THose were the words of Dan Patrick today on his radio show. He said tyson was scared to fight Lewis and Holyfield and ducked them. He said that his career and fights were staged and he knocked out a bunch of bums.
I was really disappointed to hear such harsh remarks from a man who seems to pretty much know alot about a variety of sports, he went on to say that Stallone was deservidly in the hall.
What are you thoughts on this?
You have to consider the source...
Dan Patrick's just bitter, Danica Patrick has more testosterone than he has and is more athlete than he'll ever be.
Mike Tyson was the reason why I and legions of red-blooded boxing fans started watching boxing.
If there was a picture next to the word "boxer" in the dictionary, that picture should be of "Iron" Mike Tyson.
Based on his resume on agree, but that isn't the only thing that gets you into the HoF. He was great for boxing and brought in a lot of fans, that and with his pre-prison career he deserves a spot in there for sure.
I saw espn first take a few months ago debating this when the HOF was announced. There is no reason not to induct him. he was the undisputed champion and the face of the heavyweight division.
Mike Tyson may have said and done a lot of despicable things in and outside the ring, but Tyson at one point was one of the most recognizable names and faces in the world. And he still is.
Who the fuck is Dan Patrick?
I can understand an arguement against Tyson getting in. Nothing was more disgraceful than biting Holyfield's ear off in a world heavyweight title bout. A bad spot in the history of boxing. Add to that the rape of Williams, another negative moment where a sports star cast a bad image on boxing. Tyson had many many additional wrong doings and selfish acts but those two could be enough.
Youngest HW champ = easy HOF material
Tyson is way overrated and I don't put him in the top 10 ATG HW list, but for sure HOF material considering his short reign at such a young age.
How much focus do you put on the negative side of Tysons career?
Pre-prison yes. Post-prison- no.
Im split on this issue. Theres no question in my mind Tyson was a piece of **** after prison. He disrespected the sport as much as he promoted it when he was younger.
Mike is definitely a HOF fighter. He brought clarity and excitement back to the heavyweight division, his impact was huge. He was completely dominant for 4 years and had most fights won before the first bell had rang and would have probably reigned a lot longer had he not pushed the self destruct button.
As boxers go, Mike really was the ultimate contradiction. He was the complete wrecking machine and seemingly invincible, but away from the ring he was totally unequipped to deal with everyday life.
I think he's just mad because Mike's movie career is doing a lot better than his.
Did he having anything to say about Tszyu or he didn't know who that was?
Jeez, glad nobody talked trash to Mike like that while he was on stage yesterday being inducted into the IBHOF, who knows what might have gone down. He might have had to **** somebody in the ass in front of everybody until they loved him, wow...
I wrote a big long reply and then my computer froze. So I'll sum it up. Dan Patrick is a f**kstick/hack. Tyson clear HOF, The Most recognizable athlete in the world in his time.
Dan thinks he's on to something new by pointing out Tyson's weak resume. . .
