The dude has some pretty outstanding skills. A Southpaw with quick reflexes, extremly fast hands and really plants his shot nice.
Last night he beat a good fighter in Brewer and made it look easy.
Brewer holds wins over CURRENT IBF 154lb Champ K9 Bunderage. Former Word Champion Steve Forbes. 15-0 Amatuer World Silver Medalist Anthony Thompson. And was coming off a KO win over 21-0 Fernando Guerrero.
Brewer is a very solid win and was quite a step up.
I feel Andrade can really make some big noise at 154lb and in world boxing.
I guess everyone watched Andrade for the first time last friday. Fact of the matter is this guy had been fighting cabdrivers for his first 13 fights, and all of a sudden they put him in there with a guy that upset/KO'ed THE blue chip American prospect of his division (or 160 wtv).
Not too much wrong with the performance other than that it was boring,or dominating, whichever way you wanna look at it. This is the first time I had ever seen Andrade willing to go the rounds against his opponent. He usually tries to go out there and stop him with a flashy combo.
Once he gets comfortable with this level of opposition, I'm sure he'll start to finish in style like he was before. Just remember, other than this fight, his pro resume was probably on the level of fellow 2008 Olympian Deontay Wilders.
Good boxer with both a limited market and fan interest. He's not going to be a cash cow star, that's for sure.
I mean the guy has something but he's not marketable at all. He's the exact prototype of the kind of fighters I dislike, coward, boring and he's both against mediocre opposition.
You put this guy inside a ring with a any good anywhere near their prime fighters and he jumps out of the ring literally. No heart, no desire, no killer instinct, no soul - he doesn't belong in boxing.
You have a delusional sig.... seek help
Andrade has potential. He's big, fast, slick, and has Olympic pedigree and is very defensive. He needs to improve if he wants to box his way to a tittle. He tends not to risk anything and lacks HOW MAY I SAY THIS...BALLS...but he makes that up with SMARTS...
My advice - keep that ZERO if not, no one will want to watch you.
I was impressed by Demetrius Andrade's fight on FNF but still see areas on concern. It was an impressive showing of pure boxing skills but I see holes that can be exploited by a brawler with a high work rate.
This guy reminds of a Paul Williams, with the long jab, using his length and distance as his defense at times. I'm concerned about how much he drops his hands while lunging. I understand he's young and still learning but if he gets matched against an opponent like an Omar Henry, that chin might get tested.
We'll all wait and see what he does, I really hope he's one of the elite in this weightclass.

Heres my dude at it again !!!!! You are right though!!
Your funny as hell by the way!!!
I know exactly what I am talking about sir
at the same time of you trying to defend him from those who think he sucks (of which I personally never said that) you should also temper those who think the guy is already a world beater I agree there's no guarantee on whether he'll be a world beater right this minute, let alone say he sucks or has no skills either. I wasn't talking about you, but you've been on here for awhile so therefor you know exactly what i'm talking about when it comes to NSB. People repeat things they hear, and act like they're knowledgeable. And i'm sorry but it frustrates me. Not saying i'm some genius, 'cause i'm not but i know enough. Some people like boxer/punchers or counter-punchers or pressure fighters etc etc I love all boxing, so when i see someone being ridiculously critical towards a boxer because they have a certain style they don't like it frustrates me, I appreciate all styles and respect anyone who steps in the ring. And I feel everyone should respect them if they're true boxing fans.
Like i said i'm not even a fan, my whole point really is not to judge a young prospect on one step up fight, especially his first step up. People on NSB just have a chronic case of diarrhea of the mouth and think they know what they're talking about.

his jab is flawed it's a nice tool but it's flawed.
he drops his hands tons when he does it. Get a guy willing to counter that and we will see what this kid is made of.
and for the person who mentioned this is boxing not fighting at some point.....you do have to fight regardless of how pretty you think your boxing is. At some point a fighter will have to...fight. THEN we see what this fighter is made of.
this isn't to say Andrade won't be anything special but the way we're blowing smoke up his ass is alarming. Short of Gambler who has a realistic optimistic view of his career most of you are thinking way too advance for him
I think he will be a hard guy to counter because he is tall and long for 154-160, I didn't realize how big he actually was before this Friday having watched him many times but he should be able to use that to control range and distance thus limiting counter opportunities. If he gets careless with his range though he could be made to pay the price, no way around that.
He still has that amateur mindset, he throws punches to score but not really with bad intentions, looking at his frame I know it is within his capabilities to throw punches that hurt people. Not that he will ever be a knock out artist, but he at least needs to keep guys honest, tough to really get a guys respect if he does not throw real meaningful blows.
That is not to say he should stop with the scoring blows, he just needs to be like a pitcher constantly changing speed/power to keep the other guy guessing. If he can perfect that he can be very dangerous.
I reckon that is a two year project if there are no setbacks but if they rush him he may never get there.

Jabbing and hardly throwing any other punches is not showing skill or talent. I'm sorry, but it's just not. Even if there are some fighters who get hit more than he does and take more chances, it still doesn't mean he is more skilled than say a guy like Brandon Rios for example.
the biggest misconception in this sport is to equate physical talent with being skilled. They are nothing alike
I disagree I think he shines in that situation, I don't think he will be easy to pressure like that with the jab he has. Who knows though how he will deal with adversity when it strikes that is a huge unknown.
He is still at least two years from a guy like Angulo though, if they put him in sooner than that would be a huge risk.

"He sucks?...so you're saying he's a bum?...if that was indeed the case he would of gotten stopped last night. You're judging a young prospect who isn't even close to developing fully. You just don't like skilled counter puncher/boxers. Look, I love toe to toe wars just as much as the next guy, but I also like true boxer/counter-punchers...just because they don't go toe to toe doesn't mean "they suck"...there's so many different styles in boxing...all of them have heart and balls to get in the squared circle, when it comes down to it, it's about winning and making money for themselves.

dear God NSB has the fastest bandwagon jumpers I have ever seen
all of sudden this kid competes with the likes of Angulo?
some of you have lost your minds
not seeing it to be honest kid has major flaws to along with that talent some of you are so high on. Get a fighter who will pressure him smartly and those will get exposed.

I thought being young with a quality jab was a good foundation for the future.
Who knew guys that build their offense around a jab are actually shitty fighters with no talent, heart, grit or determination. The skill fairy must have showed up and waved her wand over his head to give him what he has because he obviously didn't put any work to get what he has~
I guess you learn something new everyday~
He's a kid. he'll soon figure out of he wants the big bucks, he'll have to show the people why they should pay to watch him fight. he's got a ****load of talent though.
