This is no doubt his toughest fight to date. But I just feel he's going to look good in defeating Joseph Agbeko. He's been training hard and mentally he's 100% ready to fight. I can't wait for next week. It won't be easy.... but Abner is coming with everything.
Wish us luck! If Abner wins this will be our 7th World Champ!

Nice write up.
That's all good for motivation but I wonder if Agbeko's back injury will come into play before he can execute?
Thanks, can't wait to find out, should be a nice fight. Both are classy guys. :boxing:
Can't talk about strategy. But Abner wants to make a statement. He's ready bro
that's what he said on The Boxing Lab as well
he said it's nice to win but better to make a statement
this really could be his emergence onto the next level of stardom bro
can't wait to see this fight
I think Mares will win but I also kinda thought Jeff Fenech would beat Azumah Nelson in the rematch. That comparison is not lost on Joseph Agbeko, who has said he thinks this fight will be like the second Nelson-Fenech fight, that to me means that for Agbeko... it's more about DESTROYING Mares, than simply beating him.
Will Agbeko be the MAN to Mares's BOY? We'll see I guess. :boxing:

When the SHO Bantamweight tourney is over, there needs to be a another (REAL) Bantamweight tourney to determine the real champ and the best at that weight. No matter who wins Mares or Agbeko, there is still the issue of Nonito Donaire and Anselmo Moreno, and the fact that at 118 lbs, the Ring Magazine Championship is VACANT.
i hope mares finds a nice level of balance beetwen offense and defense
if agbeko starts landing too much it could slow him down and that would be fatal
i know mares will take the belt, he has champion written all over him
good luck

I hope he does win he has to go in there with quick 3 or 4 punch combos and get ghost what I mean by Ghost is not be there to get hit. And if he can't hurt him in the head than go to the body which he does really well and he has to use that defense with Agbeko this guy just keeps on coming Mares has to fight smart and has to keep this guy guessing all nite And he will be a champion on the 13 of august.
