I think they reduced it after the $25 ticks weren't selling so well.
I've always believed that the theatre distribution deal was more of a strategic marketing play that a direct revenue play.
Putting this in theatres then allows them to advertise during previews for other movies.
If you add up the total money from the theatres, it's not really that much.
Say that you get ~200 people at EACH of the 380 theatres. At $25/head.
That's only $2 Mn total revenue, and then you have to split that with the theatres and distributor.
But it gives the fight more exposure, and makes it feel like a bigger deal, which in turn drives a higher PPV buyrate.
I thought Buffalo Wild Wings have all the PPV fights (I could be mistaken), but I would rather sit at a table drinking with people there. A theater seems to have certain etiquette that you don't require when you are in a bar/restaurant. I'm not sure I would want to be confined in a movie seat as opposed to sitting casually in a bar/restaurant.
The appeal is the huge screen and advanced sound system.
Bring me back some Asian Zing, though.
It's only 17 in my area, seems like a good price to see it in theaters so I might just go.
How many of you are going? The breakeven is about 3 people.
...and if you stay home, you can drink more cheaply, and not worry about driving.
That's the same as watching a fight on a big theater screen? What's closed circuit mean, Gino?
Closed circuit basically means any non-cable, non-live venue. It's a direct feed, Movie theatre would be considered a CC option. Sports bars would be considered a CC venue.
Actually, back in the pre-cable days, that's how the big fights were seen. Or radio.
We went to Vegas for Trinidad-Vargas. Some of us didn't have tickets, so we watched the closed circuit "broadcast" at Studio 54 in MGM for $50. I was a good look.
DOn't think so.
Yeah. He can. There are plenty of Closed circuit outlets in canada

Anyone think this will be in Canada too?
You can watch on CanadaStar: http://www.canadastarboxing.com/
...and as Drake says, Thank Me Later.
See what I did there?
Imma watch this in theaters too. Only 18 bux a piece around my house, less than last time which was 25.
I entered my zip code and got $20. That is a good deal for the experience.
...but I'll be in Vegas.
