This has been the saying around NSB and in the boxing community, "Ready". If it's not the Gamboa nut huggers, the Ortiz haters and Bob with Jr.
Gamboa beats Solis and people put in here put him in the "elite" class, really?
Ortiz gets manhandle by Maidana and people are hating that he got a shot at PBF, so what, PAC got knockout twice and he got a shot at Barrera for money.
Now JCCjr isn't ready to face the top MW or Jr MW.
Is this the new trend in boxing, cause what I see is that no fighter coming up will ever be "Ready".
They're ready when a promoter feels the public won't pay to see said fighter taking on garbage fighters anymore so the promoter is forced to step up the level of competition for his fighter.
Unfortunately it seems that way

There's the truth.
He is ready. People are pointing at the Maidana fight, but really that was the defining moment of Ortiz's career. He quit. Then he got back up and recovered his career and showed his true potential. Maidana wasn't a top 10 P4P fighter. The fact that Ortiz finally realized that he wasn't immortal, helped him for the better. It motivated him to try and prove people wrong.

WELL SAID. :headbang:

That's what happens when the sports priority isn't the sport itself but the business and $$$ that go with it.
In Ortiz's case he had one fight at WW, then Mayweather. You need more than one fight to be ready for arguably the No.1 p4p and WW. Sure he won a title but against Berto who everyone says is over-hyped.
And how does he go to number 2 in active fighters after one fight?
In Ortiz's case, Floyd is not the type of opponent you test yourself with. He's going from Maidana, Peterson, Berto, etc. straight to Mayweather. That is a huge leap. Unfortunately, there's no one in the division to ease him in to the top guys.
I agree, and that's why Ortiz should also get some props for accepting this fight. Not only is he gonna get a stupid amount of money, win or lose his he's gonna have Mayweather's name on his resume.
That could be bragging rights if he's able keep the fight close or win.
But that's the problem, were not giving some of these guys the chance opportunity. As soon as they get ready to fight, people are quick to say they're not ready, my thing is how can these guys be ready unless they test themselves.

was saying this on another thread
"not ready" in situations like that just means they'll lose
Chavez Jr and Ortiz are ready to fight elite guys at their weight
they just aren't going to win
it's ok for them to get the fights though
can't say they're getting rushed
when they beat a serious fighter in their division
that, or when they win a belt
in either situation, they can't be justifiably protected anymore

Can't tell until you see that guy in a sink or swim situation, there is no way to tell before that happens.
But just because a guy hasn't proven to be "ready" does not mean they can't handle that situation~

When they are semi retired, 38 years old, and when Bob Arum says it's time.
That's the only time a fighter is ready to step up to fight an elite fighter.
I think that had more to do with the fact Berto seemed to be making a career feeding off of guys from the 140 pound weight class division. Ortiz was big at 140, so obviously he made 147 w/o problem.
I don't know what you're talking about in regards to Gamboa, people call him elite because of how insanely talented he is. Obviously right now he's in a tricky spot w/o many big names in his weight class or immediately north but he's not even ranked top 10 pound 4 pound yet.
So beating Salido and Solis makes him elite, boxing standards have sunk to a new low.
well, this was the same issue with berto. if Suleiman allows it, what the **** are people gonna do?
Another example is when Ortiz fought Berto, Ortiz wasn't ready for welterweight division. :wtf1:
