Where's Juan Manuel Marquez? WFT
Best Boxer Today? Juan Manuel Marquez, the guy is a great boxer who is one of the best counter punchers I've ever seen, he's willing to face the best and is surely a future HOF
Best Natural Talent?: Abner Mares, the guy is underrated by some people but he has great talent, a huge heart and with his short career he has already become one of the best of the world. In fact he should already have a championship but they gave him a draw against Perez in a fight he won. It doesn't matter, he'll get it later this year.
Biggest Mexican Fraud?: Chavez Jr, The guy has faced terrible opposition, and in the first fight he gets against a "good" rival, he wins with a controversial decision. The guy is training with Freddy Roach, but he has one of the worst defenses I've seen.
Most Exciting?: Jorge 'Travieso' Arce. This guy is always fun to watch, he's a pure brawler who's willing to fight the best and is very happy by exchanging punches with the rival. He has a great chin and never gives up.
Honorable mention: Giovani Segura, also a pure brawler with a similar style to Travieso Arce, but also extremely fun to watch.
Biggest Heart?:Juan Manuel Marquez and Antonio Margarito. The first one is the clear example of a guy who doesn't care what's happening in the fight, he always fights at his best and we've seen it before, when he gets knocked down he always get up and fights even better than he was doing before. The second one is a guy who receives a lot of punches because of his style, but he loves the sport, he always wants to win and he's also willing to fight the best, something that boxing lacks these days.
Now with the poll, as there's no JMM, I chose other.
If we can count Mexican Americans.
Jose Benavidez is the most talented Hispanic I’ve seen so far.
Jesus, he's like a Latino version of Tommy Hearns.
Well hes a solid prospect,But we dont know how good his chin is.And he
may have trouble with fighters who like to fight on the inside.example is
his rival frankie gomez.
Abner Mares deserves an honorable mention. Another native of the state of Jalisco. Lets see how he does against Joseph Agbeko, and possibly Fernando Montiel or Nonito Donaire.
Best Boxer Today? Juan Manuel Marquez
He is one of the best active boxers out there, a caliber of a P4P fighter. If anything, after his loss to Duckweather in 2009 he won his matches twice against Juan Diaz and then Michael Katsidis.
Best Natural Talent?: Saul Canelo (kid has potential, this coming from a hater)
Honestly, the kid is improving and I respect his winnings. I'm still not sold on him. His belt was won through deception making a Welterweight with no power climb to Junior Middleweight and disrespecting him coming in overweight. Still, he is improving.
Biggest Mexican Fraud?: JCC Jr.
Honestly, he won his belt controversially. I think the boxer he beat won the match due to the amount of clean shots he gave JJC Jr.'s face. And I don't see any improvement. He boxes like a mentally handicapped person unable to produce fluidity while fighting. He fights erratically and has no combinations/techniques whatsoever to show for. He trains with Freddie Roach but it seems he isn't learning anything. I also think Freddie Roach owes his stature due to Pacquiao a lot.
Most Exciting?: Giovanni Segura, what can I say? He fought in enemy territory and knocked out the undefeated Puerto Rican boxer in his hometown. And he once again knocked him out in Mexico leaving no doubt who is the better fighter. I like him. He has a lot of flaws but he makes up for it with shear will and power which makes him an entertaining fighter because you get the sense/feeling that he is always fighting behind and down in the scorecards and he makes it up by trying to knockout his opponents every round.
Biggest Heart?: Orlando Salido, another road warrior and labeled as a journeyman. Counted out before the bell rings. He was once one of the top boxers in the lower weight divisions listed high in Top 10 among the alphabet soup organizations. Until he lost to better fighters during title matches or title eliminator fights. Still, he went there in Puerto Rico against all odds and won the fight against Juan Manuel Lopez. He embodies what every aged and road warrior boxers out there want and that is to win a title against all odds. Although young, he is George Foreman and Bernard Hopkins personified that the thinking of never giving up must take precedence.
That is what I think about Mexican fighters.
Juan Manuel Marquez is the best boxer fighting right now out of mexico. Hes #3 or #4 P4P in the world depending on who you ask and he has better technique and a boxing brain that operates much faster than any of the other names you had up there in your poll, which surprised me that you would ask who is the best mexican boxer and forget to actually put the best boxer of mexico on there.
at the risk of sounding like a nutthugger I partially disagree
Best Boxer Today? JMM
Best Natural Talent?: JMM & Canelo
Biggest Mexican Fraud?: JCC Jr.
Most Exciting?: Angulo
Biggest Heart?:JMM & Margarito
I can judge his natural talent because i've seen 30+ JMM fights and when he was starting he was gifted.... more so than MAB and EM
and Heart .... if you get up after 4 knock downs to kick someones ass ...well that shows more heart than taking a superb beating
can't knock Margaritos heart though....... he took one of the worst beating in modern boxing and kept coming forward
JMM is the Lightweight Lineal champion.
Hes about to fight Pacquiao for the 3rd time and he just fought Mayweather.
how can you not know this?
I voted other ...hes the best Mexican boxer right now and one of the top p4ps in the world
