Which fightersdo you know are converted, meaning they had their dominant hand out front.
I post thisbecause I always had a suspicion that tyson was really left handed even though he had power in his right based on his movements, punch selection as well as his back muscles. I confirmed this when during the fight with steve zouski the commentator mentioned that tyson was converted to orthodox when he was actually left handed.
So here's my list, if you guys have any others feel free to add.
Victor Ortiz (right handed)
Orlando Canizales (left handed)
Jorge Arce (left handed)
Guillermo rigondeaux (right handed)
Manny Pacquiao (ambidexterous, but predominantly left handed)
Marvin Hagler (right handed)
Vasyl Lomachenko (right handed)
Oscar de la hoya (left handed)
Andre Ward (ambidexterous, predominantly left handed)
Hector Camacho (right handed)
Nonito Donaire (left handed)
Joe frazier (left handed)
Gary allen russell (right handed)
Raushee Warren (right handed)
Miguel Cotto (left handed)
Winky Wright (right handed)
Joshua Clottey (left handed)
Fighters who I believe were actually converted:
Jose Napoles
Ike quartey
On a side note, funny how so many people preach that to convert is a sin, and that those who convert never become any good, my list so far disproves that.

I wasn't arguing with you, I was just posting the video which lends support to what you were saying. I just watched the vid in another thread, and thought it was relavent. HAHA dude Im on a paranoid ranting mood. Either way lets get back to the discussion. I honestly believe its very bad to convert. there are special kind of fighters that can pull it off with training from an early age. I think some converted fighters develop excellent combination punching to compensate for the lack of power from their weak hand (Marvin Hagler, ODLH). I wouldn't recommend it. You never really develop your rear hand if you don't really commit to it. (btw how do you embed youtube videos?)

Yeah I know he's a righty. I said it. I'm just saying that the dude is a lefty wannabe. He says in different interviews that he's a lefty, which is bullish, and in others that he's a righty. The guy doesn't have a strong left cross. he almost uses his right "jab" as a cross and bombs away with the right hook. He never uses his left hand other then in combinations. Ortiz balance is hugely effected by standing in a southpaw stance and thats one of the main reason he gets dropped in so many fights. One other side effect of being "converted" is that you have a dominant eye. Having a right dominated eye as a southpaw makes you more vulnerable to the right hand.

This is actually a really interesting thread.
Doesn't Bobby Pacquiao also fight southpaw? I've always thought Bobby and Manny were both converted, which would indeed make a lot more sense than both of them being natural lefties (but I don't know).
Also, lefties are typically forcefully converted in Asia, as I understand it (although I don't know 100% where it comes to the Philippines). In the case of China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, etc. (countries which use Chinese characters) it actually makes a lot of practical sense, because the techniques for writing the characters are contrived from a write-handed perspective. I have a friend who is Japanese (I'm not Japanese, but live in Japan) who is left handed, but writes with either hand. However, to write the characters correctly, it is essentially necessary to write with you right hand (although he does it with either).
i dont know what to believe, he signs with his right but says himself that he is actually left handed, maybe he was converted to write with his right hand? who knows, thats a giant mess He's one of those traitors. A right handed man that wants to be a lefty. Have met many people like that, that pretends to be lefty in any way. I have heard bullish like "I'm righthanded but left footed" BUUUUISSSHHH. Thats next to impossible due to how the nerves system is wired. You can be ambidextrous but that doesn't work. What ever I have heard so many lefty wannabees in my mma gym. Almost everybody goes southpaw and fight one handed, right hook right hook right hook. I ra'pe their soul standing when they try that stupid ish. Victor Ortiz said the same thing in a interview. "I'm a lefty" but he said in another that he was right handed. Traitor ! XD
The guy grew up in America. They don't convert lefties but they do in a lot of Asian countries. ( BTW where is that gif from :P :P)
I've actually heard that Nonito went to the same school as Manny when he was young.. b4 growing up in the US.
(the gif is of beautiful agony)
Guess like some of the people had said, naturally he is a lefthander but like Manny he was brought up from young to write with the right hand. The guy grew up in America. They don't convert lefties but they do in a lot of Asian countries. ( BTW where is that gif from :P :P)
In the video it justsaid, that nonito said he is actuallyleft handed and writes with his left and is a converted fighter. Marvin Hagler used to lie his a'ss of about being a lefty when he absolutely wasn't. I mean the guys left cross was so fing weak it was a joke. The guy had much more power in his jab then cross and his right hook was his main power punch. He wrote with his right hand, ate with his right hand(in a commercial) Yet he always said he was a lefty. Sorry to say there are some traitors out there that want to be left handed. Also Donaire probably didn't say that but if he did, it would probably be mind games to make his opponent not fair his right hand. Which btw is pretty good

Yeah.. but you shud know that Nonito always fight in the conventional style but in this fight he fought for the first couple of rounds as a southpaw but he didn't do so well so revert back to his normal conventional style.
Just pointing out that the commentators said Nonito is actually a lefthander.
Listen to the first min plus...
He is left hander but fight in a conventional style and in this fight he tried to fight in a southpaw style but sucked.
