These guys have fought the best fighters out there it seems like it will always be Trinidad number one and Cotto number two in the history of Puerto Rico's boxing. Because Trinidad carried boxing for a while when he was hot when he had the world screaming Tito Tito every time he fought .Cotto has made his own name fighting the best guys out and never ducked anybody it would have been a real classic if these guys would have fought each other. I see it going for Tito but then again it could go in Cotto hands because Cotto could win a close narrow decision out boxing Tito like Cotto did to Mosley so I guess we will never know will we .Let's see what you freaks think about this.
This is one of those matchups that go up ad nauseum
I can't pick it, I think its a pick em' fight.
They both in my opinion are about equals when it comes to intangibles. They both have lots of heart, good chins and are great finishers.
Tito has the edge in overall power and Cotto has the edge in boxing ability. I think Cotto has a superior jab and I think they are both nearly equals with their body work. They both have a nasty array of body work technique. I think Cotto's defense is better and I think they are both about equals with their handspeed, maybe Tito is a hair quicker. Tito I think had good-to-great stamina, Cotto has average to decent stamina.
When looking at the fight, I think we have to take into account Tito's shaky chin in the early rounds, where he had a tendency to take a flash knockdown by lesser punchers as he's warming up. I think there's a real chance for Cotto dominate and hurt Tito in the early goings.
Tito isn't going to KO Cotto early, because like Tito, Cotto has been rocked early before but had good recovery skills and came on strong to win, but he has a chance. If I was a betting man, I'd bet for a 12 round TKO in Tito's favor, but I wouldn't rule out a SD/MD in Cotto's favor either.
I don't know, I can't say for certainty and can't vote in good will.
Surely you can't be serious. Tito was a MUTHAFUKIN MONSTER
TURN UP YOUR VOLUME AND LISTEN TO THOSE SHOTS.Cotto would have been crying for real, no welterweight in the last 20 years hit as hard as Tito.

Tito gets bothered by the jab and Cotto has one of the best Jabs at ww. Oscar beat Cheato. I like how some people try to act like Tito was this monster with a granite chin, when he was far from it. Wow, look at Titos power. I guess people forget that his boxing skills were atrocious.
People who believe the above statement does not know anything about Tito Trinadad style. He knows how to take that jab away from his opponants. Why do you think Oscar Delahoya started to run and not throw that jab. The same reason Delahoya stop throwing the jab in the Mayweather fight. He was being countered by the right hand and left hooks. Thats how you take away a jab. Make your opponant scared to throw it, in fear of being caught clean by a power shot. Tito was a late starter, but once he got his timing down, your ass was grass. Cotto did not have any heart, Tito was all heart, and balls in his prime, I've seen him hurt badly, knocked down really really hurt. Only to get up and beat the **** out of his opponant. Cotto will never have that quality. Tito wins by a brutal Knock out in the fifth round.

tito was a faster handed margarito wit better head movmoment an slitely better foot speed.
dont forget he actually had defense and was a very accurate combination puncher instead of a volume puncher like tony
Cotto'sa brawler? Whoa when did this happen? Maidana is a brawler, Cotto isn't. I think Cotto would win decision or KO Trinidad in 12.
cotto was widely considered to be a brawler up until he fought mosley when he put on a beautiful display of boxing...many people dont pay as much mind on his run at 140 in which he often outboxed pure boxers like malignaggi, ndou and corley
if i was going to bet... i'd bet Tito by KO... cotto's been rocked by small guys like zab... but it's possible for cotto to out box him... Tito had **** defense.
tito coud be outboxed, but everybody who boxed him(outside of roy late in his career) had a very good chin
hopkins
wright
de la hoya
whitaker to the degree to which he was able
cotto would probably try and outbox him and might get some good work with the jab and those short little combinations he threw in his prime
but i think he gets hit with the hook in round 4 or 5 at the latest and goes down and gets stopped
or the right hand
cotto wasn't hard to hit
and tito was an absolute monster at WW in terms of power punching
he's only a step below only the greatest of the great punchers at the weight, hearns and robinson
tito KO 5
cotto on the ground unable to get up. old fashioned KO
Because Cotto is a brawler boxer and Tito had serious power I picked Tito by KO. But once again it's not that easy to simply pull out the crystal ball and predict the future. Tito had a lot of problems with Oscar and I thought maily it was cause Oscar stuck that jab in his face. If Cotto had the same success with his jab I could see him winning a decision and maybe even grinding Tito down at the end but if I had to put money on it I would pick Tito.

trinidad didnt have faster hands and cotto has a pretty sharp underrated jab which kept mosley honest throughout their fight
tito was an awesome body puncher though and he was definitely more powerful
people forget tito has been put on his ass by opponents with less power than cotto, not to mention cotto is a great finisher...people should take that into the equation
those kind of intangibles make a fight like this difficult to be absolute on. Intangibles like quality of competition. Honestly look at Tito's opponents before Oscar and it doesn't exactly read like a who's who of boxing. Some good/ok opponents but not many top shelf guys. Of course it was the way he handled the guys though, most were dealt a healthy dose of destruction.

Agreed!!
I mean, tito had more power, faster hands, a nasty jab, good body punching to match Cottos.
Tito simply kills him!!!
Can you imagine what to would had to a guy like Margarito??? :trink26::boxing:

Cotto wins the 1st 3 rounds, probably even stuns Tito a bit.But after round 4 when Tito starts to pick up steam,Cotto gets plowed through by round 6.

its actually much harder to predict than many people might think
trinidad had the patience and devastating power to knock cotto out
the cotto that fought mosley had the skills to outbox trinidad
trinidad edges it for me but cotto would by no means be an easy fight for him
