He does deserve credit. Fact most people don't want to give credit is because it was Marquez first time fighting at that weight. No one knew how bad it was going to affect Marquez. Its not like they forced him to go up in weight, if I recall it was Marquez who wanted to fight Floyd. Yes it was a ***** move to not make the weight but either way Floyd would have dominated Marquez the same way even if he did make the catch weight. Another reason Floyd went the distance is he was trying to loose the rust if he had any. He could have put more pressure towards the end and gotten a late KO but that's Floyd for you, always sticking to the game plan.
You gotta admit that there isnt a WW out there that could make JMM look like that except Floyd. No its not a career defining win but it did make a big statement to Roach and crew. Similar to Pac destroying DLH though it was under peculiar circumstances. I give the Marquez fight credit for what it was. A "look what I can do Pacquiao" type of match. Nothing to brag about and also nothing to ignore either.
No I don't have to give him credit for that because I think there are a couple ww's that would walk right through jmm and look more impressive by knocking him out.
Today? Not really.......but the name JMM who is a future HOF will decorate Floyd's resume in 50 years. Fact.
Stopped saying that Bull****, I already debunked that theory.
Sigh.
My friend, I'm here to talk boxing, not search for "respect." Clowns like you ruin NSB by blabbering all sorts of uninformed opinions, typically doing it while on your knees. Most of the sharper guys in this forum don't have the patience or energy to slap you a couple times while you're already down there. I have no issues doing it while talk boxing. But keep it up. Yeah, we may have to wait five years to watch a nuthugger like you disappear, but guess what? I don't mind because I'll still be talking boxing then while you search for the next hero to latch your life to.
All it would take is one loss and POOF.. all the stans will be gone.
Thanks! Your opinion here is very well respected.
:lol1: :lol1:

Not really. When I saw them in the ring it was obvious that Floyd was huge, JMM looked really small against him. I thought that Floyd was going to KO Marquez, since he's really good and was a lot heavier than Marquez. Still the fight ended in a UD. I gave more respect to Marquez for trying to do everything to win. Floyd should've KOd JMM, but he didn't =/.
Yes I bow to you. Can I go now? Thanks.
youre the one who decided to come back to the thread. I thought you might actually have had some sort of argument instead of a sarcastic remark.
Same same.......... if you think Norris is a HOF (deserving) then good for you. OK?
Weak sauce.
just to confirm, you have no argument whatsoever that Grigorian is somehow as accomplished as Norris was, correct?
excellent. so you were completely wrong. well done!
Credit yes, Respect no. To me they are different. Floyd gets credit for the win but the 144 weight and the $600k for the 2lbs over was simply the bigger draw exerting too much influence over the parameters of the fight.
I echo your sentiments. It was a good solid win where he showed more skill and ability than JMM. But he was too big for him. If Floyd was naturally a lightweight or JMM naturally a welterweight, it would have been closer, no doubt. Probably the same result, but definitely closer. I think also the whole weight issue coming 2lbs over the contract weight was a ***** move and taking away JMM's only advantage. So a good solid win and deserving of credit, yes...definitely. But fighting him at a more respectable weight, or earlier in his career etc...would have been much more impressive. And then just the fact that so many other fighters were there for him and he picked someone two divisions lower.
that Katsidis and his face-block technique is truly something to behold
Don't say that. :nonono:
I like Kats. I don't want to see him get literally murdered by Pac.
Weak resume for a HOF. No better than the fighters I listed. Thanks for playing.
lmao. you listed guys like Artur Grigorian and Sven Ottke you dumbass. Grigorian never beat a single top ten fighter while he held his title and Ottke probably only legitimately beat 4 good opponents at best fairly while he held the title, and Im probably being generous.
by all means, list who Grigorian and Ottke beat that makes them as accomplished as Norris. Ill be waiting.
no 1's beat him like that....floyd won every round..do you give him credit?
Not really. JMM would have been a great fight when they were younger and at their more natural weights but Floyd was much more acclimated to WW than JMM at this time. It was harder for JMM to be effective at WW, than for Floyd to come back from retirement. You cant call that a solid win because Marquez wasnt a solid dude @ WW when they fought. You have to beat the best, at their best, to be the best. Floyd Mayweather beating Juan Marquez @ his first shot at WW didnt really mean much to the WW division. The Mosely fight is what mattered that year.
absolutely.
nevertheless, I was pissed off by Floyd failing to make the contract weight. I remember him drinking bottle after bottle minutes before the weight-in? WTF?
Where did I say you said he deserved it? Stop putting words in my mouth.
All I did was mention that Norris got the NOD to the HOF because of SRL........and you were all over me like a PEDO to a 5 year old. It's my opinion and you are trying to pick it apart. Owning you in the past puts a bitter pill in you mouth?....don't hurry up too much for revenge fronter.

We can try this again if you want...............as long as Pac wins ain't gonna lose to haters like you. :fing02: Wait 5 years kid....then maybe.
With this comment...you've owned yourself. You just don't know boxing.
How does he deserve more credit when he lost???? You are not making any sense. This is Floyds style, so what you have really just proved is that floyd outclassed that ass without using his weight to bully and tire marquez out. Floyd was bigger, and faster than marquez, and you and bert sugar were fools to not see that ass whooping coming, just as you are a foll to think the roid using chump really has a chance.
i don't give a $hit about your hurt flomo feelings. i will still give my 2 cents the way i want to. i give jmm credit because he tried his best even against all odds. he didn't quit swinging punches like mosley did. he fought his hearts out and went out like a true warrior.
now for your idol...knowing that he has all advantages stacked on his side, still fought cautiously. he didn't fought like the bigger man. well that his style and i respect that but i can't force myself to be a fan and give him credit just because it will hurt your feelings...sorry:afro:
You're just picking up a few pieces of achievements to prove your point. There are alot of fighters who was ranked number 2 or 3 P4P that did not make it to the HOF. I thought P4P is just an opinion or popularity contest....suddenly it's a mandatory for the HOF??
Let me do what you did.
How many defenses did Norris do? 9 or 10?
1.Those I listed had 20, 17 and 20+ defenses. Can you say that about Norris?
No. Know why? Take a guess, fronter.
How many losses did Norris have........is it less that those I listed? No. Know why? Take a guess, fronter.
What are you talking about? Where did I say Norris deserved to be in the HOF? You can make a case though. Nevertheless, my argument is that he isn't in there because he beat a shot Leonard and if that was the case, Joppy will get in too. You don't even know what you're debating anymore, clown.
