This would be a good next fight for Berto, not to tough but not to easy.. The press conferences i think would be good i can imagine paulie sayin Berto's a hype and hasnt fought nobody and hes gonna Expose him again the way ortiz did. And this will be paulie's last chance to beat a top contender And hopefully after berto kicks his ass we wont have to see paulie's borefest on hbo anymore... What do u guys think?
it'd be an interesting fight. i think berto has the power to stop him. paulie's been looking good recently though, i'd like to see this happen. isn't berto/zaveck in talks though? i think that or mosley/berto should happen
I think that's a terrible match!!! Berto needs to get back in the ring against someone GOOD, or atlest against a big name, he won't rebuild any ranking beating Paulie...
It's about time we seen Berto Vs Mosley!! The fight was suppose to happen years ago, but was called off. Mosley is coming off losses, Berto is coming off a loss.
Berto vs Mosley!!
Shane could go out on top, showing that he still has what it takes to beat a young lion, and Berto could finally fight that big name (no matter what kind of threat Mosley is)
Yeah, he fights with a style that does not suit his injured right hand.
Mayweather and Calzaghe fight/fought with styles that best suited there injured hands. Mayweather with his constantly broken right hand; pot shots and works at a slow pace, with fast hands and perfect accuracy, he's a counterpuncher, doesn't engage much. Calzaghe used workrate and handspeed to win, but didn't throw strong punches, just "slaps" as people like to call them.
Malignaggi boxes like a guy who does not have hand problems, and that's where he fails. He needs to be like Calzaghe and win on work rate and handspeed. He has the chin to open up and take chances, no he doesn't have the power, but that's where his workrate and handspeed do the work for him. It's not too late to change, Calzaghe was not a workrate fighter when he had good hands, he changed his style after he injured his hands.
Whether Malignaggi wants to do this or not, that's up to him. But slapping fast punches, a lot of them, is what best suits Malignaggi.
Good observation, and I agree to most except the difference between Paulie and the other two (Mayweather/Calzaghe) is he lacks the head movement and the little bit of power that the other two have to keep his opponents honest..realistically, Mayweather has bad hands too, but possesses enough power to make his opponents think twice before just coming in with relentless pressure, and Paulie..not so much..lol Mayweather's accuracy and head movement equals his genius counter punching, and Paulie doesn't move his head enough to counter punch
His key to victory is landing cleaner shots and landing ALOT!..and once he starts doing that the pressure against him begins and he's gotta throw with his power to hold them off a bit and that's when his hand get injured. I'm not sure there's much Paulie can do at this stage, it's getting worse I believe
both r promoted by dibella.. i doubt itd happenMalignaggi left DiBella last year for Golden Boy.
Whatever happened to Berto fighting Zaveck for his strap? Haven't heard anything about that lately.
I agree, you can thank styles for that tho.
but I believe both of Paulie's hands broke in that fight, which is sad that it's the price to pay for him to put on a good performance.

I thought he looked good against a respectable opponent in Jose Cotto.
I thought Malignaggi looked better against Jose Cotto than Canelo did.

Man I love Paulie Malignaggi, he's a good boxer and a great showman, has the heart of a LION and ZERO quit in him, I just think he needs to call it a career and look in to commentating, his hands aren't holding up anymore, and it's getting pretty bad.
His hands have been broken more than a several times and he fights on like nothing, I respect the hell out of him for that, but it's time to walk in my opinion.
Berto needs to fight Shane Mosley next, and redeem himself with an impressive show.
