As his uncle roger said that "it would be crazy for floyd to fight pac after the ortiz fight" which means that he need more tune ups, how many tune up fights should floyd need to be ready for pacquiao?
Bottom line is Mayweather has finally found someone who is better then him.
Would about when George Foreman bet Michael Moorer. Foreman was better and won.
Would about when Mike Tyson bet Michael Spinks. Tyson was better.
Would about when Lennox Lewis bet Vitali Klitschko. Lewis was better. (at the time)
Would about when Leon Spinks bet Muhhamad Ali. (Ali Was way out of prime) but AT THE TIME Spinks was better.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
More recent.
Would about when Manny Pacquiao bet Erik Morales, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Antonio Margarito Shane Mosley, Marco Antonio Barrera and Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clotty and David Diaz. Pac was better.
Would about when Timothy Bradley bet Deven Alexander. Brad was better.
Would about when Amir Khan bet Marco Maidana. Khan is better.
Mayweather needs to understand nobody is on the top forever.
Wow it seems like majority of the people believed that floyd will never be ready for pac. :)
Floyd is as ready as he'll ever be IMO. Now if the Mayweather camp's motive is to stack up enough bread before a mega fight with Pacquiao, then that makes sense (I guess). But even with that being said, Floyd's not getting any younger and the longer the fight is prolonged I think the worse it'll be for Mayweather.
Cotto is the only one I would accept, and even that's pushing it REAL hard
I would pay for the cotto-floyd fight, i think it will be a very competitive fight because floyd isn't a pressure fighter.
I don't see what having 2-3 tune ups is going to do to get your prepared for Pacquiao in the case of Mayweather. Floyd isn't fighting more than twice a year, so are we supposed to wait until 2013 for them to fight when Floyd is turning 36?
If the fight doesn't come off after each the Marquez and Ortiz fights, I think that'll be my ultimate breaking point of just sayin "To Hell with this fight" (which in turns leaves a sour note for Boxing as far as I'm concerned).
If the Mayweather Camp and their fans are really telling the truth, that Floydie is the best or greatest, then, why should Floydie needs a tune up?
He should fight directly the current #1 P4P Fighter - Pacman!
Both Pac and Floyd has STAR power regardless of who they fight, people will still pay and see it.. until then retirement isnt an option.
obviously alot of people about that accept substandard fights. the fans should refuse to pay for it, then they will have to fight each other.
its never gonna happen. pac wont take random tests and mayweather wont drop that request. so how many tune ups mayweather has is irrelevant. if they aint gonna fight each other then they should retire now. whats the point if your not going to fight the best?

Superior in what? Ducking? He can only prove it if he could beat pac in the ring which is very unlikely to happen. But for now pac is much more superior to floyd, Pac is 8 division champ 4 lineal champ and fighter of the decade while floyd is only 5 division champ 3lineal.
no he isnt. since when does the IBO count!

The Golden Egg "0" will not go, risk-free tune-ups brings in load of $$. Floyd's exploiting this lopehole very well and people will pay to see him fight tune-ups once every year with mannys name mention ONLY as an icing in the cake without facing him.
realistically, ortiz can be considered a tuneup and floyd can head straight to a pac fight next year if he's really interested.
schaefer already clarified that the ortiz fight is not leading to a pac fight for mayweather.
but realistically, ortiz can be a tuneup if floyd really wants the pac fight. pac is also fighting just about a month after the ortiz/may fight.
it is so phucking ripe and ideal to make the may/pac happen in 2012. if these promoters are really smart they could make both fights (ortiz/may + pac/marquez 3) even bigger by promoting them as leading to the biggest fight of them all -- may/pac fight.
it would seem even better to negotiate the pac/may fight NOW by saying WIN OR LOSE for both = may/pac in 2012. you know how it is when negotiating with a recent lose -- it's not pleasant.
that is if these boxers and their respective fights are really smart.
a couple more retirements...............a couple tune ups...........a couple more cherry picks
I sure hope floyd will think of new ones, the current excuses is losing its punch!
If Mayweather is fighting Ortiz as a tune up, it's a general tune up, it doesn't necessarily mean he's going to fight Pacquiao next. Martinez is a southpaw as well, he could very well be facing him after Ortiz.
Zero... From a boxing stand point he is clearly superior... hit and not get hit is the name of the game... Pac's defense is getting a little better though

In actual fact he does need 1 tune up fight and that is Ortiz.
After that he should fight Pacman cause Floyd Jr is the best right? So let's get it oooon!!!
