i'm sure you know this.
I think we both know what the intent of this thread is. WHo uses their power to negotiate catchweights the most.

But, he still participated in a catch-weight fight that he won, no?
I mean demanding catch-weights does not make you the king, if you lose all of them.
You have to win to be the king of something.

Question: Didn't ODH demand the catcthweight for the BHOp fight? If so, can't blame Bernard for that.

Was Pavlik vs Hopkins at catchweight?
Was Tito vs Jones Jr at catchweight?
Tito vs Mayorga.
De La Hoya vs Pacquiao was at a catchweight because Pacquiao moved up and De La Hoya moved down so the could fight.
Jones vs Ruiz was not at catchweight because Ruiz did not moved down. Jones moved up.
Oscar fought about 9 times at 154.
Sturm, Hopkins, Forbes, Mayweather, Mayorga, Vargas, Campas, Castillejo, and Mosley.
Forbes was at 150, Sturm and B-Hop(catchweight) were above 154.
The lengths some guys will go to protect Pac is just disgusting.
Answer this, whose next fight is at a catchweight, Hops or Manny?
There's your answer.
So that eliminates their previous catch-weight fights?
I dont care Catchweight
I dont mine who is the king or who is doing catchweight, no problem at all. As long as both party's agree on a certain weight. We boxing fans are not ignorant on this catchweight it will happen at any time in a boxer life, especially when a basically small guy and a big guy what to fight. Of course the small wont fight for the bigger guy weight same on the big one wont fight for the smaller weight, So cathweight is important in those situation. Stop moaning about catchweight because I'll just rate you as ignorant in this boxing word.
hopkins? armstrong?

That's just stupid.
140,147,175 etc cannot be catch weight. It doesn't matter who the fighters are.
EDIT: AT 154 yes, not above. And not all of those fights you mention were at 154.
The only fight that was not at 154 was Forbes one. All the other ones were at 154 or above.
Mention any of those fight I mentions that were not at 154 or above other than the Forbes
When Henry Armstrong was fighting and there were few divisions, separated by 11-15 lbs catchweights were needed. Currently with so many dvisions separated by so few lbs they are not needed.
