Its always interesting to see how guys react after getting knocked out viciously(one of the most devestating KOs Ive seen actually)
Im gonna youtube him.. Its not hard to outbox williams as his defense is his offense, but leaves himself open waaay too much.. Williams needs a new trainer, hes been getting hit waaay to often with the same counters for the last 6 years
Are you serious? He made his biggest waves in that fight but he'd been the best guy at JMW for a while.
Sure, but nobody was picking Martinez to win that fight. At the time of the first fight, PWill was invincible, everybody was ducking him, and Pavlik backed out a month before their fight, so Maravilla stepped in. Again, I'm not saying you were wrong about him being the guy at JMW, but that doesn't mean he was given a shot to beat PWill at '60.
lara has a chance for sure. he has a great amateur background so he knows how to fight and on top of that he can really punch. williams also struggles with southpaws, if nothing else lara has a punchers chance.
that said williams should win, he has performed at a much higher level than lara. the man is a three time world champion, he holds wins over wright, margarito, martinez, phillips etc. lara fought nobody even close to that.
i got pwill by late stoppage.
No one gave Martinez a chance in the first Williams fight.
Not that Lara is Sergio Martinez.
Just throwing that out there.
Are you serious? He was always the guy who matched best with Williams on paper before that fight. At 160 as opposed to 154, more people picked Williams at the time, but Martinez wasn't a perfunctory opponent in that fight. He made his biggest waves in that fight but he'd been the best guy at JMW for a while. Forrest didn't want any before he died either.
Lara just isn't ready for this kind of fight. He's not busy enough and will be forced into a high guard for most of the fight.
I think Lara will pull off the upset. If he can contend with P-Will's workrate and counter effectively, he can do it. Regardless, I think it will be a good fight.
P. Dub is a tall order (no pun intended) for Lara at this point in Erislandy's career. If Williams wasn't coming off that "Maravilla" KO, I'd feel that Lara's chances were less than even. I agree that Erislandy isn't "busy enough and would "be forced into a high guard for most of the fight." But I have this feeling that Lara is going to try to test Paul's chin early. He's going to take chances. Is P. Will going to be shy? Will he crumble at the first flush shot? These questions help to make this match more interesting than usual; and whatever happens, I'm convinced this is going to be an exciting fight.

That KO was just so brutal, it's hard to imagine pwill ever coming completely back. Not saying it can't happen but that's one tall order. I've never seen lara fight so it's hard for me to guess at what it will look like. But I always enjoy watching pwill fight so it will be interesting to see how everything shapes out.
Paul Williams is gonna beat some ass. Lol, Lara struggled against Carlos Molina.
So, before PWill was KO'd by Martinez, he got rocked by Cintron (who was hanging in) in their fight prior to... well, until Cintron tried to 619 a judge.
Unless Lara can rise for the occasion I haven't seen anything from him that says that he will beat Williams.
The other factor is how Williams comes back after a KO. Fighters get caught and KOed it is just a fact of boxing and it was by one of the best fighters of the sport today.
Interesting fight well worth watching cause it will answer a lot of questions for both boxers
Lara doesnt appear to be a fighter who stylistically matches well against a volume punching monster like PW. Lara likes to cover up at times and let opponents get off on him. He does this against PW and he is in for a beating and will be stopped. I dont see him having the strength, speed, activity or defense it will take to beat Williams. In short he will have to hope that Williams is no longer Williams after the KO loss or he is getting victimized.
I think he's better than you're giving him credit for, but I also believe the main point at the end of your post is correct. If PW's chin and will are still there he will win. If Martinez stole both he's done.

If Sergio broke Paul Williams, then he has a chance. If not, Lara is in trouble.
Even with that devastating knock out, you don't break someone with PW's determination. People make too much of a knockout (even this one which I enjoyed). It happens. Now if he had taken beatings in succession such as Margz has then I'd be concerned. If it was up to Paul he'd prob would've fought sooner than later after his loss to Sergio.

I think he can and might pull the upset. I like Williams, but I never thought he was all that special. Plus I think he is one of those fighters who will never be the same after his devastating knock out loss.
That's exactly why I'm thinking Lara's going to win. That was a career changer he took against Martinez.

He actually has a great chance. They both had bad performances in their last outings, but it's hard to gauge what exactly PWill's mindset is and if he actually felt that he needed to make changes. If it's the same PWill, I like Lara in this fight.
Lara never inspired me. He's a solid fighter, but not much more. Before the Martinez KO, I would've picked Williams to win. It remains to be seen if Sergio took P. Will's soul. If the old Paul is still with us, Williams by UD. If not, it's a toss up.

He is a straight forward come forward 1-2 puncher with no head movement.
I don't see anyway that he beats Williams unless Williams is shot which is yet to be seen. I wouldn't pick Lara to win, this should be an easy fight for Williams as long as he still has something left which I think he does.

Lara isnt even Carlos Quinatana.
