You are dead wrong! They only whooping going to be done BY Gomez. I can't say enough times, everybody loses and sometimes we have our worst outing at the wrong time so the label sticks. To heck with labels, Gomez has fought so many name and experienced fighters. Who has ALvarez fought? No ONE!!!! Rhodes....give me a break lads!!! Gomez gonna shock the world!!! Viva Go-go-GOmez!!!! That's one thing I'm 100% sure of. One of the things I have been most impressed with is Canelo's ability to be at the same level in the 1st round than in the 12th.
The kid is in amazing shape, it's hard to throw those types of punches with that power for a full 12 rounds.
I'm just saying it's far easier to look fresh in the later rds if you don't get hit. If you start eating some punches though, especially to the body, it's going to be a struggle to look like you did in rd one. I know he is in great shape and he is in his prime but he hasn't taken too many flushes punches thus far in his career.
Mark my words Canelo will batter him and stop him no later then the 6th rd.
Anything is possible but Gmoez has only been stopped once in his career - by Cotto. His other losses were all decisons in fights less than 10 rds - 4 rd fight, 6 rd fight, etc. Canelo throws very good combinations and is a big guy but Gomez does not come off as a quitter to me so either the ref stops it or Gomez will have to get KO'd.
If Alvarez beats the mess out of him and stops him, then I'll say he is as good as he is built to be- I was very impressed with his combination punching in the Rhodes fight though.

Agreed. :boxing:
Possibly but Gomez has good boxing skills and will land a good deal on Alvarez too. I'm not so sure that Alvarez will be in "top form" coming into the last 3 or 4 rds to the point where he can just steam roll Gomez. Anything could happen though and it is definitely one that I'll be enjoying as long as it lasts.

In defense of Gomez, Cotto was prime and Gomez wasn't nearly as good as he is now. Gomez has improved greatly, especially his pure boxing and counter punching.
I think so too. The Soto-Karass fight showed he's elevated his level far above what he was during the Cotto fight.
This kid should not be a pushover for Canelo.
I think Canelo stops him because of styles. Gomez will end up standing in front of Canelo in the later rounds and the size and strength of Canelo will be too much.

Gomez is actually a pretty good fighter...B+ guy. I think that this will be Alvarez's toughest fight to date, he pulls out a decision win, no stoppage.

Anyway, I'm sure this'll have something to do with money since this will be on the Mayweather-Ortiz PPV but split site, so i doubt Goldenboy's budget could get them a great oppenent.
He'll look good on the biggest PPV this year & get more of a following, I'm sure that is Goldenboy's aim.
Yea, they went that way. I'll probably just sleep through that fight until the main event comes.

This is the guy that looked like complete crap against Cotto. I also picked Gomez to beat shot Gatti and Castillo. My pickes on Gomez have all been right so far. I picked Cotto to win and Cotto brutalized him.

I think people put a bit too much emphasis on the Cotto fight as the definitive fight to judge Gomez. He came into that fight with a broken knuckle on his right hand and after having a serious illness in the middle of his training camp that required him to be hospitalized, plus that was prime Cotto in there, who was an absolute monster. Alvarez shows promise but he's no prime Cotto yet. Gomez is a good technician, and most importantly he will actually come to win and throw punches unlike most of Canelo's opposition to this point. There won't be any bullets left in the chamber from him either way it goes.
