Just out of curiosity, what is this board's general opinion on Solis? Once a highly touted, and maybe still promising, cuban heavyweight, who seemed to either possibly take a dive against Vitali, or seriously injure his leg.
As an amateur he was great, and almost as good as his smaller comrade Gamboa, but what do you guys make of this 1st round knockout loss to Vitali? In my opinion, the shot to the temple didn't seem too heavy, and Solis' response was awkward and questionable. It's a bizarre turn of events, that I'm sure you guys discussed heavily months ago, but what do we make of him now?
I'm a massive fan of the Cubans, especially Gamboa & Lara.
He QUIT in the Byrd fight, that isn't bad luck, it's just a lack of heart.
A rotator cuff injury is career threatening and a lot worse than breaking hands (or even a leg honestly).
I can't think of many modern day fighters that would keep fighting like that, especially not someone with so much at stake. Can you?
And he got beat so bad by Lewis that the fight couldn't be continued without the risk of a permanent debilitating injury or disfigurement.
Lennox could be cut bad enough by an infant that he couldn't keep fighting.
Cuts are not an indication of skill or great punches. It's mostly fluke.
How is it that Klitschko fans can possibly call the end result of that fight a "knockout" and at the same time offer up endless b!tching and moaning and excuses about what transpired in the Lewis fight? How does tearing a ligament in your knee have anything to do with punches? Surely if Solis is healthy, he deserves an immediate rematch after Vitali is done with Adamek, wouldn't you say?
hey retarded fu.ckwit because if you watched the interview with vitali you'd see that Vitali says he KNOCKED solis out and THAT's what caused the injury because Solis got knocked out and fell thus breaking his knee. Damn some of you retards are illiterate and have fetal alcohol syndrome or something
Vitali's statement after his 1st round knockout win over Solis:
"I was inside the ring and I saw many, many times on video - the fight, and there is only one clear answer. I prepared the punch, half uppercut/half hook. I prepared this punch and I feel that I hit him pretty hard. Solis was knocked out, what happened after that, where he breaks his ligaments or his knee - it's his problem. I'm sorry the fight was so short. The next fight, I promise not to hit my opponent for the first three rounds, and then I'll knock him out. With Solis there are no excuses, this was a knockout punch"
nice signature bro :boxing:
Before the Klitschko fight ppl on here overrated, overhyped, overdick rided this guy. I myself, have never been big on this guy. He's never really had a signature win and looked sub par against Ray Austin. If he never fights again, I wouldn't care..
His hype was mainly a result of his stellar amateur career. As a pro he looked sluggish and unimpressive, and whilst a glimmer of his old skills would occasionally surface like a diver coming up for air, whatever he used to be was slowly getting drowned under ever increasing layers of fat.
Big big waste (waist?) or talent.

The old man Clitoli got lucky Solis got injured, Solis was winning the round. If Solis is not to return till 2012, Clitoli will be too old for Solis so Solis should not even bother with him then.
Clitoli? That's got to be the lamest, most contrived butchering of his name yet.
Grow up.

On the other hand, I think his fellow Cuban comrade Gamboa is destined for greatness. Or at least some of the more exciting featherweight/lightweight bouts we'll see in the coming years.
I'd love to see Solis come back stronger, in shape, and prove his quality, but it'll be a while.
his workrate don't compare to his talent/abilities.
If he got into shape he could be the third best hw in the world and possibly take over the throne one day.
