While I would favor Vit against anyone prime for prime, I think even the haters can agree theres never been a 40+ heavyweight nearly as good as Vitali. Guys like Tyson and Ali built their legacies on beliefs that layoffs ruin you, Vitali came back, won a belt, has defended it mercilessly, not lost a round...hes not like fat old fat disgusting semi-retard George Foreman who threw a bolo punch at a belt holder he had no business being in the ring with since he had just lost to TOmmy Morrison, and then robbed Axel Shultz and lost to Briggs etc...Vitali is a monster just killing people out there, so can the haters at least all agree that theres never been someone this age at HW this good.
"Both his losses were due to injury in fights he was winning"
If your opponent manages to injure you enough that you can't continue, that pretty much means they won the fight...

WELL SAID.......
Excellent post!
Schulz was an underrated win for Wlad.
Schulz should've been a world champ. He clearly beat Foreman and Moorer and got robbed twice.
Wlad easily destroyed Schulz. He became the first man to knockdown and KO Schulz.
And Foreman clearly beat Briggs at almost 49 and should have won the lineal title. So what does your post have to do with who the better 40+ heavyweight is?
And if youre going to say Foreman beat Briggs, at least acknowledge he got worked and pussed out against hand picked Schulz.
Yep, but that isn't the point, is it? You're claiming Vitaly as the greatest 40+ heavyweight in history and it just isn't true. At 39 Vitaly couldn't put away past prime Briggs who was 35lbs over his best fighting weight. At just shy of 49 Foreman was robbed against a prime Briggs. Vitaly is a tough guy and maybe one day he will surpass Foreman and Holmes as the best 40+ heavyweight. But as of now he isn't even close to them.
Foreman lost to Tommy Gunn and Axel Schulz...he hit a guy with a bolo punch...in a fight he was getting crushed in. So Prescott is a sweet fighter cause he KO'd Kahn? Especially at HW, a guy drops his guard for a second he can be finished. Fact is if George Foremans name was George Fordham hed never have been in that ring. He was coming off of a loss...how weak we the HW era of the 90s that a 45 year old guy who hadnt fought in a year coming off of a clear loss getting a title shot...almost as weak as the 70's where guys with 6 wins and a draw and Local YMCA fighters are getting title shots and winning the title or going the distance and knocking down the champ. thank god we are alive to witness the greatest time in HW boxing, a time where champs dont fight guys with 6 wins or 45 year olds who havent done jack in 20 years coming off of a long layoff and a loss...what **** eras the 70's and 90's were for hw boxing.
And who cares if Vitali hasnt fought at 40 yet. He's 40, he's the champ, and he's defending his belt...yet again.
And if youre going to say Foreman beat Briggs, at least acknowledge he got worked and pussed out against hand picked Schulz.
Vitali retired LL on a 10 days notice
You must have missed this interview, lol! Go to the 1:32 mark and listen to Vitaly tell how he prepared. Old Lewis tko'd prime Vitaly. I know it kills you!
Vitali retired LL on a 10 days notice
forza, they were both preparing for fights. then Kirk Johnson and Vit's opponent turned down the fights. and both Vitali and LEwis werent preparing to fight each, other but they were training. so why write this nonsense and at the same time, make people laugh at you and hate you.
I have a lot of respect for Vitali, unlike Wlad, because he is a blood and guts warrior and if they ever would fight he would crush Wlad, even now. Vitali is all heart. He probably will go on to have a great career after 40, just calling him the best 40+ fighter ever with no fights after 40 yet is just silly and stupid.
I love viatli but lets not get ahead of are selves, he hasnt fought at 40 for 1, so whos to say Adamak wont beat him, 2 he hasnt never fought the caliber opponent George or Holmes have faced... nor anyone 6'4 or bigger except old Shannon Briggs which whom he didnt KO).
But this Thread at this point is IRRELAVENT he hasnt fought at 40, nor a worthy Great fighter since Lewis in 2003...
As much as i love them the HW division is 2nd to jw,ww,mw,smw, lhw right now... The Klits havent been in anough wars to grant them 1st ballot HOfers iIMO
Good post and right on the money! :fing02:
He just turned 40 the other day. How has a man who has yet to win a fight at 40, considered the best 40+ heavyweight of all time :lol1:
He could probably get there though

I don't know if he is the best, but he is a damn fine heavyweight and with him pushing 40 I can only take my hat off and admire him. They got some good genetics in that family, no doubt.
He is going to destroy Adamek easily. If he can get Haye under his belt too he will will be ready to head into the sunset locked and loaded.
So he's unbeatable even though he's been beaten twice and is the greatest 40+ heavyweight ever even though he hasn't fought a fight after 40 yet? That's pretty much flawless logic.
Hes also a gold medalist, even know he got disqualified for steroid use.
