2:21 the first hard punch is thrown which wobbles Pavlik, 2:30 Pavlik goes down:
The assault starts at 2:09, KD at 2:19...notice Taylor did all of that with just punches landed:
I know Taylor lost both of those fights by TKO in the 7th and 12th respectively, props to Pavlik and Froch for having a lot of heart and coming back with TKO wins. Just putting it out there, Taylor has been the only fighter to knock down and hurt both Kelly Pavlik and Carl Froch. That has to account for something. He's coming back to 160 and we're gonna see some more KD's i'm sure of it, Pavlik and Froch have iron chins. Martinez and Hopkins couldn't hurt Pavlik like Taylor did. And Abraham or Kessler couldn't hurt Froch like Taylor did.
Jermain needed a long break to recharge his batteries. If he feels he is ready to return then lets he is enttitled to give it a go. The fact that he is aiming to make 160 again shows his passion for training in the gym to cut the weight and make a real go of it.
Erik if anything looked even more washed up but he came back against a dangerous opponent and showed that form is temporray but class is permenant.
I just think they need to be careful who they match him against. Abraham is also moving back down but that fight may bring back bad memories for him. He wants to start fresh against a guy wh isnt a banger. He can work his way towards Sturm but again Im sure Germany wont bring back pleasant memories. Martinez in America could be hyped up into a big fight between big names . Martinez is a lights out hitter but is the smaller man so I think Jermain might go for that one.
I was at JT's last fight against Abe...when he got ko'd, it seemed like nobody in the crowd knew he had just suffered the exact same way he did in his previous fight with Froch....smh @ the Germans lol.....anyway, glad to hear my dude is about to comeback :boxing:
I can't believe the ridiculous, idiotic replies in this thread. Taylor wasn't just KO'd by Abe. He was losing the fight the whole way through, got concussed, brought to the hospital and stayed there with bleeding on his brain. What is TS trying to say, exactly? Not to underestimate Jermain on this comeback because he hurt two guys who ultimately KHTFO?
Jermain should stay retired so he doesn't end up like Roy, or Meldrick, or Ali.
You're talking about fights that happened at 168 2 years ago.
He's coming back to 160 where he is 26-1-1.
The Abraham fight was a close fight, the judges had it for Abraham for 2 rounds I believe, and that was in Germany, one of the most corrupted boxing countries. If the judges show close scorecards in the fighters hometown, then you know the fight is even closer than that.
JT is 100% healthy, he passed all of his tests, he went to two top notch neurologist and they both determined he's in as much risk of getting hurt as every other fighter. He's also back with Pat Burns, Burns refused to coach him again unless Taylor was 100% healthy, which he is. And he's in outstanding shape and ready to fight again.
My point of this thread is simply how much of a badass Jermain Bad Intentions Taylor is. Haters can hate on his comeback, but I know he's gonna prove his non believers wrong.
I doubt Taylor will ever be close to the same. But sometimes taking a couple years off after taking a lot of punishment and kos can really be the best thing. Look at Morales people thought maidana was going to kill him and he damn near won with one eye.
Yeah I was thinking about Morales too. Props to Taylor for being the only guy to put down Froch and Pavlik so far but we cant forget that he is damaged goods. Then again we look at Morales and hopefully he can follow suit.
If he can be the beast that he once was at 160 I really want to see him against Martinez.
He also failed to hurt Spinks who was ktfo by 140lb Zab.
Something that never gets mentioned is that he threw a elbow against Pavlik which is why Pavlik dropped his gloves. You can see Pavlik give Taylor a wft look then Taylor lands about 5 or 6 clean hooks on his chin to put him down. Kelly was up by 3.
Taylor will come back strong, i'm positive. I just hope they don't rush him in with any dangerous punchers right away. A couple of top 6-10 MW's would be good to start off. Or whatever, it depends how he feels, if he's ready for big names after just one comeback fight.
If there is one fighter out there who I hope true success comes to, it is Taylor. To me he has always come across as the most down to earth guy in the sport.
If he does come back, I hope it is not financially driven. I truly hope he has found that inner fire. I hope he just wants it again to prove himself.
That PAVLIK fight was so awesome.
But I do agree. I think the long rest will do a LOT in restoring Taylors hunger and desire in the right.
I remember him saying around the Pavlik fight that he was fighting for the money. If he has some love for the game back, I think he could make a run at a title.
We'll see though
hopefully he has learned a few things about being disciplined and remaining close to fight weight. He wouldn't have lost a few fights if his stamina was where it should have been.
Anyway hope he comes back strong:boxing:, i don't think i could stomach watching him get KO'd again.
Jermain WAS a very talented fighter. But his best days are long gone now. It's a shame he probaly could of achieved more. I really don't see him doing much in his comeback......
