What does a Mayweat win over Ortiz do for Mayweather's legacy?

This win as it is doesn't do very much because Ortiz at the moment is an unknown factor. If Ortiz has a good showing in the fight and then after the fight continues to preform well it will be great for Mayweather's legacy. If Ortiz doesn't do well and never accomplishes anything in his career then it does nothing for his career. The effect this fight has on Mayweather's legacy wont be known until a future date cause we don't know enough about Ortiz's legacy. Victor Ortiz will stop Gayweather in round one. Victor Ortiz is still young, in a few years we will truly know what it does for Mayweather's legacy. Ortiz might very well become a champion again and have a great career, so we'll see. Exactly it largely depends on what Ortiz does after Mayweather since he is still young and has been inconsistent.

In that case Pacquiao should have to fight Martinez to keep his #1 ranking. Is that gonna happen? Legacy IS public perception. Pacquiao could've fought Ortiz if he wanted to but he didn't, and we all know why. Ortiz was questionable until he showed everyone he can get back up from some crazy knockdowns and come right back up to win the fight. Berto dropped Ortiz with better shots than Maidana. Years down the road depending on how Ortiz ends up, people are going to use hindsight and rate Mayweathers legacy. It's like when he beat Baldomir. At the time it was his best win. Years later after all that is said and done with Baldomir's career, people try to discredit it. Who else could he have fought? Oh him? Really? Take the tests.
