And I'm not even meaning this as a dig at Victor Ortiz. And I'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit at all for beating Berto the way he did. But somebody tell me how the fuck Berto is a measuring stick for how Ortiz would do against Floyd? Jack. That's what the answer is.
Berto may have had a belt and all that. But he didn't earn it by going through adversity, that's for sure.
I really do think Floyd waited on the opportunity to jump on a guy with a fan following who is a weak link like the hand picker that he is.
Look at how a shot ass Morales did against Maidana and compare it to Ortiz's performance against Maidana. Now some people will say that Ortiz's loss to Maidana was a fluke because of certain things. But I still think Maidana beats him ten times out of ten until Ortiz proves otherwise.
In fact, he should have to rematch Maidana to get an opportunity at a big fight like this. I don't care if he did win a belt against some guy who was hyped up by HBO.
It seems like I'm down talking Ortiz now more than I am criticizing Floyd, and I don't want it to become like that. But I'm just keeping it 100 on why Floyd is the king of oppurtinism.
Why didn't he fight a real challenge like Sergio Martinez? Now some people will ask why doesn't Pacquiao do the same. And I agree even he deserves a little criticism for not fighting him. But Floyd deserves more or at least the same.
Im a boxing fan, Ortiz Vs. Mayweather is a great fight. Nothing but kudos for mayweather
Agree, and all the haters who say vic doesnt deserve the shot or floyd is taking an easy fight, are all gonna be glued to their tv come September 17
So do you only want Mayweather to fight Martinez and NOT Pacquiao???
THEY DID!! Roberto Duran, SRL, and all of these guys stepped up in weight MANY of times.
I don't have a problem with Floyd or Manny fighting Sergio Martinez, but there are people that do.
Floyd is way bigger than Pacquiao but a coward. If he ducked Cotto, Margarito and Pacquiao without any problem...what the hell they think he will fight Martinez? Keep dreaming because its free.
Sugar Ray Leonard fought Hagler, the most feared middleweight of the decade, after a 3 plus year layoff.
What's the problem?
Ray Leonard got a gift decsion that is why Hagler walk away from the corrupt sport
Walt, the way I see it is both guys have nothing to lose.
This is the part that intrigues me.
Iceman Scully trained Godfrey maybe he still does, so since I've known Ice for years, I want to see his boy do good.
The fact that both are on the edge makes me think, they are gettin after it tonight.
True dat. Big fan of ice here.
I like matt too, just not sure if he wants it anymore.
Art is beating dude up right now.
Ortiz has a good win over an Al Haymon fighter.
That's all it takes to get Mayweather in the ring.
If only that worked with Martinez when he KO'd Williams in two.
ShoBox gonna be good tongiht...
I picked on Floyd some tonight for sure.
lol.
I thnk kayode is headed for a serious beatdown, not tonite, but he better never ever get in the ring with someone like uss. Godfrey is mentally fragile to me, but I think bj Flores' sorry ass would bust up kayode and decision him easily.
I know why people forgot the win just as people forgot the Sanders win over younger bro.
Just saying how things work in the world. Not that it's right or anything.
Maidana had a chance at the Khan sweepstakes. He didn't complete the task.
A guy like that has to, against a cash cow, like it or not.
Sanders win was a whole different ballgame...
Bu yes, it really comes down to the dough. Hence Floyd being a joke to real boxing junkies and manny pretty much becoming Floyd.
Started with Roy and it's Just how it is now.
Of course you aren't. Dude got caught clean and kd'd. He has zero jab and just stands there admiring his work.....
But Floyd Aint no dummy, he saw an opportunity for another easy fight that can garner him some respect from the uninformed. It's an easy fight for Floyd, just like Shane and margs were for manny.
These cats are a joke, floyd's been a joke since '03. Manny's just behind 6 years.
Their blind fanboy followers are even bigger fukn chumps.
Jrek, the Byrd win should have been forgotten cuz vit was beating his ass and thought it was ok to quit. He learned his lesson and never would again in his career. It was a fluke.
So that means Ortiz shouldn't have to prove he can beat Maidana in a rematch? And I still remember that fight of where he was backing up and looking gassed against Lamont Peterson and that was a boring ass fight. Look at what Timothy Bradley did against Petersen as much as I don't want to praise this guy after the way he weasled out of the Khan fight.
In that case, Pacquiao needs to go back and fight Medgoen Singsurat or Rustico Torrecampo, because after all one could argue that he took TERRIBLE loses.
Nah...Ortiz doesn't need to go back and fight Maidana before getting a fight with Floyd.
Ice, the Maidana boat sailed when Khan beat him.
Maidana came back but Khan won more rounds.
So everyone forgot about that as fast as they forgot about Chris Byrd beating Klitschko.

I want everyone to fight everyone.
I am a fan not a promoter.
Just so we're all clear on this.
:)
I would love to see Mayweather or Pacquiao fight Sergio, fairly also, even them coming up to MW or meeting Sergio at 154, not draining him.
Pacquiao hasn't had any layoffs so he could easily fight Martinez next, or after Mayweather warm up match with Victor he could fight Martinez.
Or they both could SAVE the match with Sergio until after they face eachother to put a ending on a story career.
What up Iceta.
Man, thing is...Ortiz has tried to get the Maidana rematch, he's pushed for it. I disagree with Maidana beating him 10 times out of 10, to me, Maidana is average, he beat Ortiz fair and square, no fluke...but a rematch would go differently. Ortiz kills him right now. I can understand you feeling that Berto was overrated, but I think Ortiz is just better at WW. Bigger, stronger, better stamina, that giving him more confidence. I'm still on the fence with Ortiz's heart though...we'll see.

Why didn't Pacquiao fight Sergio Martinez???
That would be ****ING stupid of Floyd to go from a 16 month layoff to fighting Sergio Martinez, it's already tough enough to go from a 16 month layoff to fighting Ortiz.
Truth be told BOTH bunch of fans have came to the conclusion that you can't blame Mayweather or Pacquiao for NOT fighting Sergio Martinez.
