Prescott can certinaly punch but he isn't an all out consistent pressure fighter like the likes of Katsidis, Murray or Rios.
Can you imagine if it was Rios against Mitchell in the early rounds where Mitchell was quite literally forced to stand his ground? It wouldn't have gone long..
Mitchell's a good fighter but he doesn't have what it takes to keep a high otput pressure fighter off him consistently, he has to stand his ground at times.
And when that happens against Rios, it's curtains.
On what basis?
His fight with Murray?
:lol1:
Its only matter of time until Rios can't make the weight.
He's huge.
His chin could be affected.
When Kevin Mitchell is on his game like in the Prescott fight, he's tough to beat.
Rios could underestimate Kev like the majority of the posters on this site.
He's a live dog.
I think Kevin is a dead dog if he fights Rios lol
I know what you mean though and I was thinking about this fight last night and Kev could stop Rios just because of Rios' face first style, but Rios so far has just walked through everything thrown at him, the only time he slowed was Peterson nailing him with low blows.....I still can't quite believe Frank Warren would match him this hard after losing Murray to him.
2:45 of the 3rd round and most of the 4th round Rios is backing up.
I think Kevin is a dead dog if he fights Rios lol

Acosta hurt him bad in the third round.
Had Rios backing up before the round ended.
He can be hurt.
I think Kevin is a live dog if happens.

im not on this rios bandwagon, the guys good but he's not what every1 makes him out to be saying that though me might beat mitchell he might not id watch this fight though
Props to Mitchell if he takes this fight. Rios can be out boxed but it requires a game plan to be perfectly executed and unrivalled stamina. I don't think Mitchell has the discipline to box and move for 12 rounds.
possibly the worst possible fight that could be made for Mitchell.
What has happened to Frank Warren? He is really throwing his fighters to the wolves.
Lmaooooooooooooooo, i think warren has just giving up really, He cant be bothered building anyone up anymore..
Oh lord, Mitchell would be destroyed quicker than Katsidis done him...This is a horrible style match up for mitchell but i hope he takes it and prove me wrong..
Warren is desperate. DeGale lost to Groves. Kell Brook left him. He has no world champions on his books. Since Khan left him the UK boxing scene has moved away from him. He needs something to happen and happen fast so he will gamble.
He has Cleverly and Burns.
Neither are particularly 'strong' world champions, yet. But no doubt Warren will rack up the defenses for those two.
Kevin doesnt have the ring discipline to box his way through this fight if he did he would have a decent chance, he should not get into a brawl but he is stupid and will try to brawl and lose
He showed plenty of discipline against Prescott

You have to respect Kev for taking tough fight after tough fight.
I don't like his chances against Brandon Rios, though.

Am I the only one who likes this fight?
I think for the first four or five rounds we'll get something a bit special. It'll be an action fight with difficult rounds to score. After that point you'd have to expect Rios to take over and stop Mitchell, but I think it'll be a fun fight until that point. Despite the Katsidis fight, I don't expect Mitchell to get blown away as it's clear he wasn't anywhere close to his best.
It's not clever match-making on Warren's part, but it should be a fan friendly fight. It's not like Rios has that many better options either - Marquez is tied up with Pacquiao, Guerrero has jumped to 140 for Maidana and Soto wants nothing to do with Rios. Aside from stepping up to 140, Rios doesn't have many options besides maybe Katsidis.
this is a waste of time for rios imo. mitchell isn't even good, and katsidis stopped him. shouldn't rios face him instead? idk, with guerrero and jmm out of the division, i really think rios should try and get into the mix at 140. lots of good opponents for him over there.
135 is better than 140. Hopefully he fights Vazquez at 135 or 140 I don't care.
Mitchell is a small lightweight.... Rios is a huge lightweight. It wont be close.
If size only mattered Prescott would be undefeated right now.
But I do favor Rios. Size is only a small reason why. His style and workrate is more of a reason.
