Let's face it, Ortiz is not a great fighter. In 140 was not among the top 5.
Some want to be a boxer entertaining to watch, but he has not the technique and speed to beat Floyd, or any class rival.
In my opinion is the easier fight of the last time for Mayweather, easier than Gatti and Baldomir. I say Ortis pass before the ring arrives shame, because the result can all talk and express its opinion
Call me crazy but I might think Ortiz can pull this off. Plus either way it could be a good fight for Pacquiao whomever wins. Roach already stated that when Ortiz sparred Pacquiao it got too hectic and he had to stop it because of them both being southpaw bangers. Don't get me wrong I still want to see Floyd vs Pac but if Floyd's game plan is to stand in front of Ortiz then he "might" lose.
He has the KO power and Mayweather does not move around the ring as he used to. So he has decent chance.
Mosley have more power, more speed and have more skills. yes he isnt southpaw
my amazes me how in boxing, the press turns a mediocrity in a phenomenon
How would any other fighter fare after being inactive for almost 2 years against an active young title holder coming off a spectacular win?
Really? You're going to claim Floyd's been inactive for almost two years?
People on this site have no sense of time. When Floyd fights Ortiz, it will be a year and three months since the Mosley fight. Not even close to 2 years.
As a Floyd Mayweather fan, or a "Flomo", I belive is the accepted term these days, I am astonished that Floyd is fighting Ortiz. Ortiz is a young, big, fast, power-punching southpaw that IMO, has all kinds of tools that could give Floyd Mayweather problems.
Let me clarify my position a little bit, it is possible, believe it or not, to be a fan of BOTH Mayweather and Pacquiao! I know many people choose sides and look for every opportunity to talk smack both ways, but not me.
Fellow boxing fans, Pinoys, Pacquiao fans, Mayweather critics.....
If Marquez was too small, and Mosley was too old, what is Victor Ortiz? A VERY dangerous fight for Floyd Mayweather.
All the mexicans that buy the ppv think he stands some what of a chance.
even though Ortiz is going to lose and making a fool of. that money for fans of Ortiz will not be wasted, as they will see a boxing seminar
Ortiz is huge and was draining himself to make 140. He's also a big powerful Southpaw. Floyd is going on 35 & very inactive. Its a very dangerous fight. Berto would beat nearly anyone in the top 5 at 140. You underrated Ortiz. Even Roach said he would give Pac hell in sparring when he was 147 but everytime he went down then he was not the same guy
I dont think that Ortis was draining at 140. I dont think Berto can beat top 5 140. And you think than Jose Benavidez can beat Pacman in a fight?? in the sparrin he beat Pacman, sparring is not panameter of nathing
It wasn't a spectacular win, not if you were knocked down TWICE! Plus Ortiz has a lot of technical flaws. He's proven that he can be both outboxed and outbrawled! )lol if that's even a word)
It was his best and most exciting win. Ortiz may not be on Floyd's level, but the
odds even out with Floyd's inactivity.
You didn't answer my question.

No. Unless Floyd is just taking a paycheck and doesn't care about fighting anymore - then it could be a close fight as long as Ortiz doesn't get swallowed up by the moment.
