Damn, this might be some epic ****....
First revealed last March, Mark Wahlberg is interested in making a sequel to his 2010 hit The Fighter. Now, in a clip from the forthcoming ****e TV Guys Choice Awards (airing this Friday, June 10th), the actor reiterates that the project is moving forward.
"We left out the Arturo Gatti fights for a reason," Wahlberg announced, following the film's win for "Guy Movie of the Year", "Because that's for 'Fighter 2'. We're not going to do 'Fighter' 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, but we're gonna do 2. We're gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy."
In real life, Mickey Ward fought Arturo Gatti in three major fights beginning in 2002, emerging as the champion. The actor's comments are somewhat unclear as to whether "trilogy" refers to two more films (Wahlberg does exclude a "3" from the list of films they won't do) or if multiple fights would be incorporated into the sequel.
The Fighter swept the 2010 Supporting Actor nominations, landing statues for both Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
It is unknown at this stage who else might return from the original film, but, as you can see in the video below, Wahlberg is joined on stage by director David O. Russell. His involvement is likely at least as a producer.

wahlberg better step up his fight choreography because he didn't even REMOTELY EVEN COME CLOSE TO LOOKING LIKE WARD INSIDE THE RING.
he maybe should've watched a fight of wards or two to know how to imitate micky.......
if the same fight choreography is in this movie as the last movie and this one would more likely have more ring action in it, it's going to be an epic failure if wahlberg looks like he did in the ring in the first movie.......
just because he was white and can speak in a bostonian accent, doesn't make him a good micky ward pertaining to the way he imitated him inside the ring...
it looked like an amateur who has never fought trying to play the part of a guy who actually fought......... if it looks that way, then it's ****dy acting...... it's suppose to look like the real deal of something of a professional at least.
either way, i just hope they don't butcher it....... besides, they need to get emmanuel augustus to play himself in that movie in the fight before the gatti trilogy....... that was also FOTY and worth a place in the movie.......
it was the prequel to gatti ward....... it's a must!!!!

Bale never did a Boxing film, didn't hurt him.
Benicio Del Toro looks more like Gatti and is a better actor.
Also Johnny is a better actor, and is a much bigger name.
I much prefer 'em to teh annoying shit actor John.
Well I think Leguizamo looks amore like him.Plus I doubt Del Toro can get in fighting(or look like) shape.
Besides the action will probably center around the Micky Ward character again so who ever plays Gatti won't get much tv time anyway.
i was kinda hoping for that in the 1st movie...the 'directed' action was meh...if they pan the screen out, they might actually get away with playing actual footage
Gatti-Ward defined 'action'...i want the directors to do those wars justice...if they can't recapture it on film, just play the real thing
the casuals who have never seen the fights would trip balls :D
Casuals will just assume that it has been over dramatised for the movie. Let the casuals know that boxing is numero uno
Lulz, he's a shit actor and he's annoying as fuck, don't know why anyone would want him to be Gatti.
Because he looks like him and already did a good boxing movie so he has the experience.

i agree...mark wahlberg and christian bale will just eat him up in terms of acting. i want to see jeremy renner to play the role of gatti.
