Victor Ortiz has the fight with Mayweather comming up in September, at the moment he doesn't have the style/tools to beats him but Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao have the know how to beat Mayweather.
Ortiz trained at the Wild Card with Roach in the lead up to the Berto fight and received advice from Pacquiao.
He turned in a great display against Berto and took the title.
Will Freddie and Pacquiao be able to give Ortiz a gameplan to beat Mayweather?
I'm sure that they can but can Ortiz execute it?
Anyway I think it will be a good idea for Ortiz to get himself down the Wild Card train with Roach.
I think Roach will be very happy to help Ortiz out as well.
Dude ,lmao, that was in 2008.you said he trained there for the Berto fight.
that was then ,this is now.
give it up bro,it not a good idea nor is it good for boxing.

I actually talked to Manny Pacquiao earlier and Manny, thank you very much for your advice man, thank you.“
Merchant asked what Pacquiao’s advice was and Ortiz replied “He (Pacquiao) said that I’m more powerful than he is, I’m as quick if not quicker than he is, so I (should) just stick to my game plan and listen to my coaches.“ He ended by thanking Pacquiao as well as his trainer Freddy Roach.
you act like freddie is the best trainer out there the only fighter he trained good was pac thats all scratch that pac had his gifts already freddie just helped out on the way
What is it now 28 world champions trained by Freddie Roach, all just happy a coincidence.
he didn't train in the wild card gym, what are you talking about?if anything he should hire Ariza to get the postions going and then it would be worth it.

It is interesting because Ortiz is probably the closest approximation to Pacquaio that Mayweather can fight. I don't think the concept of Roach training Ortiz is gonna happen, but I am sure Roach will take a keen interest in the fight.
Bold move by Mayweather. He may not be able to work up the courage to fight Pac, but at least the rivalry is motivating him to take some risks.
Freddie Roach cant even train Chavez Jr what makes you think he would do a good job with Ortiz
Chavez jr, Mr Miyagi, Micky Goldmill and Yoda will struggle to turn that guy into a top fighter.
Roach has done a good job with Chavez, he is much improve from a couple years ago.
I feel what ur saying but ortiz and pac are both lefties with power, the game plan might not be identical but there would no doubt be similarities. I'm all for vic getting whatever he can out of roach. All I'm saying is from roachs chair, there is one man who can beat floyd, why give away ANYTHING i might need later in the real fight. Why give floyd a sneak peak into what they're thinking?
Maybe, if Ortiz wins, the Mayweather vs Pacquiao really has no chance of happening.
But, Ortiz can't do the things Pacquiao does, so the gameplan will be different.
Ortiz should start jabbing now, he really need to improve that.
Berto caught Ortiz with that straight right all the time, Ortiz need watch that fight and little step to the right should sort that as well as setting up the right hook for the counter against the jab, not sure if Ortiz has the speed to pull it off though.

That's true. I don't see pac coming down here for **** other then to pick up another massive check or train, he's got boat loads of **** to do. If ortiz asked roach for some pointers on how to get to floyd I'm sure roach would give him some advise, but there aint no way in hell he's just laying out his full game plan for floyd. As much as I like ortiz he isn't on that level to be a real threat to mayweather and roach knows that, no way roach is giving away any secrets he's worked up in case floyd and pac ever do throw down.

LMAO, you really think Pacquiao is going to leave the Philippines just to help Ortiz, I mean c'mon. I don't know how much he enjoys his congressional job but leaving twice a year might be pushing it, let alone just to help some mexican kid they never heard of. Freddie will just throw in some words of advice, but he won't say anything of extremity, he still has Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao he intends to match against Floyd, it wouldn't be smart to give out information you think will work for somebody else to use.

He should since Roach did such a great job with Chavez right lol!
Did you see JCC jr before Roach got a hold of him, have you seen the Vanda. The guy is nothing special.
Roach has done a great job with him.
Oh okay. So if ignore an actual fight that took place, we can just pretend it didn't happen and say Oscar was inactive that whole time when he really wasn't. Yeah that makes sense.
Using that brilliant logic, Mayweather was 3.5 years inactive when he virtually shut out Shane Mosley. You must have been very impressed by his achievement, given how many years he was "inactive".
And how was Tyson have his 3/4 year stint out of the game, back to his best after Peter McNeeley.:stupid:
If they knew they wouldn't be hiding behind lawsuits and needles, they should thank arum for doing a good job in saving them.
And Floyd would not be hiding behind blood tests?
Look what Roach done to a part-time boxer like Oscar, he made competative in the Mayweather fight, and if not for his poor conditioning, the timing and power gone from his right hand and Oscar stopping throwing the jab in the 8th round, Oscar could have got the decision.
Prior to the Mayorga fight, Oscar had almsot 3 years out doing his promoting work.
Mayorga, hand made for Oscar, very easy to hit, did not need much timing with the right hand.

Oh we are only allowed to post comments we are 100% sure about, must have missed that in the rules.
IMO, Roach has formulas/gameplans to beat Floyd Mayweather.
Better?
MUCH BETTER! lol

Roach is a great training no doubt about that...but as Mayweather says all the time (and I hate quoting him), but once they get in that ring...it is YOU AND ME...TRAINER CAN'T FIGHT FOR YOU! You can't go into a fight with "THE PERFECT GAMEPLAN" but then you get into the ring and punches starts to exchange between the two fighters...IT IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY!
So yes it is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS to say for sure that Roach "HAS THE GAME PLAY TO BEAT FLOYD" when you don't know that for sure, but your posting comments as if you know FOR SURE

Never said they they did give him the formula to beat Berto, just mentioned they have worked together before and Ortiz appreciated it.
And why is it ridiculous to say the greatest trainer of our time does have the formula to beat Mayweather.
If he can get part-time Oscar after almost 3 years being out of the game to push Mayweather close then I would say he got some good formulas.
Pacquiao can execute them.
But can Ortiz learn them quick enough and have the ability to execute them?
