How many guys on ESPN do you think know who Victor Ortiz is? These "so called" journalists bash a fight with a guy they know nothing about. Do you think Micheal Fatbon knows about the huge HW championship fight between Haye and Wlad on July 2? The saddest part is that people listen to these guys. ESPN coverage of boxing is the equivalent of James Toney being on Jeopardy.
:lol1: :lol1:
One guy told me you can't compare Joe Louis to Mike Tyson because of there huge difference in weight.
He said Joe Louis is just a cruiserweight....the same weight as NIGEL BENN.
When I informed him Joe Louis was pretty much as heavy as Mike Tyson and Nigel Benn's highest weight was 12 stone he said I don't know what I'm talking about :lol1:
Lol think urself lucky u met someone in real life who even heard of Joe Louis!
Lol in a sick way im looking forward to hearing some of the gems the casuals drop nearing to the Klitchko vs Haye fight...
Yea, ESPN pretty much sucks in their boxing coverage. They have no idea what the hell they are talking about and they pretty much stick to their talking points like "Manny bad, Floyd good". Only thing they do right is Friday night fights. Other than that, piss poor coverage.
Haha who are these guys seriously!?? If u dont know shiit shut ur mouth and be silent on the subject!
Get this Naz ducked Nigel Benn.......... yeah i know :spank:

:lol1: Now you mention it about a year ago I was told Bruno should have stopped Tyson if it wasn't for the incompetant ref :lol1:

Yup i got the Harrison is a Killer puncher banter too! :wtf1:
Oh now hold on Dan u must not know that Bruno took a dive and the fight was a fix vs Tyson the second time!? Or so a local expert informed me down the boozer a while back!
:lol1: Now you mention it about a year ago I was told Bruno should have stopped Tyson if it wasn't for the incompetant ref :lol1:
Tyson-Bruno 2?!?!? These guys weren't watching Boxing when Mike Tyson and Frank Bruno were at the top bro :lol1:
The people on Sky Sports news are a joke. Did you see them ask George Groves if he would fancy a fight with Amir Khan? :lol1:
I can't stand the overnight Boxing experts. They all let me know how Audley is a harder puncher than Haye back in 2010.

Its worse in the UK, they have the boxers on tv shows when the hosts CLEARLY know NOTHING about them or their opponent, boxing in general! It can get v cringey
Whats worse is everytime theres a big fight on - Haye vs Wlad for example, everyone thinks they are a boxing expert and have a detailed plan of whats gonna happen even tho this is the first fight they have planned to watch since Tyson vs Bruno 2!

Well said. There's hope on this earth.
you dont know what the fukk thye know homeboy...for all i care, you could be one of them guys like maniac , yesir, boxing folower, and ktlp who do nothing but pretend....let's get real here!
you're one of the least knowledgeable people on NSB
thus your post and opinions are irrelevant
Here are some questions for the ESPN journalists: Who did Victor Ortiz fight in his last fight? What weight class does Nonito Donaire fight in? Who is in the Super Six Boxing Classic finals? Somebody tweet these questions to Fatbon and Payless, I don't do twitter. Fukk ESPN, I miss the NBA on NBC. End rant.
Correct. But there's a big difference though. Ortiz has a couple things going for him that Baldomir didn't... he's young & Mexican-American. With some clever marketing + with Mayweather's name recognition in the general public, this is at the very least going to exceed the numbers of the Marquez fight by 100,000-200,000 PPV's.
Also, Floyd became a huge PPV attraction after the DLH fight, he wasn't as popular when he fought Baldomir.
Well, this will be a great test of your hypothesis. Ortiz has no real fan base or public profile. Just don't see how Mayweather coming off an even longer 'retirement' against a proven PPV performer in Marquez or taking on a name commodity like Hatton in a mega hype fight will be outdone/matched by some random kid from Kansas who most casuals couldn't pick out of a lineup.
But w/e I'm not getting a cut either way. My bed beckons.
Because, Floyd like Pac are so popular right now, are 2 most known fighters right now. That they could fight just about anyone and do a around a mili.
Mayweather has surpassed Oscar De la Hoya.
Floyd can fight just about anybody and do over a mili buys.
To think that HBO and GBP has their work cut out for them to try and sell this fight is pretty laughable.

A good way to help is to have Victor Ortiz punch Skip Bayless in the face im sure that will attract attention
:haha:
Hope Richard Schaefer reads this, make it happen.
Don't underestimate the casual fans bro. Alot of people I know who are casual fans are talking about this fight. The fact that Ortiz just came off a FoTY candidate is perfect for them, because the million or so casual fans who saw the fight on the FREE HBOweekend, will most likely tell there friends, and the friends will spread it around etcetc. It spreads like wild fire.
Maybe, but Ortiz is by far the least recognizable/bankable fighter that Floyd has fought since Baldomir. It's just going to be him selling the card alone, unless the undercard is dynamite. Just don't see how this fight outsells either the Hatton or JMM fights. I think this might be Floyd's Clottey-like fight, but at least he'd have 24/7 (I'm assuming) so that always adds buyers. Could be wrong, but big numbers are always good for boxing regardless of whether or not I like the fighter, so hopefully I am.
thats what all pretenders usuaully say to their defense......ask dumbass questions, it makes you look smart about he topic.......yeah right!l.....you aint folin anyone homeboy!......lol
Once again, ignoring my simple question. What do I "pretend" about? Is it my boxing knowledge you're referring too?
That's why Golden Boy/HBO has their work cut out if they hope to surpass 1 mil buys for Mayweather-Ortiz... if sports journalists don't know who Ortiz is, what makes you think casual fans do?
