If Cotto had a great right hand or even a pretty good one I would still favor the Cotto of now. He never really possesed that and that what was Ortiz was getting lit up with in the Maidana and Berto fight. Pre Margarito Cotto applies to much pressure and breaks Ortiz will. Post Marg Cotto needs atleast a right hand to have a really good chance. I still would like to think Cotto could pull it off, but logic, age, style and history tells me otherwise. Ortiz by stoppage around the 8th or 9th round.
Exactly.
He's just too shop worn. Ortiz has more power, and better reflexes. Cotto is probably more skilled, but sometimes will beats skill. And I think this would be one of those circumstances.
I agree to a certain degree.

Yea there's just so many things wrong with Cotto, I don't know if his warrior spirit is no longer there since the Margarito fight, or if his passion was killed after the Pacquiao fight, because it shouldn't be his age.
Guys can be deterred in boxing, take Ricky Hatton for example, he said he just doesn't have the will to want to box anymore or to want to be the greatest anymore.
The Cotto before Margarito relentlessly attacks and stops Victor without regards to his health. Post Margarito im not sure even though Victor has his past, he still can bang and will do damage to Cotto not sure how the Cotto of now handles it. I would lean to Ortiz now. I still voted Cotto moreso because Im more of a fan of his. I think its a fight that would gain real interest even more than the Mayweather fight.
I still like Cotto in this fight.
Cotto has seen his best days, but I think it's a mistake to totally alienate the idea that Cotto is still a very tough fight for anyone in the area of 147-154. He's got experience, patience, one hell of a missile jab and a great body attack. Ortiz right now may have the speed factor, but I think even in today's standards as far as Cotto's concerned, he's not necessarily a guy you want to consistently trade with.
Ortiz to me has flaws a guy like Cotto is more than capable of exposing. I got him by UD or late stoppage.
He couldn't put Mayorga until the 12th, and was hit by that overhand right REPEATEDLY.
I've always felt Cotto has HUGE holes in his defense. Which is why he's been in life and death wars with the likes of Ricardo Torres.
I think Ortiz's youth would prevail. He likes to mix it up (maybe even too much) and Cotto wouldn't back down.
Ortiz outlasts him, at this point.
Meh, Mayorga had some moments, but he was clearly and concisely beaten.
Nobody ever made Cotto out to be a defensive wizward... ever.
The Ortiz that fought Berto would be a handful for a lot of fighters.
