Wlad's a very good defensive fighter, but i think Tyson would probably beat him.
One issue for Wlad would be the mental side of things; Mike at his best had such a fearsome reputation Wlad would be very very tentative to engage, if he can’t land the jab as in the Haye fight he won’t be able to land anything else as all his work comes of the jab. I could also see Wlad crumbling mentally if Tyson lands a few clean power punches.
Wlads best hope is to flick the jab and then hold and lean all over Tyson on the inside, but he would either get disqualified or probably lose a decision. I just feel against Tyson Wlad would be to cautious to win.
Tyson would destroy Klitschko
Wlad is so One dimensional he cannot fight off of his back foot, no side to side. No hooks uppercuts nada. Tyson equals easy KO
tyson never faced someone as big, strong, athletic and with the great conditioning of wlad. i think tysons cardio problems would play a big role in this fight. I could see tyson getting tired and wlad finishing him late.
Everything you say of Wlad is true. It's also true that Klitschko has never faced anyone approaching the human wrecking machine that was prime Tyson. "Iron" Mike didn't have "cardio problems." His high energy style simply didn't lend itself well to prolonged wars. But remember, twelve rounds are a long time not to get caught with a thunderbolt.
letme add Tyson had the footwork and bob and weave to always get inside. If Klit ran back constantly, Tyson was great at cutting off the ring. Theres even videos of him explaining how he cut off the ring. Im telling you a prime Tyson had everything down packed to perfection.

Prime Tyson had everything you need to KO Klit.
Great boxing skill.
Great footwork and head movement and defense - he'll get inside the jab
Always threw combinations
Great jab
Knockout power
Killer instinct
Determinaton
Athletic, in shape always
Tyson had everything to beat Klit easily. Amateur background, good corner, Tyson was really a powerhouse and skilled one at that. Id be scared for Klit.
Tyson was too 1 dimensional. I think he may be too small to get inside on Wlad.
Wlad would use his jab. Tyson hits hard, but what good is that if he can't land the punches?
I predict Wlad wins an easy decision or late round TKO over prime Tyson
That's the point. Tyson would land punches. I can't see Wlad avoid taking at least two or three flush shots from prime Tyson within the first four rounds, not if Klitschko came to fight. And can you honestly see the younger K brother eat two or three wrecking balls from prime Tyson and not "do the dance"?
That brings up another point. It's been mentioned that several men were able to tie Tyson up, "Boneclutcher" Smith being a prime example. That approach may have saved the culprits from being carried out on a stretcher, but it didn't win them any points. "Iron" Mike won those bouts by lopsided UDs.
The thread title should be renamed "Prime Tyson would murder Wlad Klitschko."
How many times i gotta say this if Brewster knocked out Wlad, Tyson is gonna wipe the floor with the Ukrainian champ.
Totally irrelevant. We're talking prime for prime. Wlad's prime is right now aged 35, Tyson's was 20-22.
Just remember Tyson's fight against Bonecrusher Smith. He didn't know what to do. I was more tyan surprised at the way Tyson fought in this fight. But we should consider how, having had this experience, he'd go about a similiar fight in a different way.
My own choice for top Heavyweight historically, wavers between pre-gaol tyson and Jack Johnson. Everything Ali did, Johnson could do better, and he toyed with all his opponents, even Tommy Burns, whom he'd been wanting to fight for a couple of years.
So I think that Tyson was capable of beating both Klitschkos, but, styles make fights so I don't know who'd win.
And how do you come to this conclusion? Because of the many quality videos showing Johnson fight? :chairshot
tall guys that lean on opponents with a sick jab? bad bad bad combo for Mike

He could be tied up in clinches and his attacks nullified, Green, Tucker and Smith all did it to affect and went the full distance. Wlad is very good at clinching and way better than Smith or Green in all departments. I would still favour 86-88 Mike to get inside him at some point albeit, probably late on.
Current Tyson hell yes.
The Kevin Roony Cus Tyson...i wouldnt put a dime of my money on it.
Mike was an Animal...i wished he had fought Lennox in those years also.
Bowe also.
Oh well we will never know :damnit:
Also take note women can soften your mental state
he fell fckin with Robin Givens if you ask me.
Tyson 86-89 has Wlad unconcious within 3 Rounds and Vitali in the 4th Round or less.
That's being kind to the Klitschko's.
that's being to generous to Wlad, and maybe a tad to harsh on Vitali
dude, Tyson was blowing EVERYone out in under 5 rounds...those guys survived because they jabbed and leaned on Mike
i'm not saying Wlad could do it for 12rounds but all im saying is that he possesses the tools that other Tyson opponents had that did better than getting steamrolled
Wlad's chin might betray him in a Tyson fight...Vitali on the otherhand, probably whoops him
looking at david haye, an the right hand that he landed in the 12 that clearly had rocked. Tyson could punch much faster and much more harder than Haye, but most importantly he had amazing combinations. Can you honestly say that if Haye could land 4 bombs in a row that wlad would have been standing?
Vitali is much tougher, but he dosn't have the offensive capabilities to trouble Tyson. He's to slow and his left hand down to his hip leaves him open for Tyson's springing left hook. He just hasen't been tested yet, there was a moment in the Lewis fight where LL unloaded a huge uppercut and Vitali was almost ready to go! Tyson would have eventually stopped him.
