He has made significant improvements under roach...before I go into that a few things to consider. -yes he still makes some amateur mistakes, sometimes repeatedly but you have to take into consideration that he is moving up in level quite consistently and he was exposed for technical mistakes more often earlier in his career at a lower level, so in my eyes he is eradicating these mistakes. -we get to see him for 6-12 rounds at a time, Freddie gets to see him 100's of rounds at a time, sometimes you don't always show your best stuff in the fight especially with young fighters, I remember thinking manny was not getting any better for a long time and a lot of others felt the same way, but he was slowly adding to his arsenal, and over time it started to click and as he matured he started replicating what he would do in training/sparring. I see the same thing happening with khan. Now to his improvements...his defense has improved a lot, the first thing is that he actually thinks about what punches might come back his way rather than thinking only about offense, he is an attacking fighter by nature, thus never going to be floyd, but it has certainly improved...you only have to look at where he would hold his hands pre-roach and where he holds his hands now, much higher. He also is way more patient and is much more effective with his jab, he is a smarter fighter, and with roach's game plans, he is prepared for his opponent. Technical mistakes take years to refine, I already see big improvements, but I'm sure he will get even better in all aspects of his game, he still reaches with too many punches, thus why he is open to that check hook, paulie hit him with it consistently, but these fights are learning curves. Pacquiao use to also lunge in wildly, and khan will correct this over time. Totally disagree about his footwork, he has very fast feet, his overall speed is a gift and the footwork can be a little clumsy but that would be nit-picking. I am sorry but if you win an Olympic silver medal there is now way you do that with poor or slow footwork, some of you guys are morons. His speed at the moment probably gets him out of trouble more than him or roach would like but he is aware of the fact that he needs to improve as he stated after re-watching his Judah performance. His appetite to learn and listen, his work ethic...they are probably his best qualities of all as roach has stated many times.

Amir khans style has not changed. Many are fooled by good match making. Khan still jumps in with an upright position, and he pulls out with his chin in the air.He runs in throwing combos because he dont know how to throw combos at a distance. He makes the same mistakes over and over and he has not corrected them. Freddie roach only teaches fighters to throw in combinations. Each and every fighter he has , have no defence. They believe offence is all you need. just look at khan as an amerture and compare him to now. He is the same way, no improvements. I think the argument can be made he hasn't improved on his natural skills but there's no doubt in my mind Roach has made him a smarter fighter and given him the mentality and game plan to win fights. He is very patient now, doesn't just look for the KO and uses his jab amazingly well. His conditioning has gotten much better as well, say what you want about Ariza but whatever he's doing is working. Match making is what thier doing, thier finding big names that are on thier way out of the game. Something all should do if they want big money and fame. Anyone who understands boxing can see the same fighter in Khan as of old.
