if only you'd think before you start a thread you would have made a good discussion. i don't even think you're looking for a good discussion...you just want to boast how good floyd is and how big a floyd fan you are. and based on what? your personal opionion. and there are different types of opionion. there are opinions that are based on actual events which is very logical. yours is not even like that...it's totally based on fantasy which is not a good source of discussion because everybody will just draw conclusion from nothing.
Actually I started the thread because I thought it would be a good discussion. It was a small discussion in a thread that was turning into nuthugging/pactard/flomo crap. Ive only started maybe 23 threads so its not like I do it often. Only you felt it was about being a floyd fan. Perhaps maybe you were wrong.
My opinion is that no fighter currently is good enough that they would be favored against Victor Ortiz if they were coming off a 16 month layoff. The post speaks to two things:
1. How good floyd is compared to the rest of the field if you are someone who thinks floyd is overrated.
2. How good Ortiz is compared to the field if you are someone who thinks he is simply a hand picked bum.
I hoped to take it out of the crap zone but of course you had to go there before posting a truly good response.
If only this was your initial response. Manny looks to keep in good shape but I don't know how good. This makes sense.

fighters react differently on layoff. what they do during the layoff is also a big factor. if you maintain a good shape during the layoff then of course you can come back from it with much less negative effect. if you were out of shape even for just a 1 year layoff you'll fukk up your comeback fight even if you fight a bum.

It's not almost either. It's not even a year and a half layoff. And that's not directed at you personally, it's directed at all the people I have seen saying this over and over.
People on this site are terrible at telling the passage of time. Saying stuff like Pacquiao has been a welterweight for 3 years and Mayweather's been gone for two and stuff like that.
Its cool. I should of created a more accurate thread, especially since I am a floyd fan.
My mistake in post it should of said almost.

Mayweather is NOT COMING OFF ANYTHING CLOSE TO A 2 YEAR LAYOFF.
Where are people getting that from? It won't even be a year and a half since he fought Mosley when he fights Ortiz. Where the hell is this 2 year layoff bullsh** coming from?

gimme a fukking break. it's all opinion on something that has not happened...nothing is legitimate with that. and you're drawing conclusion based on your own opionion which was never and never will be proven. that's pure nuthugging no matter how you spin it.
Ok. I wasn't sure what nuthugging meant. Thanks again!
I think you clearly misinterpreted the thread. The point isn't defining floyds actions as extraordinary, its if any top 10 rakned ww coming off a 16 month layoff signed to fight Vic today for 9/17/11, would they be favored. I think they wouldn't and because they wouldn't that is a good measure of how respected a fighter floyd is.
I gave my reasons, I think legitimate, as to why I thought Manny wouldn't be favored. Of course no one else went to the nuthuggin crap so thanks as usual for your adult response.

i brought up shane because he also came from the same layoff but would still be favored to win. i brought it up so you would realize that floyd's situation right now is not something extraordinary so you need to tone down on your nuthugging.
and if you think pac would not be favored that's fine, i don't really care as i'm not really expecting you to say otherwise.

I didn't ask about Shane who fought floyd but your response suggests that right now the answer is no. I disagree on Manny based on my earlier posts.

the shane who fought floyd coming from a layoff would have been favored to beat ortiz...you know the shane who had just ko'ed margarito.
of course pac would be favored too. the rest can not even beat ortiz even if they're active.

Ok its not almost are you happy? If any ww boxer listed in the thread came back after a 16 month layoff, would they be favored against Vic on Sept. 17th?

BTW, I'll end this convo with you on this note:
Floyd's performance against JMM>>>>>>>>>SRL's performance against Howard, Camacho, and Norris put together.
That's fine...But, not over Hagler. So good way to end this convo.
I said look at their competition and "performance". It wasn't a "walk in the park" for SRL against Hagler. I'll spoon feed you. This means, take take into consideration the person they're fighting and look at their performance against that person. Maybe I should've spelled it out in a more long drawn out post. I apologize for making the assumption that all are adults with proper reading comprehension.
Anyway, we all know how I feel about you and how you constantly "try" to argue with people about the smallest things. I try to give you the benifit of the doubt on some days, but thanks for reminding me why I have you on ignore. How you're able to respond to my posts, I have no idea lol
Well then SRL PERFORMANCE coming off a 3 year layoff against Hagler>>>>>Floyd performance against JMM
Happy now?
1 year 4 months to be exact...that's not almost 2 years bittch. shane had the same layoff and and his opponent was not just a ortiz level fighter. he fought floyd ffs.

I would think manny wouldn't be favored given the affect the layoff ( IMO) has on his volume punching, timing, and defense.
Brick Wall its almost two years I posted I should have changed that. I dont think Mosley was favored against floyd. The point is inactivity of other fighters would affect who would be favored.

only Pac
Pac and Floyd are on par, everyone else a class or 2 below

Because it wasn't the point of the argument.
The "argument" was how having a long layoff can effect any fighter and has effected other great fighters.
Not who's had the best opposition while coming back from a long layoff.
Then why would you say "look at their competition..."
