Jones tried to get Lennox Lewis. What are you talking about? Lewis said that he had everything to lose and nothing to gain in a match like that and it didn't make good business sense.
Lewis said it. Steward said it as well on HBO. How you came up with what you wrote is beyond me.
:lol1: :haha: You're joking right? Jones not ONCE tried to get Lewis. Not once! Every time someone mentioned Lewis's name he never even gave a straight forward answer. He always said something like "Oh I don't wanna talk about that right now" or "Oh right now I don't talk because it costs too much money to talk I'm the heavyweight champ" and this was all AFTER he beat Ruiz. Roy wanted no piece of Lewis at all.
He Would have won a ud on that tyson trust me roy when he didnt loose 25pounds of muscle to go back to lhw was unbeatable and he had lots of self belief and he must hav felt untouchable the only thing tyson lands is a few jabs and right hands on jones gloves.
Roy got Clubber Langed into a Tarver fight after he beat Ruiz; look at what James Toney did to Holyfield I'm sure Roy probaly could have did the same thing. He only has to survive for 3 rds vs Mike and he beats him those were the money fights for his legacy. He had no intention of fighting Lennox or the Klits he didn't need to. But he is ego mad him fight Tarver and loss out on maybe 75 mill and probaly the GOAT title.
I remember when RJJ was going up to HW and there was all the talk of him fighting Lewis and Tyson. I was a massive fan of all 3 men,but if RJJ had stepped into the ring with either Lewis or Tyson he would have been knocked out quite easily once they had got hold of him.
RJJ looked almost unbeatable back in those days and Tyson was pretty much a spent force by then, but he was still far too big and powerful for Roy, and his punches would have left him broken before Tarver got hold of him and derailed the ride.
I wish RJJ would just give it up :(
Nah...He really wanted Tyson. He also wanted Holyfield. When he couldn't get them he went back down to LHW and fought Tarver.
No Just No. Jones Priced himself out asking for $100 million dollar purse to fight Tyson. Look it up. Asking for that amount to fight a damaged goods Tyson is basically saying no I don't want to fight him.
Just watch Tyson - Danny Williams and Roy - Ruiz.
If Jones lasted beyond 2 rounds he could maybe win. But Tyson was too strong and aggressive. Ruiz only pressured Jones for the first 30 seconds then was drawn into a boxing match in the middle of the ring.
The way Jones backs up onto the ropes with his gloves up would of been suicide against Tyson.
There's a reason why he chose to fight one of the worst HW of the 00's.
In '03 it's a toss up, if a shot ass beaten up version of Mike doesn't land on Roy's glass in round or two, Roy could just end up potshoting his way to boring a decision.
Ruiz was one of the most consistently best heavyweights of the 2000s. Which should tell you something about how bad the heavyweight division is.
I don't think he would have, because if Roy got caught just one time Tyson would probably finish him off, but I certainly think he could have.
Better than B-Hop?
all day!!!...prime Roy beats EVERY version of B.Hop imo....Roy wins that chess match in his prime EVERYTIME imo.....B.Hop is my main dude but it is what it is
I'm a big fan of Roy Jones, but he seriously would not have risked being in there with any of the big punching heavyweights. Even a 3 round Tyson would have been too risky for him. He would have went to sleep.
Even though he dominated Ruiz, he did get rocked in one of the middle rounds...can't remember which one but I remember seeing it and the announcers didn't notice or mention it at all. It was a short hook right on the chin, he stumbled forward and grabbed Ruiz. He would have been in big trouble with a real dynamic puncher.
Jones beats any Heavyweight from the 90's on up if the old mininum weight limit of 176 for Heavys was still in place.
He would come in at around a Marciano/Dempsey weight and straight up wreck $hit. He would've owned the division for years.
lmfao..so he beats lennox lewis,foreman,holyfield,bowe,briggs,rahman????
man look...Roy is the BEST ever in my eyes....yea, the BEST I've layed my eyes on...meaining the BEST I've seen in MY lifetime....with that said, Mike imo would've touched his chin and Roy would've fell down and went to sleep...thats all to it!! :boxing:
Better than B-Hop?
Umm no homie. Jones did not want any part of Tyson at the time. That's why when there was talks about the fight jones said he wanted a 100 million dollars for the fight
Nah...He really wanted Tyson. He also wanted Holyfield. When he couldn't get them he went back down to LHW and fought Tarver.
man look...Roy is the BEST ever in my eyes....yea, the BEST I've layed my eyes on...meaining the BEST I've seen in MY lifetime....with that said, Mike imo would've touched his chin and Roy would've fell down and went to sleep...thats all to it!! :boxing:
Mike Tyson at this time defined the term 'shot'..he was no more than an inpatient, undisciplined 3 round fighter at best. Roy's prime hadn't dropped off the face of the earth at this point in time and think he had enough footwork and speed to steer clear away from anything Tyson threw at him.
Roy would do everything possible to not feel the breeze of Tyson's shots and have on his best dancing shoes for the 1st couple of rounds. After 3 rounds when Tyson would be huffing and puffing, plodding around the ring is when Jones would start opening up a little more to frustrate Mike with his speed, skills and reflexes to a wide UD unless Tyson stayed in his corner before the final bell.
Roy looked good at his one fight at heavyweight!
Even that version of Tyson puts Roy to sleep in 5 rounds... Just too much power and aggression. And like everyone else said, if I was Roy at that time, I'd have avoided him too. Just too much of a physical advantage along with a very good technique.
Roy should have fought Tyson instead of losing 25lbs to fight Tarver; it was the biggest mistake of his career. That fight would have done over a million buys on PPV and if survives the first couple of rds its a fight he probally wins.
Roid Jones Jr. Funny how even when it's known a fighter coasted off PED use, nobody cares. Just as long as its a well liked black American, who cares right?
