Sorry about the quality of some of those fights. Not all the videos have all the fights and the last is more of a highlight/interview.
In any event, those are the fights I was able to find. 8 out of his 17 fights.
POSITIVES:
He has a quality right hand. It seems to have some quality power behind it. He's able to land it at strange angles as well, due to his fast reflexes. All fights have been won by knockout, so it does help his marketability and he has seemingly earned them. 17 fights in less than three years, as well. Decent pace. Staying in good shape all the while. Seems to have a legitimate belief in himself. His jab is also decent. Fast hands when he lets his combinations go.
NEGATIVES:
BUMS. He's been fighting nothing but bums. His opponents combined record is 138-124-13. Not the best statistic. While he is trying to build his stature, that doesn't improve his skills. Which, seems apparent, by the fact that he still fights the way he did in his first fight as in his last. He doesn't fight tall and long enough for his body type and he's not in a position to get away with it like Paul Williams, for example. He's also yet to step up in any legitimate way. Though, his last opponent did have more than 60 fights under his belt with 40+ wins. As mentioned, he hasn't seemed to improve and he seems to have become comfortable with that. His defense has holes, to say the least. His hands are low and his wide base makes him an even bigger target. Can get sloppy at times, as well.
So, with that being said and the videos as evidence of his abilities, what are your thoughts?
How far will he take his talents?
What do you want to see from him?
Any other thoughts? Vote and discuss.
What kind of name is Deontay? These hood rats give their kids the dumbest names, lets take a name and butcher it and add a few apostrophes and other crap because "he is unique"
I see he has an Amateur Record which is better than 90% of the rest of the US HW bums out there.
Its not about his skill or talent its all about how he is in the head and if he is any smart.
He probably has the physical talent but lets see if he is emotionally there.
Anyone know how he was raised? Poor/Rich , City/Small Town? Has a mother and father who raised him? Does he have any kids? Married?
Someone write a bio on this dude.

Here's a bit of info on Wilder before he turned pro. I think this was written right before the '08 Olympics.
http://boxing.about.com/od/amateurs/p/wilder.htm
Wilder has to be moved slow. He took up boxing late and as an amateur he didn't have too many fights. I heard he was pretty much forced to turn pro to take care of his family.
He's a work in progress. If he learns how to use his jab and can pack on like 15 pound of muscle he'll be fine. Most HW's don'y really hit their prime till their like 28 so I expect him to be moved slowly for the next couple years.

he has a LONG WAY TO GO before he is ready to contend and I am not talking about "A FEW MORE FIGHTS, I would say he is A FEW YEARS AWAY
but at the same time it is nothing wrong with working your way up the OLD FASHION way by fighting in small gyms against fat out of shape BUMS, but eventually you have to step up the competition and at least fight guys who are in just as good of shape as you are and not some FAT CLUB BOUNCE/OFF DUTY SECURITY GUARD
I've followed Wilder since the Olympics and I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll enjoy success in the hw division in years to come. He's a likeable guy, has good confidention and determination (to develop as a fighter) and as demonstrated by his 17 kayos in 17 fights, he has that 'killer instinct.'...
As was stated, there are a lot of possitive attributes to his game but his defense is lacking and his opposition has been down right awful. I understand that he didn't have an extensive amateur background and his people are moving him along slowly but there comes a point where it's detrimental to a fighter. He needs to get the experience by fighting good seasoned veterans/journeymen.
Hopefully in his next fight, he fight someone with a pulse. Also, for undefeated young prospect, Wilder doesn't get a lot of tv airtime. I mean, how many times have he been on ESPN FNFs? He should be headlining or cofeaturing their events at this point. Why aren't they marketing their fighter?
All the athleticism in the world, but not a lot boxing skill. Not yet at least. He doesn't use jab much, which should be his main asset. As many have said; he needs a real trainer. I think it will take him getting his first loss before he finally goes out and finds someone that knows how to train him. Manny Steward would be ideal.
His current management just keeps matching him with absolute bums, waiting for him to get thrown into a payday. This is a really hurting him as a fighter, because he's not being prepared for even C and B level heavyweights.
He is not going to make it on the international scene, too light and lanky, he should move down to cruiser, unless he packs on 30 pounds of muscle. That bronze medal means very little, not to mention that half the top 10s in the HWs got a gold medal at the Olympics (Wlad, Dimitrenko, Povetkin, Chagaev).
Oh, and Boytsov too I think. All the Russians/Ukranians basically.

Deontay is a Hype job were nearing the 2012 olympics and he isn't ranked nor has he fought someone in the top 10. I recall olympians such as Sugar Ray, the 1984 class already had a title when the next olympics came. Iron Mike Tyson tried to make the Olympics in 1984 but was already a Champion by 1987
