offer to fight Wlad for free in a rematch. I would be so ashamed of my self I would need to get some form of redemption.
That was the most embarrassing performance you could ever wish to see. I was a Haye fan before this fight but now I'm that disgusted with him I couldnt care less if he disappeared from the public eye forever.
My prediction was always that it was a 50:50 fight and I always thought Haye could do it. I was so pumped before the fight I couldnt sit down and then he goes and does that. Every time he slipped a jab he should have countered, Wlad was clearly off balance a few times after missing, but Haye decided it would be better to stand there and admire himself for the slip. I am disgusted and embarrassed for ever thinking he had it in him. I've seen more fight and heart in a kitten!
Sorry for the rant, I know I probably sound like a tw@t but I needed too get it off my chest! :)
Yes thats a good idea. Haye should fight Wlad and only get his training expenses paid. That will give haye a chance to show he can beat Wlad. Haye already got paid 15 million so one fight without pay dont seem so bad.
Wlad did not give him anything to counter, thats why it certain rounds Haye had his hands completely down (which was unreal) asking this giant to hit him, but Wlad did not fall for that.
Wlad was happy just jabbing and wanted the easy win...which is fair enough, but not impressive, since he talked of punishing Haye, which he didnt do.
The only other way Haye could have changed the mood of fight was to go all out, like he did in round 12, which would mean he would risk getting tko'd, but at the same time that would have made Wlad more aggressive and allowed Haye to counter him.
Haye never took risks and thats why the lost the fight.
I know what you mean after slipping and rolling with some of Wlad's punches he should have tried to answer each one with a counter and I think the opportunities were actually there for him. For whatever reason he couldn't execute the plan. If it was the toe having something to do with it, well who knows. I think He would watch the fight over and realize he could have done better and after taking the jab away from the most part, the window was there to counter Wlad.
Rematch in London perhaps? I think Wlad cannot be happy with his work either and I am sure would want to win more conclusively.
Good post, plenty of rational thought in there! Kind of counters my ranting haha.
Did you not see him fighting Valuev and Harrison lol... don't know why people expected him to come out with guns blazing.
I didnt expect him to come out all guns blazing, I just wish he had taken the opportunities when he had them, and he had a few, if he was just 50% more aggressive the fight would have been much closer.
And to come straight on camera afterwards complaining about his toe, I mean come on, he made a right fool of himself.
I know, and I expected it from him. But when he saw it wasnt working he should have had a plan B and C. it was clear he was having problems, I said in a previous thread before the fight that if you want to catch Wlad you need to add another 6inches to your reach because of that half step back and the way he pulls his head wayyyyy back. He is always going to be tough to hit clean.
The tactic of counter punching would have worked if he had actually thrown counters, Wlad was off balance a few times after Haye slipped him, he should have let his hands go, I was screaming at the TV - but he clearly didnt hear me :)

Why you disappointed? Haye does what he awlways does too. Counter punch looking for the big shots!

I agree both fighters were pathetic, but then again Wlad is always pathetic. Haye disappointed me. It was clear he was having problems with Wlad, who wouldnt? but what was embarrassing was that instead of gritting his teeth, fighting through any pain and show any sort of heart he just decided to complain to the ref and feel sorry for himself because his toe was hurting.

My initial reaction after watching it in the pub was that nobody won, Haye because he didn't live up to a tenth of the hype and trash talk, Wlad because he couldn't/wouldn't put him away and boxing in general after such a ridiculous build up that failed to deliver.
First and foremost we expect to be entertained, I didn't mind who won the fight, but it was all a bit of a no contest after talk of 6 round knockouts from Haye and the 50th knockout by Wlad. It's all talk, and its rare when these men deliver.
Embarrassing?
Haye was fighting a 6'7, 250 pound monster, who didn't want to engage. Yes he could have been more aggressive, but that's a little hard to do against someone as big and as skilled as Klitschko. Haye was banking on an aggressive Wlad coming out of the corner, so he could counter over his shots and land big Hayemakers. That didn't happen.
Both fighters should be blamed for the lack of action in the fight. Neither impressed me.
