We know Ortiz has a brutal loss against Maidana.
We know Ortiz has a very nice win against Berto.
We know Ortiz is young and strong.
What does beating Ortiz do for Mayweather's legacy?
Is it enough to put Mayweather back in the p4p#1 spot?
Is it enough to increase his ATG rankings?
What boxing followers want to know is what does this fight do for Mayweather?
This win as it is doesn't do very much because Ortiz at the moment is an unknown factor.
If Ortiz has a good showing in the fight and then after the fight continues to preform well it will be great for Mayweather's legacy.
If Ortiz doesn't do well and never accomplishes anything in his career then it does nothing for his career.
The effect this fight has on Mayweather's legacy wont be known until a future date cause we don't know enough about Ortiz's legacy.
Victor Ortiz will stop Gayweather in round one. He has never faced an opponent like Victor Ortiz; young, hungry, fast, powerful, explosive, prime, southpaw, with good foot work, and a twelve round gas tank. Gayweather won't know what hit him and Victor Ortiz will become boxings new SUPERSTAR!:boxing:
Quit spamming the same sh!t in every thread fool.

Victor Ortiz is still young, in a few years we will truly know what it does for Mayweather's legacy.
Ortiz might very well become a champion again and have a great career, so we'll see.
Exactly it largely depends on what Ortiz does after Mayweather since he is still young and has been inconsistent.
solid win. nothing legendary, but it certainly is a good addition to his list of wins. assuming he wins.
but as usual, many people overrate the hell out of the win, and others will completely downplay it, instead of just recongnising it for what it actually is.
name me the elite level fighter mayweater has on his resume?
:lol1:, as I said, comments like these show just how much certain posters know about the sport.

its a good win and better win then pacs last three fights imo
Ring?
What about the fans rankings?
I don't listen to ESPN, yahoo, etc rankings.
I rank guys with my own eyes, and mind.
I rank guys by what they do in the ring and against who.
#1 Pacquiao( been active but he better fight someone in their prime next)
#2 Martinez (did great things lately)
#3 Mayweather( would be #1 but been on vacation fot 16 months)
#4 Gamboa (he is a good little fighter)
#5 Donaire (good fighter)
#6 Ward (on his way to winning the super 6)
#7 Hopkins (old man keeps winning)
#8 V. Klitschko (dominating the heavyweights)
#9 W. Klitschko (like his brother dominating the heavyweights)
#10 Khan (would have been bradley here but he ducked khan)
How about a poll on here after the fight open for 7 days.
Adds nothing to his legacy, Ortiz is not an elite fighter as Pacquiao or Martinez is, he is not even the level bellow, e.g a Cotto or Margarito.
Mayweather has yet to step up and I doubt he ever will.

Well Ortiz is a young, hungry boxer. I'm sure he will put up a good fight. Of course Mayweather has fought far greater names, so Ortiz doesn't do much for his legacy right now. Everyone knows Floyd should fight Pac next. Possibly Martinez but he would be less attractive and just as hard.
Want to bet that the Ring don't have Mayweather ranked the no.1 p4p after the Ortiz fight.

No he doesn't.
Did Pac or Martinez beat Mayweather to get their ranking?
All Mayweather has to do is dominate Ortiz and he would be right back at the top.
In that case Pacquiao should have to fight Martinez to keep his #1 ranking.
Is that gonna happen? No
So how does Martinez get to #1 without fighting a guy who won't give him a shot unless he weighs in at 147-150?
P4P is just an opinion.

it woul be a good win, but not making him p4p number 1. he needs to beat pac, or sergio for that.
No he doesn't.

If he loses(which he won't) it would stain his legacy.
If he wins (which he will) it would only be another wbc title to add to his collection.
The Pacquiao fight is for all the marbles.
Legacy IS public perception. Pacquiao could've fought Ortiz if he wanted to but he didn't, and we all know why.
Ortiz was questionable until he showed everyone he can get back up from some crazy knockdowns and come right back up to win the fight. Berto dropped Ortiz with better shots than Maidana.
Years down the road depending on how Ortiz ends up, people are going to use hindsight and rate Mayweathers legacy. It's like when he beat Baldomir. At the time it was his best win. Years later after all that is said and done with Baldomir's career, people try to discredit it.
Who else could he have fought? Oh him? Really? Take the tests.
EZ.... 40 - 50 millions
Mayweather vs Ortiz ---------> pacquiao vs JMM3 @144 and pacquiao last 4-opponents
i think mayweather need to beat martinez to be #1 again
but that will be amazing if they make him p4p #1 again
i am sure Arum will get angry an pacquiao will agree to the RANDOM drug test
id*ot pacman last 4 opponents would all put ortiz to sleep.
so how do u come to conclusion coward vs ortiz > pacman last 4??
